First of all, this house is a very interesting old house with a lot of neat features. Cool old door locks, some really interesting old electrical switches etc. But, it also has a good mix of modern touches. It's a big house and there is plenty of room to spread out. The stairs to get to the two upstairs bedroom and one upstairs bathroom will not work for older people, so keep that in mind if you have trouble with stairs - they are very narrow and very steep. My wife and I being in our 40's had no issue with the stairs, but at the saying goes, they don't build them like that anymore. Also, it is worth noting that there is not water access on the property, even though it looks like it from the map. But it is "on the water." The neighborhood is nice and quiet, even with being close to Rt. 1. The tennis courts directly across the street are also convenient. The one thing I will say is that if you're looking to stay closer to Bar Harbor, this house is just a little too far away to be considered close to Bar Harbor. It's about a 45 minute drive and if you do that day after day, it gets a little old. But there plenty of other places to check out that are close to the house. Tidal Falls is great, as is the Schoodic Peninsula - which is part of Acadia National Park, but it's much less crowded than the "main" Acadia Park. Lastly if you decide to stay here, look up The Pickled Wrinkle and visit them for dinner - it's REALLY good!! Overall, we enjoyed our week at the house, it was very clean and worked well for our family.
