Regarding the 10am checkout, that is actually the most common standard across vacation rentals and helps allow enough time to properly prepare the home for the next guests. We do our best to accommodate late checkouts whenever possible, but in this case we had another arrival scheduled that same day. We apologize for any inconvenience and truly appreciate your understanding. We hope to have the opportunity to host you again in the future!

We’re disappointed to read this review, especially considering the condition in which the property was left and the behavior of the guests. Despite being informed in advance of occasional visits to care for chickens on-site, we were accused of showing up unannounced—something that never occurred. What did happen, however, was the unauthorized entry into a separate, locked unit not included in their rental. That space was clearly off-limits, and charges were applied accordingly. The home was left in disarray: doors and windows wide open, trash left behind, dishes piled high, and a window found broken during the post-stay inspection completed just one hour after checkout. This particular window had stood through multiple hurricanes without issue, yet was completely shattered after their stay. When contacted, the guest denied responsibility, stating, “That window was fine when we got there. We never touched the hallway windows.” We believe this review was written in retaliation after being held accountable with a $400 charge for the damage. It does not reflect the reality of the stay. We remain committed to hosting respectful guests who appreciate and care for the space—something this group clearly did not.
