Lake View Cottage comfortably accommodates up to six in three bedrooms, and is ideally located on the outskirts of West Down in North Devon just a few miles from the award-winning Woolacombe beach.

This tastefully decorated cottage is the perfect home-away-from-home for families with two onsite fishing lakes available, just bring your own rods, and a children's play area. The cottage's position also means it is only a short drive from some of the areas most loved beaches and tourist attractions.

Lake View has a large open plan, spacious living space, which has been divided into a nice cosy lounge with a wood-burner stove, a TV and a iPod docking station, there are also patio doors leading out to the terrace, which overlooks the fishing lakes; a well-equipped kitchen and a good sized dining area.

Lake View has three bedrooms, these include a Master with double bed and en-suite shower room, and two twin bedrooms with full size single beds. The family bathroom is fitted with a bath, a separate shower cubicle, a toilet and a wash basin.

Please note there are five further cottages at Lower Aylescott, which are varying in size.

A wonderful week

We stayed at the end of July as part of a large booking - 21 of us! We love returning to the Cottages, with this year being our 3rd time. Lakeview Cottage was as wonderful as ever - very clean, comfortable and with plenty of space for everyone. The fishing lake was enjoyed by all and the children loved the park and the open grass space. A small drive to our favourite beaches and places to eat in Woolacombe. A great week, we'll definitely look forward to next time! Thank you for having us.

The cottage was beautiful inside and out, very spacious in every room, The only downside to us was the beds were not very comfortable, too hard (that’s our own opinion though ) Would still visit again though

Beautiful Lake View Cottage

Lake View Cottage was absolutely beautiful!! From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcome. The owners were incredibly accommodating and were always on hand if we needed anything. We were even greeted with a delicious cake along with fresh milk, tea and coffee, which was such a thoughtful touch and made us feel right at home. The cottage itself was wonderful, spotlessly clean, well maintained and very comfortable. The views were simply breathtaking and made it the perfect peaceful retreat. It really is an idyllic place to stay. One of the highlights of our visit was the fishing lake. It was the perfect place for my grandson to learn to fish for the first time. It was lovely to watch his confidence grow as he quickly progressed to putting his own bait on and casting by himself. Although the fish we caught were quite small there were plenty of them making it great experience for a beginner. We made some amazing family memories during our stay at Lake View. The whole atmosphere was so relaxing and tranquil allowing us to completely unwind and enjoy our time together. It is also very close to lots of different places to visit, ie, Woolacombe & Ilfracombe. I would happily return again and again and would highly recommend the cottages at Lower Aylescott, especially Lake View Cottage. If you are looking for a beautiful, peaceful getaway with wonderful hosts and stunning surroundings, this is the perfect place to stay.

Perfect location with comfortable & spacious accommodation for 4 adult & 2 children

Easy access to North Devon coast. Lane to cottages narrow but no problem with adequate parking; although distance from car to Lake View for unloading & loading not particularly easy. The patio area and view of lake with play area in distance is excellent. Larger fridge/freezer needed in Lake View especially with a family of 6 staying for a week's self catering, but I think this may be addressed in the future? Thoroughly enjoyable, comfortable week especially with fantastic weather!

A hidden Gem

Lakeside cottage is reached by a long and winding country lane. The views are beautiful and there is a lake for fishing, our friend caught quite a few fish. Its very quiet and peaceful. There is also a well equipped play area for children set a short distance from the cottage. The cottage is very comfortable and has all mod cons. The Crown Inn West Down is a 15 min walk away and offered very reasonable food. Braunton has lots of restaurants, our favourite was the French Corner Bistro. I would recommend Fliers taxi's if you don't want to drive. Very reliable. Ilfracombe tunnels worth a visit, lovey beeches at Woolacombe, Saunton and Crowd. Lynton and Lymouth is a must, very quaint and unspoilt. Great golf at Saunton Sands and Royal North Devon, West wood ho Thanks to Janine and James the owners who were very helpful, we certainly enjoyed our stay.

Lovely spacious cottage with magnificent views

Lovely, spacious cottage, well equipped and clean with its own large terrace overlooking the garden and lake. Janine, one of the owners was very friendly and helpful. Double ensuite room is separated from the two twin rooms by the living room.The tow twin bedded rooms share a large bathroom with both bath and a large shower cubicle. The kitchen has all the usual facilities including dishwasher, washing machine and fridge/freezer plus a separate fridge which is ideal for beer and wine. Peaceful location but only a few minutes drive from local pub and only 10 minutes from a large supermarket. 15 to 20 minutes drive from Ilfracombe and three other easide resorts. You definitely need a car though. Fishing is ideal for (supervised) youngsters with lots of small fish. Nature lovers will find many different birds: we often saw a woodpecker feeding on the large lawn area plus 2 Canada geese with 3 very young goslings and a robin was usually around looking for crumbs when we were eating outside.
