Brought a pet that was not in the reservation and even though we resolved a clogged sink and broken toilet seat within an hour of being informed of the issue, did not seem appreciative.

I had mowed the lawn just before you arrived and there was maybe one or two pieces of goose poop in the yard. Had you informed me I would’ve come over and cleaned up the goose poop as we’ve been pretty good at deter the geese from coming up on the yard. If you had informed me about the dog hair, I would’ve inspected the house and if I would’ve confirmed your concerns. I would have been happy to refund. My wife had clean the house and had spent hours removing all the dog hair so I’m a bit skeptical in regards to your complaint. The outdoor furniture is older and faded, but it is clean as I just pressure washed it two or three weeks ago. You left the house in pretty horrendous shape and it was trashed and it took my wife two hours to clean all the dog hair from your dog. As it says in our welcome book, please call us to inform of any complaints or concerns. It is a cottage on the lake with the woods behind it and stated so in the description of the property again as we say, call us with any concerns and we will address it and make it right.

The guest interacted w/me when they checked in on Saturday & Sunday as we were removing what was left of a 50ft oak that was snapped from a storm. They did not mention any issues as we finished up the clean up all day on Sunday. If the guest had mentioned the house being “filthly”, we would have verified and addressed. We pay our cleaner every dollar of the cleaning fee and expect a high standard. Not saying anything & calling VRBO after you check out does not allow the host to address any concerns.The beach is sandy but we have no control over mother nature and the lake has done unusual things this year - we can only remove what washes up. Having a major storm (2 tornadoes touched down 10 miles in line with the storm from our house and trees were down every where) stirred up the lake. The dock had all the boards replaced 2 years ago & shows no signs of being dried out. The lawn was mowed and did not have bottle caps & broken water balloons on it (we cleaned up the sticks the week before. The tree guy who was working at my neighbors is not our arborist & was unaware that we inoculate the ash tree which is not dead & apologized to me for being overzealous. The green kayak had a plug tied to it when the renter checked in. The firewood was free & there is 5 plastic chairs by the house along w/ a picnic table, bench & swing by the fire pit. Had the guest contacted us we would’ve verified and remediated any and all issues as we live close by.

If there is an issue or concern, we are close by and will address any area that is unsatisfactory. Our modest house/cottage, which it is advertised as such, did not meet this renters expectations. It is exactly like it is from the pictures on Homeaway. As for the water depth (as per the description), I walked out in the water to show the depth was no shallower then 2 ft deep. He said "maybe I didn't trim all the way up." No lift is or was ever advertised. The weather the week of this stay was not perfect and is why we explained the reason why we provide a slip (with free launching) that is only one mile away so boats and the dock do not get damaged as Oneida Lake turns choppy when the wind picks up. This renter was upset about his inability to navigate to the dock in 2ft waves. The dock is safe and is a Northern Lights brand aluminum dock. The previous weeks renters had tied up their 4 boats with no problem. The renter also had an issue backing his trailer and although there is over an acre of land, continually parked on neighboring lawns even after I politely requested he not do so. There has never been an issue with parking a trailer. As for no salt, the reviewer correctly states we don't provide food. There are more pots and pans than needed along with a full set of dishes, glasses, and flatware. The renter never requested any additional pots or state that we did not provide what was in the description. We do provide a roll of paper towels, rolls of toilet paper and a small bottle of dish soap. As for the beach not being raked, we clean, and rake the beach each Saturday and if more seaweed comes in, it can be raked and piled to the side. I maintain the beaches to the left and the right of our property which is about 250ft of shoreline. As for the lawn, mowing is done weekly, weather permitting - I am not sure what "too long is" and is a subjective comment. I mow and do all the weed trimming for the property and the next door neighbor. The town will cite you for grass being to long. We do not oversell the house/cottage. It is on a private road with woods behind the house between the woods and the water, there will be bugs. We spray for spiders and ants around the house so there are no spiderwebs on the house. I would suggest bringing bug spray as mosquitoes like woods and water.
