I really enjoyed my stay at this accommodation. The place felt warm, cozy, and welcoming, and I felt comfortable from the moment I arrived. The biggest joy was brought by gardens and peace I needed being on my long service leave. Everything was clean, peaceful, and thoughtfully prepared. I especially appreciated the care and friendliness shown during my stay. I would happily stay here again and recommend it to others looking for a comfortable and pleasant place to stay. Very close to my favorite hikes. Thank you John and Anne for making me feel like at home.

Perfect place to detox from work, life and stress. The property was very well maintained with beautiful garden. Kitchen equipments were complete, the only thing that was missing was cooking oil, which I'm sure if we asked, they'd have provided. Amazing hosts with great communication.

Perfect weekend getaway

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Shady Brook Cottage. Very cosy and warm, great location, beautiful gardens and very friendly and welcoming hosts. Highly recommend and will defiantly stay here again.

A lovely quiet cottage in nature

We loved our stay here, especially with the wood fire (wood stores topped up frequently by John), the bird life, and the beautiful location. John and Anne should be very proud of what they've created.

We stayed here for our ski trip and absolutely loved it. Just a scenic 30-minute drive to Mt Hotham, and the views along the way are stunning. The property itself is beautiful. Clean, cozy, and stocked with everything you need. There was plenty of firewood, so we enjoyed a fire every night. The hosts were incredibly accommodating, and we had the best time. Highly recommend!

Harrietville Stay

Very tranquil, peaceful and clean. Secluded location but not far from main town. Loved the bird life and how well the garden was maintained. Cottage was well equip, with lots of room.

Lovely location

We had a lovely time at shady brook. The cottage was clean and comfortable. The garden is absolutely gorgeous, and we enjoyed watching the different types of birds that visited the garden. Definitely recommend, especially during autumn :)

Beautiful Location

We really enjoyed our stay at Shady Brook. My family loved going for walks in the gardens along the Ovens River and spotting all the beautiful birds. The cottage had everything we needed, and was a great place to come back to after our day trips around the local area. Thanks

Weekday Getaway

We had a great time. Poured rain the whole time but didn't take away from the magic of the place. The accommodation was warm and toasty, the fire was excellent. The birdlife was wonderful. We had such a good time sitting by the fire and looking out at the rain and the birdlife. Looking forward to our next visit, hopefully not too far in the future!

Beautiful relaxing comfort.

Shady Brook cottage is a delightful holiday base. The cottage is clean, well appointed and has excellent comfortable bedding. Every room has delightful views of the garden. The quietness is so refreshing. Having the log fire so easily usable topped off the friendly yet unobtrusive hosts service. We loved our stay.

A beautiful haven

John and Anne are excellent hosts. The cottage is extremely clean and everything needed is provided (and more). The garden setting is divine and very hard to match. This is our second stay and we look forward to a future stay in 18 months. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Stunning garden surrounds

Shady Brook cottage was perfect for our stay. John was very welcoming on arrival. I took our two children up to Hotham each day while my wife stayed in Harrietville and it was a beautiful cottage with incredible gardens. There were plenty of birds feeding outside the cottage and a perfect base for day trips to Hotham. Thanks John and Anne.
