The location couldn't have been better. The views from the home is outstanding. The cottage is very rustic, more of a shack that a house. The whole deck shakes from just walking on it and felt like it might collapse. Access to the beach is difficult and requires you to cross over to the next door property

I’m glad the location and views were highlights of the stay and thank you for letting us know the deck gave you safety concerns. We will have our maintenance team do a thorough inspection of the deck's foundation/supports and schedule repairs immediately should they find areas needing attention. We do have detailed information on the beach access written up in our guest portal, so guests can prepare ahead of their stay. But thank you for sharing your concerns, we'll see what we can do to clarify the language on the beach access further. Nice, small place. Best feature is the view. No other houses between you and then water. The topography of the coast here makes for amazing wave hypnosis. The listing says: "Follow the private beach access trail directly down to the beach!". This is not a serious statement. Mountain goats and extreme sport people maybe, but no regular human can safely use this path. Did I mention that there's a 6-foot seawall at the bottom of the trail and no stairs or ladder. We booked this place over other places based on direct beach access as stated on the VRBO listing. Keep that in mind when you book.

I apologize for the surprise and frustration with the beach access. We do share in our guest portal that the path is uneven in parts and sometimes a tricky walk, so guests can prepare accordingly. Very relaxing visit - direct beach access

I was only there a couple of nights but really enjoyed the private beach access and deck to set up my camera for a spectacular sunset. The house was very comfortable with a fully applianced kitchen. If this VRBO is available in the off season, I will definitely check into a longer stay.

Cozy cabin, beautiful views

We loved staying here, it was a great experience! A note that although the website says there is laundry, they don’t give you access to it so be prepared for that. Beds were comfy, beach access and views were excellent, our only complaint is how dim the lighting was but not a deal breaker at all!

Gem of a cottage

Great little place; perfect for rest and relaxation and enjoying the beauty of the Oregon coast. So much wonderful work has gone into upgrading! A few challenges with the check-in and property management, but overall it was a wonderful experience and highly recommended.

Peacefully private

Despite houses being very close, we felt we were alone on the short bluff. Even the deck was extremely private. Beach access was great - the short descent was an adventure! The listing description was spot on. It would be more lovely if the fireplace worked. The woodwork, art and decor was perfect for the PNW beach. We appreciated the binoculars for watching birds and sea lions.

Cozy Cabin Vibes

This little house gives off cozy cabin vibes from the moment you arrive. The view is stunning (from the huge windows inside or the deck with comfy chairs) & you have everything you need for a getaway at the beach. I love that it’s almost at the end of the road so the beach wasn’t packed with people as it can be in some areas. The tide pools are a stones throw away which is awesome! While the trail down to the beach could use some attention, it’s a short walk down and totally doable (even while baby wearing an 8 month old), would not recommend for anyone a little unsteady on their feet. The only couple of bummers: The fireplace doesn’t work even though it looks like it’s a brand new gas insert but not a deal breaker- it would just be the icing on the cake for an added cozy feel & the king bed bottom sheet wasn’t a fitted one (a flat sheet tucked in as best they could) so it got all sorts of tangled up, but again not a deal breaker. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting a cozy stay while at the beach!

Need better lighting

Enjoyed the "Scandinavian" style. But why was the lighting so dim in the dining room/living room. Could not play board games nor do jigsaw puzzles. Also, why was iy no noted that tthere were two steps down from bedrooms to living room and from entry to dining area. Last night my husband took what could have been a nasty fall when he couldn't see the steps and fell. I have to use a cane to walk. Of note: only learned no fireplace two days before our stay; there was a problem with the coffee pot in that it didn't keep the pot warm (kept turning itself off); never found a washer or dryer; no power to lamp in east bedroom on right side of bed.

Great location-good deal

Good deal for the price. Older home but tidy. Small but oceanfront. The only issue we had was with the listed Private Beach access. There are stairs to the sea wall from the SW corner of the backyard. At the sea wall level— one needs to cross over about 50 feet to the sea wall steps in front of the Northern neighbor home to the beach. We had no issues with beach access the first couple of days— but on our last day there… a very unruly neighbor (guest/renter) physically confronted us and told us quite firmly that the access to the sea wall steps was private to their property— and they would not let us cross over the 50 feet to the final steps. A discussion followed as the path from this property leads directly to the sea wall steps. Our neighbor would not relent and used physical threats to tell us to turn back— which we finally did. Public access to the beach is just up the road by foot— or about a mile if you need car parking. Hopefully your experience will grant you a better neighbor. But the property owner or Management company needs to clarify the “private” beach access. There was no folder of notes and recommendations which included beach access instructions. They should put the information in the home to share with others who may not believe this home as private beach access. With private beach access— place is a winner.

Nice place, but broken oven/stovetop

We arrived late after a long day flying/driving and we were just looking forward going to sleep. We got settled in, and around 11pm, heard a loud beeping coming from the kitchen area. My husband got up and noticed it was the oven giving an F11error. Since it was late, he just pressed the OFF button and the noise went away. We thought this had solved the problem, but we were wrong. It continued for the next 3 hours, every hour, until finally he unplugged the oven. We contacted Meredith Lodging the next day and they sent someone out to check it, but he was unable to fix it. Later that day, the owners family member and another repairman showed up and tried to fix the problem, but were not able to. So, for our 4 night stay, we had no access to an oven or stove top. After we checked out, we received an email from Meredith Lodging wanting to know how our stay was. We told them we were not happy about not having any way to cook food for our entire stay and simply asked for one nights rental to be refunded, especially since the first night we were not able to sleep due to the noise. After a few days, we received an email stating Meredith Lodging would give us $100 credit towards our next rental, but we had to rent through them, not VRBO in order to receive this. We paid $350/night for this trip and probably will never use this realtor, so this really doesn’t help. However, the view was great from the house.

Enjoyed our stay place was very clean . Outside needs better lighting. Very hard to find at night. Fireplace needs to be functional, very misleading Decor is a bit creepy. Pictures need updating Confirmation address and. Email address did not match. Some Of the lights did not work. Great view and location was good. Price was fair. Overall nice time.

Fantastic view

Lovely small cottage with large windows for a fantastic view of the beach and ocean. Home well equipped. Easy access to grocery store a few minutes away.

Cabin feel.

This house is a cute wooden cabin feel. Great views. Nice set up. The rooms were spacious. The balcony was wonderful to sit out and watch the sunset. Cons:The front porch light was motion activated so going in was fine coming out was a little tricky. The light doesn't come on till your at the bottom of the steps. The interior lights were dim. Fireplace not usable. The directions don't tell you that you have to find the string to go in the fenced yard to enter house. Arriving after dark was interesting. But I would stay here again loved the wooden cabin feel.

Great rustic home. Contemporary furnishings

Great home. Great beach view and access. Kitchen and cleaning supplies sparse especially for longer stays. However, housekeeping services would have accommodated, we are sure if asked.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: superb view and comfortable cottage. We did experience considerable challenges figuring out the entertainment technology. detailed instruction sheet would be most helpful. also the low lighting light bulbs in all the lamps, while lovely for pleasant ambience, made it impossible to read. we ended up buying 100 watt bulbs to switch them out while we were there.

Perfect Cozy Cabin

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Loved this all wood interior, historic cabin. It is furnished beautifully, with a mid-century flair. While small, it was perfect for a short stay with gorgeous, ocean views. Clean and well maintained, especially loved the long entry for hanging coats and leaving sandy shoes before entering the cabin. My one complaint, was not being able to have a fire, whether wood or gas to enjoy in the grand rock fireplace. Candles are not even allowed. I can understand with an older wood cabin, but I've never stayed at an ocean property where we weren't allowed some ambiance with fire. That being said, we definitely would choose Salal Bluff again!
