Das Anwesen befindet sich zwischen den Städten in der Nähe Alford & Huntly auf einem Bauernhof in Lumsden gesetzt. Das "Stables" besteht aus 1 Schlafzimmer mit Doppelbett und 1 Schlafzimmer mit einem Kingsize-Bett mit Reißverschluss und Link, das in 2 Einzelbetten umgewandelt werden kann. Jedes Zimmer verfügt über ein eigenes en-suite Dusche. Durch den Flur betreten Sie die offene Küche, Wohnzimmer und Esszimmer und hier können Sie sich entspannen und auf die Aussicht auf die atemberaubende Landschaft blicken. Das Anwesen ist doppelt verglast mit einem Holzofen und Fußbodenheizung. Es gibt eine Terrasse mit einem kleinen Rasen. Hier können Sie entspannen und die Felder von Tieren und Tierwelt auf dem Bauernhof genießen.
In der Nähe liegt die kleine Stadt Alford mit lokalen Annehmlichkeiten und auch die Grampian Transport Museum & The Alford Heritage Museum. Es gibt viele Freizeitaktivitäten in der Nähe wie Wandern, Angeln, Go - Kart & Golf. Die Cairngorm National Park ist ein 30 Minuten Autofahrt entfernt und wenn Sie die Lecht & Aviemore Skigebiete genießen Skifahren sind offen in den Wintermonaten. Wir befinden uns auf der Hauptroute der Castle Trails & Whisky-Brennereien entfernt. Besuchen Sie die schönen Küstenstädte Portsoy & Newburgh & genießen Sie die herrlichen Strände von North East Scotland. Die Hauptstadt von Aberdeen ist 45 Minuten entfernt mit vielen Museen, Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. Aberdeen Flughafen ist eine 30-minütige Fahrt zum Hotel.

Amazing cottage on peaceful farm

This place is a gem. Everything in the „stables“ was well picked and nicely designed. Not too much, not too little- just spot on. Thomas was friendly and it was so lovely experiencing all the animals and pure nature. A great place to stay and we would love to come back.

Amazing place, loved it. From the welcome from Thomas and the biscuits and Prosecco. We were made to feel at home. House was lovely and warm all week. The snow came in and we couldn’t get back up the drive so we had to park in the village Thomas came out and picked me up and took me back to house. He also took us all back to our car across the fields as it had snow so much. Brilliant hosts, house and the views were amazing.

Lovely Serene Setting

We visit Aberdeenshire most Decembers and the setting of this charming cottage is about as idyllic as it gets. We enjoyed it very much and some of our favourite places (Crathie, Ballater, Braemer, Duff House) are within easy reach.

Peace and quiet after a busy day touring

The Stables offered us a peaceful retreat after busy days touring castles, hiking and tasting whiskey! The location was perfect! The cottage clean with all the kitchen essentials to fix a nice Scottish meal after a long day! The quiet of the countryside and the beautiful highlands surroundings made for a relaxing peaceful stay. We plan to return!

Heaven in the Highlands

Out of all the properties we stayed on our holiday, this one was by far the best. Thomas and the family have made a haven in the highlands. The accommodations were quiet and comfortable; the personal welcome and basket were incredible. The farm is peaceful and serene. Thomas was very generous with his time to answer questions and to allow us freedom to explore the beautiful scenery. We cannot say enough about this stay - it was incredible. Would not hesitate to book again the future!!

A beautifully presented cottage in peaceful surrounding on a working farm. We couldn't believe how lovely it was. It was light and airy but with a warm cosy feeling too. The photos on VRBO really don't do it justice. The cottage was finished to a high standard and had everything we needed. The welcome gift of traditional Scottish goodies was a lovely touch.We were very lucky with the weather and sat out until late viewing the dark skies and listening to the owls calling.There is another cottage (The Byre) attached to The Stables but you wouldn't know as they are insulated so well.We really didn't want to leave and hope to be back in the future.

Short winter farm break

We spent three days in February in the Stables. The cottage was warm, comfortable and well equipped. Two very good bedrooms with excellent ensuite facilities. The kitchen/living room was also well equipped and had great views. Our only minor criticism is that we would have liked an extra easy chair so that the four of us could all sit in comfortable chairs. (There were four dining chairs as well as a sofa and an easy chair.) The location was very rural with great views and dark skies and a short walk down to Limsden village which had a few facilities including a small shop. Plenty of tourist information in the cottage.

Lovely converted stable!

We had a wonderful time in Lumsden. The Stable is a great place if you want a quiet and modern accommodation. Two bedrooms with cozy beds and private bathrooms, a well equipped kitchen and, for cold days, floor heating. It´s a perfect conversion of a stable into a wonderful, clean and high standard accommodation. A perfect place to relax and find new energy! If you want to drive around, you can take The Malt Whisky Trail, The Schottlands Castle Trail or you take a trip through the Cairngorms National Park and you will find a of of wonderful places. Or you walk around and enjoy the Farm, the Animals, Bill is a wonderful horse and the sights of the Bogheads hills and meadows. If possible we will come back, because this is a wonderful place and Fiona is a friendly host. We had some nice conversations!

Thank you for your review, as with most rural locations and due to a lack of a regular public transport system some sort of personal transport is needed to visit the many attractions and scenic locations in the area.

Wir waren 5 Nächte bei Fiona & Thomas und würden die Wohnung sofort wieder buchen.Modern und mit Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet.Aus dem Wohnraum eine tolle Aussicht in die Natur.Die Lage ist perfekt für Ausflüge in die Cairgorn, Aberdeen, Isle of May bis hin nach Elgin. Boghead is owned by Thomas and Fiona Jackson and is also home to their son Ewan, 5 dogs, Glen and Red who are both working sheepdogs , Storm, Rum (known as Bert to his friends) and Jasper the working Cocker Spaniels and Harvey the Ginger Cat.
Thomas is from generations of farmers and runs the Aberdeen Angus beef herd (our local breed which originated in Alford)and a flock of Vendeen sheep on the farm and Fiona works for the NHS in the Jubilee Hospital in Huntly. Ewan works at Linnorie Firewood in Huntly and helps out on the farm when needed.
We moved up from Gloucestershire in September 2012 and spent the first four years removing the old farm buildings that had been errected in the 1950s and putting up some modern farm buildings before restoring the old steading and converting "The Stables" into your holiday accomodation.
We have spent quite a lot of time and effort to improve the farm so it is both efficient to run but also a haven for wildlife having improved the woodland area we took over, planted more small areas of woodland and some new hedges. We also grow .4ha of a bird feed crop each year to feed the small bird population that lives on the farm as well as providing habitat for House Sparrows in the farm building and host Swallows and House Martins in both the old and new buildings.
Our impact on the environment is very important to us and we have a strong green policy and a Gold Environmental award to prove it.

The Donside area in Scotland is not recognised in the same way as Deeside and is largely off the radar as far as tourists are concerned but is in many ways better situated than Deeside which gets all the publicity although Deeside is less than 20 miles away through wonderfull mountain sceanery. We are on the Aberdeenshire Castle trail, just off the Whisky trail, 30 miles from Aberdeen city, 30 miles from the Moray coast in stunning unspoilt sceanery.
