Ste Marie du Mont was the first village in France to be liberated on June 6th 1944. Ste mere Eglise still has the parachutist effigy hanging from the church tower.
Band of Brothers story featured in episodes 2 & in the very heart of where we are located.
Along the coast other invasion beaches such as Point du Hoc Arromanches, with its visible remains of the Mulberry Harbour, are all easy access and well worth a visit.
There is so much to do here, not just the invasion beaches.... Bayeux Tapestry, Mont St Michel, Caen, UNESCO St Vaast la Hougue & the Isle Tatihou, Barfleur where William the Conqueror (set sail from), Briquebec, St Saveur Vicompte & Valognes where castles exist from the 100 years war. Sundays are very quiet so be careful if you have forgotten something very few shops are open, the only shops that are open are a few butchers & bakers
