Casa Caballo - highs and lows
The house is spacious, very comfortable and well appointed. The room AC units worked flawlessly. We were met by the owner’s assistant, Roberto, who walked us through the house, and showed us how to use the golf cart (a must in Punta Mita!) The patio is perfect for a morning coffee, sitting by the pool, and above the street level activities, which were abundant. The location of the house in in the town, and there is construction going on closer to the marina, a block or 2 away. There were trucks, tractors and various automobiles along the street throughout the day. The back porch is very quiet and the grounds are well kept and manicured. There was a gardener who showed up every other day to water the grounds and clean the pool.
But the big issue is that there is a fishing guide business located across the street from Casa Caballo, where they park their trucks and boats in the evening. The workers/owners have 2 large dogs at the property, one of which barked for long periods of time throughout the day and night. Daytime barking is bearable, but when you are awakened between 1 and 6 times per night, every night, this becomes an issue. I communicated with the owner, who had Roberto contact the house about the barking problem. But it persisted throughout our six night stay and made nights very long.
It is a great property and the town of Punta Mita is low key and very easy to navigate and enjoy. But the nightly dog issue was brutal and put a real damper on on our stay.
