Kyrenia, Cyprus - Peaceful three bedroom large apartment (220 m2). On the first floor of a building with only 3 floors and hence 1 apartment per floor. It is like a villa without swimming pool! In walking distance of town center. And just 10 minutes drive to many beaches.

All rooms are air-conditioned. 3 bedrooms, one with en-suite bathroom. the two other bedrooms share a bathroom where there is a bathtub/ shoer, plus shower room. There is an additional WC for guest use. Bedrooms have wooden parquet flooring, good cupboard space and large balconies. The spacious lounge and dining room (50 m2) features an open-plan kitchen area and natural marble floor. North facing balcony of the saloon has an outdoor dining area and a built-in grill & fireplace. All windows are double glazed (master bedroom also has one way glass film so that the interior can not be seen from outside in daylight) with external sun blinds and mesh screens.

Location:

Kyrenia is an idyllic town. It has a busy nightlife offering different cuisines, bars, clubs and casinos, all set against its stunning unspoilt and newly restored Venetian harbour. The lively harbour cafe area, the historic centre of Kyrenia, is just 15 minutes walk. In the harbour you can book a round the island trip on a Gumbet-style wooden boat. A 10-pin bowling centre is within 5 minutes walk of the apartment.

Korenium Golf Club, an internationally recognized golf course with all amenities, is 20 mins drive. The main turtle sanctuary of Alagadi is 15 minutes drive. Further afield is the Karpas peninsula nature reserve with its spectacular scenery. Whether you like a well catered beach with sun loungers, water sports and a great restaurant or somewhere sandy but deserted, Apartment Colonade serves as a fine centre point. There are also many historical places from Venetian times to visit while the capital Nicosia is an easy 20 minutes drive.

Getting here:

You have a choice of flying to Ercan airport (North Cyprus) with a transfer time of 25 minutes. Alternatively, for a wider choice of airlines, fly to Larnaca (South Cyprus) with a transfer time of 90 minutes or Paphos (south Cyprus) with transfer time of 20 hours. We can assist with Airport transfers and car hire.

Spacious Kyrenia Apartment

We used this location to tour north Cyprus. A great base with an extremely helpful owner to provide ideas of where to eat and go. We were delighted and wished we could have stayed longer. Within easy reach of supermarkets and restaurants as well as the road links to other areas we can definitely recommend it.

Great Location

Really good location to get into the centre of Kyrenia. The property was spacious and the heating and hot water worked well - always a major plus. The bathrooms are a little tired, but fully functional although the water pressure could be a bit better. The property manager, Erhan did offer to get the plumber out, but we decided to work with it. A welcome pack of the basics would have been appreciated, but Ethan very kindly gave us some coffee to get us started, thank you! Good value for money.

Fantastic 3 bed apartment with views of St Hiil Mt

We have visited N. Cyprus on several occasions. On this occasion we decided to rent an apartment for 2.5 weeks. Selcuk met us by the fountain roundabout and took us to the 3 bed apartment. The apartment was immaculate and large with all three bedrooms having access to balconies. It was so pleasant at the start and end of each day to sit outside with great views of St Hilarian castle. One of the balconies has a stone barbecue which we used on a couple of occasions. The apartment was in a convenient location with easy access to supermarkets with easy access to the town centre e.g. 10mins by car. The apartment was well equipped, furnished, clean and well maintained. We could n,t have asked for a better apartment. Furthermore, although the apartment has air conditioning through, we requested fans from Selcuk who met our needs by fitting ceiling fans in two of the bedrooms the following day. Our only quibble was the flat screen TV which had limited access to English channel, namely bbc world news. It would have been good had the TV had a USB port availble on newer TVs so that I could have plugged my hard drive to watch films, but then again we were n't on holiday to watch TV.

Large, bright and comfortable apartment

Sel is a terrific host who met us on arrival and gave us a thorough overview of the apartment. The apartment is very large with an abundance of windows and access to outdoor patios, three in total. There are two beautiful green spaces adjacent to the apartment with various fruit trees which makes for pleasant viewing and gives a sense of openness around the property with the exception of the southern side, which has several apartment buildings, some in the latter stages of construction. The master bedroom is very large and has a comfortable bed with feather pillows and duvet. The other two bedrooms appear to also have quality beds and certainly the linens. The kitchen is very functional and we cooked our own meals during our stay. There is a mid sized grocery store about 5 minutes walk and a bakery as well. If you venture a bit farther, there are restaurants and a larger grocery store. If you like walking, the old harbour is accessible - 25 - 30 minute walk. We would recommend a car to be able to get the best out of your time in Cyprus as there is a lot to see within a couple hours east or west. (We used Pacific Rentals, a local company who offers a drop off and pick up service from your apartment - an excellent service.) It is about a 25 minute drive to the capital city Lefkosa. The people who live in the other parts of the villa downstairs and above this unit are quiet and friendly. Do take note that you will need to budget to cover the costs of electricity which can be expensive depending on your lifestyle habits - this is not unique to Sel's apartment - this is life in Cyprus. We enjoyed staying in Sel's apartment and appreciated Sel's warmth, responsiveness and hospitality.

Disappointed

We found a number of items not working or missing. There was no hairdryer, clothes dryer, coffee maker or microwave. The dishwasher did not clean the dishes, the washing machine only worked at a very high temperature and the shower tray leaked. The external blinds also did not operate. After 2 days we received a hairdryer, clothes dryer and a coffee machine. We also received 4 thick bath mats to try and absorb the leaking water from the shower! Despite being told some one would call to to look at the dishwasher this never happened. We had intended to report the defective washing machine when they called. The apartment is very spacious but rather dated. The crockery is all mismatched, chipped and stained. The majority of the saucepans are not really useable, the curtains on the absence of blinds were inadequate and resulted in the bedrooms being very bright from early morning and made sleeping after around 6.30am difficult. Sitting outside on one of the spacious balconies would have been pleasant if it were not for the continuous stream of large lorries travelling to a building site at the top of the road. The banging noise as they went over the speed humps and the dist they created made Sitting outside very unpleasant. The external parts were not maintained and building rubble, weeds and general rubbish were just left. The lounge area of the open plan living area was comfortable, as were the beds. The BBQ area was good and usable once the lorries had stopped.

The most trouble some guest we have ever had in 12 years of short let. He was never happy with anything we providrd and searched for thibgs he could make trouble on. I yried very hard tı satisfy his demands but he just kept asking for more tgere is absoluteky nothing wrong with diseasher, he nrver mentioned that there was anything wrong with eashing machine and the clothes dryer we provided he never even openned to use. There is nothing wrong with crockery, they wetr recently purchased, fror the previosvtenants, we can not putchase a new set for each tenant.

We have taken note of your comments and shall switch to wireless reception when the current subscription expires at the end of february. In the meantime, ı hzve jyst checked and found the internet quite good for social use, even though it was cleagly not fast enough for connecting to your bysiness cpmputer back in germany. I am really sad to read this review, despite doing all we could to make it a pleasent stay for them. On our heaviliy discounted prices due to covid-19, they had asked for a further 15% discount, with which we obliged. We had sent them full directions and google location for self check-in with key from the key-safe, so in line with local requirements we did not need to meet face-to-face before their test results were available the next day. Despite this, they got lost calling for our help at midnight on a Saturday night. I obliged, taking thempersonally to the flat with no complaint. Electricity is expensive in Cyprus. Up until last year we used to charge extra for it. However, it felt kind of mean to calculate the amount of kWs of electricity used; so since last year we included electricity in the rent. Over the previous 5 years, the max daily usage was 30 kW, so we accounted for this level of usage in our rental calculation. We were alarmed to see that these guests daily usage in the first few days was around 85 kW. My nephew who lives downstairs also noticed that all 4 air-cons were on 24 hours a day, indicating that they were set on very low temperatures. On the 5th day of their rental we asked for more careful usage, or contribution towards the excess. They chose the former but their usage did not decrease significantly. We decided to absorb this cost and said nothing further. 5-6 days before their departure the guests informed that they had no running water. We called for a plummer (cost £50), who reported that their 4 ton reservoir tanks were empty (due to municipality restricting supply to every other day as a result of general water shortages). My nephew called for a tanker, but as he did not have any cash on him, asked the guests to pay the the 40 TL (FIVE EURO) to the tanker. They refused, saying that the water supply should be included in the rent. We were upset to be faced such meanness. My nephew borrowed money from neighbours to settle with the tanker. After their departure we noticed that they had the immersion heater on, despite a huge notice that it is only for use between November-March (solar panels provide almost boiling hot water April-October). The element overheated, costing £150 to have it and and its tank replaced. Two wooden bedside tables were left in two of the bathrooms, which swelled up from the wet. In the living room two of the curtains were off their rails and study table was left in the middle of kitchen.

Fantastic Apartment

We stayed in this lovely apartment for 5 weeks. We were met on arrival by Erhan, who explained everything to us. The apartment was spotless, huge, and had everything we needed. It is in a nice, quiet, area with views of the mountains, and from the side balcony you can just see the sea, in between the fruit trees. The beds and lounge furniture are so comfy, it really is a home from home. Wouldnt hesitate to recommend the apartment to anyone, it would comfortably suit 6 adults or a family with children. Sorry we didn't get to meet you Sel, but we knew you and erhan were there if we needed you. Once again thank you

Huge apartment. Spotless. Very well equipped kitchen. There was even some sun tan lotions for us to use!! Spotless extra towels/bedding. The apartment is in a residential area. We found it very safe and quiet. The host... Dr. Seluks nephew Erhan lives downstairs.. what a superb host. Could not do enough for us. Late one night, 12pm, we had no water, so I checked usual things messaged Erhan and straight away he got back to us saying he'd come straight away. I said no leave it till morning. Only to find out my partner had turned off the water pump by mistake !! But the fact that Erhan was prepared to come straight away regardless of the time says it all!! Recommend this apartment without a doubt. We would like to say a heartfelt thankyou to Erhan you made us feel so welcome and ensured we felt that we could contact you anytime if there was a problem. Beautiful property

Spacious, well equipped apartment in a nice area.

Sel was always available for help and information if needed even when he was away on business. The apartment was spacious and a very good standard as described and had supermarket and restaurants fairly close. Depending on your walking speed and the route you decide to take, you can be at the harbour in 20-25 minutes. It was a great base for us. We wanted to investigate Northern Cyprus by car and the ease of access to the major routes was very helpful. We were very pleased with our stay.

Lovely apartment, few problems that can't be fixed

After a few early hitches we had an excellent time. The manager of our apartment, 'Dr Sel', was friendly and helpful throughout our correspondence in advance. Unfortunately he couldn't be there when we arrived, leaving an assistant, Ismail, who was also friendly and helpful but didn't speak a word of English. (His partner was supposed to, but didn't make contact, and my phone wasn't operating so we couldn't contact her). The flat is lovely, very spacious, cool and comfortable, but wasn't quite ready when we arrived, with no soap or toilet paper in any of the three bathrooms, or washing-up liquid in the otherwise well appointed kitchen. However, Ismail managed to show us the local supermarket (very near) and also found us food. The house is in a pleasant residential area, with a few basic shops and restaurants, but quite noisy in the daytime with building works in the vicinity, and too far for us to walk to the old town and harbour in the stunning heat of mid-May (32 C daily). Fortunately we found an excellent small car hire company literally round the corner, with English speaking staff, nice air-conditioned cars and reasonable prices. Once we had our wheels we had a wonderful stay in this fascinating country. There were more excursions to make than we could manage in the time, but we especially loved the old harbour area of Kyrenia, and our apartment was a shady refuge from the heat.

I am delighted that our guests had an excellent time in the apartment and in North Cyprus. I am sorry that I was not able to meet the guests personally, but my manager, who lives in the apartment below was able to tend to all our guests needs, including driving them to and back to the local grocery shop (200 m away) and local restaurant (500 m away). Regarding the comment that apartment wasn't quite ready when the guests arrived because there was no soap or toilet paper or washing-up liquid", we do not promise such items in this self-catering apartment. Regarding the distance to the harbour, our advert clearly states that it is a 15 minute walk; this was clearly challenging for our elderly guests who were sadly not very mobile. In any way, our advert recommends car hire for visiting all the many interesting places of North Cyprus. I am happy to hear that our guests did that and then could use the car to go to the harbour too. Regarding the noise, I am afraid Kyrenia is getting more crowded and there is nothing that we can do about that as I presume what our guest eludes to by saying "few problems that can not be fixed". What we can say is that at least all heavy development work around OUR residential area is now completed.

We appreciate Lucia's comments. Regarding the comment that the apartment was a "bit cold", all the rooms of the apartment is provided with air-conditioning units that also provide heating. In order to provide the best value for our guests, we keep the rent to the minimum and charge additionally for electricity so that: (i) those guests that do not use much electricity do not get charged for the electricity they have not used; (ii) we do not end up paying all the rental income on electricity, if the guest is careless and leaves air conditioning on all day with doors and windows open! This is the coldest month in Cyprus, with daytime temperatures of 16-22 and night time temperatures of 9-12 degreescentigrade. We note that the previous guest used £11.73 per day, while Lucia's use was £5.95 per day, almost exactly half. I would I suggest that this is the reason why Lucia found the apartment "a bit cold".

A very lovely property in an amazing quiet peaceful area

A very lovely spacious property. Stayed here for 5 nights and Sel the owner was very kind to allow us to have a late check out at midnight for free, this was very much appreciated. We arrived at the property in the night as had flown in on the south side. Stayed here with my granddaughter whom I had come to visit who is studying at one of the local universities. 2 of her friends came to stay with us. We had an amazing and memorable time. Everything is within walking distance, the shops, restaurants even the harbour. Will definitely be going back. Because it is still winter, evenings were chilly and we had to have the heaters on but I think in the summer it can be an amazing place. The property would do with a microwave which unfortunately I cannot do without as I love my food piping hot, otherwise I cannot fault this place in any way. The tv is also in Turkish which is to be expected but cannot complain as there is wifi in the property, one the Amazon box is connected, this will be fantastic. Planning for our next visit. Thanks Sel for a wonderful stay.

I am disappointed by the 3-star only rating given by Cynhia, after all the positive comments she has made about the apartment. If this is as a result of being disappointed at the lack of microwave and Amazon tv, these were never promised at any time.

Unfortunately this is so ALL OVER CENTRAL KYRENIA currently. We apologize for the inconvenience caused but it is something that is TOTALLY out of our hands. Any apartment chosen in the centre of Kyrenia will suffer the same fate. Fortunately the building works around OUR apartment is in the final stages so piece and quite should return by the end of this year.

amazing and comfortable

the house looks better than it does in the pics. it is very spacious with an all white interior. it is every thing you need from bedsheets to towels and washing machine and a.c in all room. my family Did enjoy its stay there. the host is very understanding and quite nice as well

Appartamento fantastico!

Appartamento bellissimo, ampio, spazioso e luminoso. Ampi terrazzi e grandi vetrate illuminano ogni ambiente della casa. Situato in una zona tranquilla appena fuori dal centro dista 15 minuti a piedi dal borgo vecchio, dal porto e dal castello di Kyrenia. Rapporto qualià/prezzo ottimo. Lo consiglio vivamente!

Brilliant stay

This is our third stay at Sel's apartment, and wish we could have stayed longer than our 6 weeks. We were met by Sel, at a time suitable for us. The apartment was spotlessly clean, the kitchen fully equipped, and bathroom facilities superb. Comfortable beds, lots of linen and towels. Huge wardrobe space in all three bedrooms. Back verandah, used for hanging washing, looks over garden which has olive and fig trees growing. Side verandah, we used for meals when we use the BBQ facilities. This area over looked lot next door which has lemon, mandarine, almond trees growing. Very pleasant. Front verandah, we used for afternoon while admiring the view of the Kyrenia mountains. The apartment as huge entertaining area and comfortable sofas. Parking, loads of area in front of apartment. We were walking distance to local supermarkets, butcher, hairdressing, dentist, etc. In the evenings we would walk down to the beautiful Kyrenia harbour. The position of the apartment make it excellent as a base, as places of interest in Cyprus, are in all directions. Sel, was only a phone call away for any help that we may require. We look forward to seeing Sel next year. Once again thank you so much Neri and Tony

Outstanding property

My husband and I stayed here for 11 nights and certainly hope to return. We have visited the area on several other occasions.We liked the location which was residential and quiet and yet provided easy access to local shops, to the centre of Kyrenia and to all the places we visited during our stay. Parking was easy too. Everything in the property was perfect: fast, reliable wifi (very important for us as we had to work during our stay), very comfortable beds and bedding and plenty of towels, excellent seating and lighting, heating (necessary during a particularly cold spell) and hot water. We like to cook at times and found the kitchen very well equipped. A cafetiere or coffee-making machine would be a welcome addition for coffee lovers - the only thing we missed during our stay. Dr 'Sel' is a charming host and was very quick to provide assistance when required. We spent most of our time walking the wonderful trails to be found in North Cyprus and even in January we found anemones, asphodel and sand crocus in bloom. We can recommend the wonderful Bellapais Gardens Hotel next to Bellapais Abbey for a special meal out, also Niazis and, when we have visited Kyrenia later in the year, we enjoyed eating above the harbour at the Set Fish Restaurant. We would highly recommend this property.

Wonderful week

Unfortunately, my friend and I were only able to stay in this delightful apartment for one week. ( but most certainly we will be back.) It was a really wonderful week. The accommodation was superb. Having been delayed three hours at Gatwick Airport to arrive in the early hours of the morning to walk into such a beautiful apartment was a surprise and joy. Especially as the beds were made up and so comfortable, A charming Sel was kind enough to call us at 3.00 a.m. to check our safe arrival. The surroundings are delightful, the bakery, supermarket and local shops all within 3 minutes walk of the apartment. The walk into town was refreshing although we did have a taxi back. At 10 TL = £3. was well worth it. The local Dolmus buses were interesting, efficient and cheap. You can bus to Nicosia and Famagusto very easily and cheaply interesting to see the countryside. If we had one recommendation it would be really useful to have a microwave and DVD player. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and most certainly will be back.

Wonderful Holiday home

"Wonderful holiday home!" My wife, her 3 lady friends and I stayed in this apartment for a week during the Bayram holidays. We were extremely happy with this spacious,well decorated apartment. The beds and sofas were very comfortable and of a high quality, bed linen too! Modern flat screen TV, wi-fi were icing on the cake. The owner, Sel, was very helpful and gave us plenty of suggestions on places to visit and resataurants to eat in. Even though we did not hire a car, centre of town and the beautiful and historic Kyrenia harbour, with lots of quality restaurants were within easy reach by walking. We chose to take taxis (all Mercedes!!) on the way back and the apartment, and this cost only around 3 GBP. There are many shops and small restaurants within 5 minute walk of the apartment too. We are well seasoned travellers and we are very happy to be recommending this holiday apartment to everyone! Enjoy it!

Almost uniquely in Krenia, the apartment is like a private house as there is only one apartment on each of the 3 floors. The ground floor apartment has its own entrance, while the staircase only serves the two apartments on the 1st and 2nd floors. The other two apartments in the building are owned by owners's sisters.
The garden with olive, orange, lemon, figs, Japanese plum) is shared among the apartments.
Guests have 2 car parking space in enclosed forecourt.
The apartment was designed and built to high specifications of the owner (not a standard building made by a contractor). All rooms are very spacious and comfortable. There are balconies / verandas on three sides, two of which are very large, offering ample sitting, sunbathing and dining space. Members of larger families therefore have plenty of space!
