Perfect house for a family holiday.

We booked the house, for the amount of rooms to accommodate, 4 couples and 3 kids, The house worked perfectly for everyone. All loving the appeal of the location and house. I think we would have struggled finding a better property in the area, which is so idyllic and peaceful.

Wonderful villa for a large family

A wonderful, well-equipped villa with lots of space for a large family. The pool and grounds are perfect for the children and adults alike. Odette and Alain are warm and kind hosts and we could not have had a better holiday. Many thanks!

A really great place for a family holiday.

We loved our stay! The house is perfect, spacious and comfortable. The pool is magnificent, large, warm, always kept beautifully clean and we swam all the time! We were mixed ages from 67 down to 1 with 5 children under 6 and everyone had a glorious holiday. The outside eating space is lovely for every meal- we didn’t use the table inside at all as it was so hot but it is a great size if you did need it. Mme Mountier was very kind and helpful. Thank you!

Delightful stay in Perigord

The property is a perfect place for an extended family group to stay, with plenty of space for our group of six adults and four children. There is an additional outdoor kitchen to take the pressure off the the space of the kitchen indoors, and large tables for the whole family to sit down, both indoors and outdoors. The best feature of the property is the outdoor space. The pool is superb, and there is lots of ground to set up and play outdoor games such as croquet and badminton. Monsieur and Madame Moutier were always on hand, and reacted quickly on the occasion when something was broken and needed to be replaced.

A relaxed and enjoyable stay for all ages.

This is a place to stay if you want family comforts without the worry of children being bored and in child friendly and a parent friendly setting. The pool is huge and much of it shallow enough for a six year old to stand in and is maintained daily. There is a field for games and outdoor play with swings and table tennis. The kitchen is small but we had no difficulty in cooking for 10 and there are two huge dining tables one indoor and one outdoor. The lounging furniture is robust and thereby child friendly. Most of the upstairs bedrooms and hall are air-conditioned. The stairs are okay for four year olds and upwards but would present some difficulty for people with mobility problems. The owner lives next door and was very attentive to any concern of which there were few. Be mindful that although you are only 45 minutes from Bergerac airport you are deep in the countryside and popping out to the shop is not an option but there are several good supermarkets within half an hour's drive. And if you want to eat gourmet food Madame Moutier's restaurant is next door!

Good but disappointing WiFi & privacy

Pro: Pool very clean, good size, well maintained and plenty of space for games, eg football. House cool despite aircon upstairs only, due to thick stone walls. Good size tables and plenty of crockery & cutlery. 2 large fridge freezers. Outside table well lit but dining room poorly lit, nearly half the chandelier bulbs not working. Con: Beds not made and insufficient linen for the number of guests/bed configuration needed. Wi-Fi only 1Mbps at best, almost unusable. Uneven paths, guest suffered an ankle injury. Uneven, dirty patio with dangerous hole in sharp broken tile, which we filled with soil. Outside oven not secured properly, when door pulled open oven came out of housing. Washing machine would not work due to insufficient water pressure. We had to use an ancient machine in an outhouse in the adjacent gite. Shared children’s swing/slide in play area was unsafe, whole structure moved. TV only French terrestrial channels, no satellite or internet connection. In any case, the WiFi was far too slow to support streaming. At the end of our 2nd week, newly arrived guests started to use the garden of our gite as a ‘short cut’ to access theirs, saying the owner had given them permission, but the owner hadn’t spoken to us. We had young children in the pool/playing area and did not appreciate strangers wandering through. The other guests were very aggressive & insisted they had the right to wander through our area. If you are looking for privacy do not book this property.

LE FOUR ( Monestier)

Tout d'abord, merci à madame et monsieur Moutier. Nos gentils et incomparables loueurs de notre séjour à Thénac. Tant dans leur accueil, leur disponibilité, leur gentillesse ,leur confiance et leurs sourires ! Notre famille dont les âges s'étalaient de 1 à 65 ans( 13 au total), s'est parfaitement attribuée les lieux . Piscine complètement clôturée et aspirée tous les matins.Deux espaces extérieurs différents pour les repas , une grande salle intérieur au RDC, une cuisine fonctionnelle avec énormément d'ustensiles, 2 réfrigérateurs,la clim aux étages ( car 2 accès ) , 3 WC individuels, Un parking voitures, juste devant très pratique pour débarquer les bagages. Le barbecue, quoique rustique à la première vue ,nous à donné un rendement avec peu de charbon de bois très très satisfaisant ( tous les jours). Si vous voulez passer un moment de farniente avec une grande famille, c'est une maison pour vous avec ses murs épais hors norme qui gardent la fraicheur. Proche,Bergerac pour les courses. . Et si vous voulez déjeuner ou diner à pieds à une table d'exception,( rapport qualité/prix assez incroyable), alors demandez à Madame et Monsieur Moutier de vous l'indiquer ( prenez RDV dès votre arrivée car les réservations sont plus que restreintes du fait de sa popularité dans la région !) Nous reviendrons , en espérant que nos enfants vont se calmer sur les naissances ... Christian et Catherine D

Le Four, Monestier

Deceptively large, the property had more than enough room for our enlarged family of 13. Our grandchildren had fun making dens to hide away in their bedrooms without annoying the adults! The bedrooms were spacious, some with showers and were close to toilet facilities. There was ample seating for dining inside and out. A BBQ alongside a cooker outside enabled us to eat out on the covered terrace even on the odd occasion when it rained! The pool was large enough that everyone was able to cool off without being in each other’s way. Even though there were other gites close by, the property still felt secluded. It was located in an area that we had visited before so it was easy to find our way around and to visit places that we did not have a chance to explore earlier. The hosts were unobtrusive but very helpful on the occasions that we needed assistance - even the language barrier proved to be of little hindrance to any communication between us.

Très bon séjour

Endroit parfait pour une cousinade d'été / Perfect spot for a multi-generational family holiday!

A very comfortable house, optimally designed for a multi-generational, summer family holiday; convenient and handsome location, with lots to do within short, picturesque drives, and a large pool for cooling off and lounging all afternoon! Responsive hosts who also run a family restaurant next door serving Périgord cuisine! La maison est idéale pour des cousinades d'été autour de grandes tablées et d'une grande piscine. Bonne situation géographique, commerces et activités à 15-20 minutes en voiture par des petites routes pittoresques. Excellente communication avec les hôtes à tout moment. Je recommande aussi leur restaurant traditionnel juste à côté!

Excellent séjour dans cette jolie maison avec piscine

Nous avons tous passés un excellent séjour dans cette très belle maison en pierre. Nous avons profité tous les jours de la piscine parfaite pour 14! Nous avons apprécié nos journées et soirées sur la terrasse avec pergola mais aussi le frais de la maison avec les grosses chaleurs entre le bas de la maison frais naturellement et l étage (avec les chambres) climatisé ! Un grand merci à M et Mme Moutier pour leur accueil, leur réactivité quand il y a eu besoin et leurs conseils avisés pour les visites à faire, marchés... Nous en garderons petits et grands un excellent souvenir !

Week-End en famille reposant

Nous avons passé un agréable week end en famille dans cette jolie maison. L'hôte est tès arrangeante et à l'écoute. Nous n'hésiterons pas à revenir pour un autre séjour dans la région !

Parfait séjour au calme

Maison typique avec de beaux espaces intérieurs et extérieurs. Cuisine d été très agréables. Les propriétaires ont été très disponibles pour répondre à nos demandes. Merci à Odette et sa famille pour son accueil.
