This was a wonderful vacation. The rental process was the easiest I have ever had. Daniel, the owner of Gertrude Rentals was the best I have worked with and was attentive and immediately responsive to our questions etc. Gave us a wonderful discount for the extra night we wanted. Perfect Stay for Large Bachelorette Group

Everything about this stay from booking it - had the help of an amazing employee who helped me book direct and I saved $$$ as a result - to out arrival to a clean, gorgeous duplex with goodies to greet us, more than enough space for our group, a beautiful backyard space to hang out, and we didn't have to worry about our a thing to linens, towels, or even getting the dishes and all the trash upon checkout! Dan answered my emails quickly when we had questions and was so kind. Honestly dying to come back and stay ASAP!

Overall great

Renting out both duplex's was great! The floors still had sand on them and so did both couches. Overall GREAT location, beach was close and so were restaurants and shops! Loved not having to Uber for my bachelorette.

Guys trip

The property was perfect. We booked both units so we could have the whole courtyard. The location was great. 5 minute walk to bars, restaurant, and beach. The check in process was easy and the checkout process amazing. The owner encourages you to enjoy your last day in paradise instead of all the cleaning that some places require. I would recommend this property.

Christmas family vacation

We rented both sides of Casa van Lopik with a large group age raging 12 to 78 years old. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Walking distance to village or beach was ideal for kid freedom, shopping, and going out for drinks. Parked the cars and never had to drive. Bikes, kayaks, paddle boards were all there for us. Great response from owner (Dan) with any minor issue we had, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The outdoor hangout area was perfect. A fantastic stay overall.

Celebration of 35th Anniversary with 4 Generations and 22 People

Loved the beautiful backyard. The walk to everything was perfect and the beach a quick 10-15 minutes. This property definitely is not shown as it is on VVR. It is very rundown. Doesn’t look like they do much preventative maintenance. I would never stay here again.

Wasn't expecting this review. It was a pretty wild time, but still it was kind of heartbreaking to hear this. Property had been through back-to-back floods over 40 days, lost all the tools and linens, and part of the roof. We worked around the clock to prepare the unit and got everything finished. This was the first guest we hosted after Hurricane Milton. I'm sorry she didn't have a better time and I guess I should've just canceled her booking, but there was no place else for them to go nothing was open. Guest was advised the plants outside were ravaged, the staircase covering was a temporary surface, and the outdoor alfresco dining area would have some drywall that had not been taped and painted yet. It was also definitely explained the operation and all the property staff were in a severely diminished capacity and that some patience would be helpful and might even be necessary for the stay. This was our first booking after the third hurricane. Guest showed up three hours early so cleaning manager couldn't go through and check the condition of the unit. I agree with her that the unit was not perfect. It's not the way it should/would ever normally be, but we were in constant communication. When Susan showed up the dishwashers were working but there were no dish drainers in the units. A few of the burners on the stove needed an adjustment, which honestly might not have happened after their departure. All our storage areas were destroyed, and there was definitely a bed made with linens that were damp from the storm and they had a smell but we took care of it. It was a very tough couple of months, but we've gotten through it and everything is back to normal.

Absolutely amazing!

My family and I enjoyed this property so much! It is minutes to a more secluded part of siesta key beach which we loved since it wasn’t crowded. It is also just minutes to the village and we all enjoyed the convenience of having all the shops and restaurants near by. We also loved the patio area. It has shade all day and it was nice to have a relaxing area to gather and get out of the sun. The units themselves were beautifully decorated, spacious and well stocked with everything we needed! My family enjoyed riding the bikes around the village and beach and we appreciated having wagons and beach chairs available as well! We had the best time having family meals in the outdoor dining area. We were really able to come together and create so many happy memories during our stay and for that I am so grateful!

We rented bith unts 360 needs some smaller furniture upstairs to get around, the chair makes it almost impossible to navigate with rollaway. kitchen sink faucet needs fixed. 362 has a serious plumbing issues toilets won't stop running, pipes has black stuff climing out and it not a water main break issue, dryer does work correctly. Location amazing but house is tired and needs updating for price. Nice outside amenities and beach supplies. Allmin all a good say.

Unfortunately needs work and uncomfortable

We understand there was a huge hurricane months ago so the property still needs work and the ongoing construction all around is inevitable. An advanced warning of visitors on the property would have been nice though. The bigger issue for us was the furniture; it photographed well but was cheaply made and very uncomfortable. The beds in particular need to be replaced, extremely uncomfortable, almost ridiculously so - you can see the deep dents when you walk into the room. Crazy for this price point to have junk beds. Fans, light switches and AC regulator all finicky. Sheets missing on two beds and not enough towels and blankets. Basic cereal bowls and spoons missing. Outdoor furniture run down. Space tight for the number of people it's listed for. Sadly, attention to detail was missing. ON the bright side - you can easily walk into town and to the beach so the location is great. Check in was easy. The manager communicates well, very kind, and will call to see how things are going. There was a quick response to sheets, bowls and spoons which we appreciated. Hopefully with time the house will be made new and worth the price it's listed at. As it is now, if you plan to spend time at the house, cook, rest in a chair and sleep well - it's not comfortable. Sorry for the rough review.

I'm sorry Heather wasn't crazy about the property. She visited during the week between Christmas and New years and yes it's very expensive! I agree! The week after New Year’s is incredibly cheap! This is definitely a more bohemian property, but the furniture is mostly better built pieces from High Point, NC. Definitely have some inexpensive side tables from Wayfair, but mostly better than average furniture. I am sorry this guest had missing sheets on the top of the bunkbed and would’ve preferred more linens. This is not a normal occurrence for us, it was a little crazy after the hurricane, and we're just now catching a breath. Understand we accepted bookings, November and December following the hurricane from people who couldn’t find a place to stay and could’ve done a better job explaining we were not quite in “prime-time” shape yet. We have 50 unique properties located all over the island so it’s difficult to be systematic and perfect, but if there’s ever anything wrong, we get someone to take care of it quickly and thoughtfully. One of our biggest linen storage areas is right on this property. We got this guest items when they asked for it and would’ve gladly given them access to our linen storage if they needed it!

Wedding weekend

We had 10 people there for our wedding weekend. The place was very clean and just like the pictures presented. The owner was just a phone call away. We were able to check in a little earlier which helped out a lot. It’s within a short walking distance to the beach and the Village area. You can basically park your car in the driveway and forget about it while you’re there. The owner provides a lot of beach amenities (chairs, tents, umbrellas, paddle boards, kayaks and bikes). The beds are comfortable. There is a washer and dryer available. I would stay here again wothoit hesitation.

Yes we send out a message that says you'll get charged if you dont depart on time, but people are still late sometimes and we never charge anyone. The note is something we added during Covid to prevent the cleaners, who are very good at their job, from mutinying :-). The ideas we treat all our guests equally so the person who paid for the upcoming afternoon gets priority over someone who wants to stay later than their reservation allows.

Perfect senior trip!

We had a great experience with 7 high school seniors and their families staying together at this property. The location was ideal as we could walk to get food, drinks, and to the beach. The house was outfitted with what we needed for our days at the beach and the back yard was perfect for gathering in the evenings. Communication with the property manager was a breeze! It’s an ideal place for a large group.

Perfect for family get together!

Our family group of 17 stayed here for 5 nights using both sides of the condo! We fit comfortably and location is great! We fixed 1-2 meals/day at house and enjoyed the area restaurants for other meal. Close to a beautiful white sandy beach and some of our group spent afternoon at Venice Beach too! House has all the basics you need, plenty of towels and the courtyard and balconies were perfect places to relax! Would recommend to friends and family visiting this area. Dan was ultimate host and answered our questions and made great suggestions for dining options!

Amazing House in the best location!

This house was perfect for our group of girls. It had 2 units connected by a downstairs patio in the backyard that was incredible. This house was so clean and provided everything we needed for our stay.
