Beautiful location

Beautiful quiet beachfront location on Island Beach. Lovely big deck out front to soak up the views. Fairly basic accommodation and decor but comfortable enough to use as a base to explore Kangaroo Island.

What a perfect location! Amazing views, clean and comfortable accommodation. The only thing that would have made the stay better is more comfortable seating in the lounge and perhaps a pod coffee machine. Would definitely rebook this property.

What A Location!

We travelled to KI in January 2023 and stayed at this great beach house for just under a week. The location is utterly superb. A beautiful sweeping family friendly beach, golden sunsets, magical terrain and right on the doorstep of the rest of KIs beauty. A perfect spot for a family getaway. Thanks so much!

With back to back bookings we only have 4 hours for cleaning. Periodically the house gets a very thorough clean (windows, deck, garage, etc.) The age and condition but also location of the house are reflected in the price. Beach front houses that are newer and in a better condition often charge double of our price or more. Alternatively you will be able to book a newer house in the second or third row (i.e. not beach front) for the same money.

A hidden oasis!

This little beach shack is situated in a hidden oasis! There is no amount of money that can be spent for the view, the serenity and the peacefulness. The shack is a little dated but has all the amenities a family or single traveler could want. There is some water damage throughout the property, some mold issue's within one of the bathrooms, and the carpets and walls could do with a deep clean, but you can't fault this property otherwise. Well done, and thank you for sharing this little piece of paradise! Sending you peace and wellness always.

Great location near the beach with ocean view, however the property is poorly maintained.

The property’s location near the beach and the view from the large back deck is exceptional. The downside is the cleanliness. On arrival it smelt revolting and the kitchen and table surfaces were grimy and the carpet is stained. It took an hour to clean up. It is not good value overall.

Our cleaner is very reliable, diligent and accurate and we were confirmed that the beach house was clean as always (please refer to other positive reviews). Yes, the carpet was really stained with red wine from previous bookings. As a consequence the carpet in the lounge and dining area has been replaced by a new laminate floor.

Disappointed

House not been cleaned for a long time on arrival bed linen not changed, toilets not cleaned no towels no soap had to clean fire place. Did contact owners sister she sent a lady to change linen and towels. Perfect location house needs a good clean. Thank you. Christina

We are very sorry to hear this. The beach house had been very thoroughly cleaned during the winter break in July. There had only been one booking between the big clean and Christinas booking so I would be very surprised if the house had been in a bad condition or not cleaned properly. Our cleaning lady reported the house was cleaned but linen were not yet prepared since she expected that booking to arrive one day later. When we were informed by the visitor that the linen were not prepared, we organised this to happen immediately. Fresh linen were put on within approx. one hour after the phone call.

You pay for what you get.

Please note our assessment is meant with no malice or disrespect in mind and is assessed against the experiences I have had with all Stayz properties I/we have used. Whilst the property is in a nice location we were extremely disappointed to be met by an army of millipedes creeping across the floor and the walls. After sweeping them them off and out on the balcony, we thought this would be the end. No it was a ritual we had to repeat each morning and evening. It is quite possible the property should be treated with a long acting surface spray or fumigated. I our opinion the property furnishings are old and tired (we found the main bed uncomfortable) and this should be address by considering a serious update of the amenities. I note this may not be an option for a destination which has limited tourist opportunities and demand. At best it is a basic holiday shack and not something we would not like to experience in the future.

We are very sorry to hear this. We would have appreciated if you had called us about this situation and would of course have taken action. But we never received any call or mail from you. The outside of the house is treated once a year by a specialist and this has always been sufficient. There can still be millipedes who are generally present on the island but we have never had any incidence of the dimension you report or anything close to it. The property furnishings are old. This is reflected in the price. Other beach front properties charge up to triple and more and will most likely have a more luxurious interior. To avoid false expectations we show the interior on the photos.

Very scenic and relaxing stay

The property is located very close to and over looking the beach. A beautiful sight to wake up to every morning. We wished a few minor cleanliness issues were resolved before our stay, but nothing that really hampered the vacation. Overall a great location and will definitely visit Detlev / Beates house again.

Great cozy sccom with an insane view

We absolutely loved the house, was very conviniently located, with the beach at a 2 minute walk. The starry sky in the night with the fireplace made for very cozy evenings to relax. I could see the sunrise from my bedroom which was amazing. House itself was big and spacious, ready to be occupied.

Stayz was the problem!

Sadly Stayz had inaccurately informed the owner that we had cancelled our booking - while they were still emailing us re our upcoming accommodation booking! So, we arrive, unexpected, nothing cleaned or prepared. The owner and their cleaner could not have been more helpful but it put them under terrible pressure on a Sunday evening - unbelievable! Stayz new management needs to sort itself out - did no one 'connect' that the company cancelled a booking while still confirming the stay with the travellers??? We will never use Stayz again

The perfect place to unwind

What an absolute treat it is staying here. Extraordinary communication, cleanliness and that view. The house as advertised is basic but its comfortable and cosy and the view alone is enough to take your cares away. Watch the wild dolphins, wallabies, kangaroos, magpies all from the comfort of that balcony. A beautiful experience.
