Cascade Cottage, das seinen Namen von der Kaskade, die auf dem Hügel über dem Häuschen vom See läuft; Edgcott Wasser füllt den See gelangt dann unter einem Holzsteg direkt vor der Haustür. Das Ferienhaus bietet Platz für bis zu 6 Personen in drei Schlafzimmern und liegt verkehrsgünstig etwa 800 m vom Zentrum von Exford entfernt im Herzen des Exmoor-Nationalparks.

Die Haustür öffnet sich in die geräumige Küche mit großem Esstisch; Das Wohnzimmer verfügt über zwei Ledersofas, zwei Sesseln und einem Holzofen. Es gibt auch einen Hauswirtschaftsraum und WC im Erdgeschoss an der Rückseite des Anwesens. Im Obergeschoss befinden sich zwei Schlafzimmer (ein Kingsize-Bett, ein Doppelzimmer), beide mit en-suite Badezimmer Dusche umfasste über der Badewanne, Toilette und Waschbecken. Das dritte Schlafzimmer ist ein Zwilling, der über eine der Doppel-Schlafzimmer zugegriffen wird.

Very welcoming food pack with cake, milk, eggs, butter, bread, and jams all there. Apart from a milk top up we didn't need a thing for everyday drinks and snacks. Good facilities for dogs and their owners. Central Exmoor location makes planning trips easy with good B road access if you don't relish twisty high hedge lanes. The village has two good pub/hotels within a 10 minute walk although the Post office/General Stores is currently closed, hopefully only temporarily (June 2019).

We have just come back from a stay in Cascade Cottage. We cannot rate Cascade Cottage highly enough. It was spotlessly clean and the welcome pack of home made cake, bread, butter, jam, eggs etc was a wonderful gesture. Even the little extras of a lovely handwash in each bathroom and washing up liquid etc all supplied. There were also dog towels available too. Penny and Simon are excellent hosts and have thought of just about everything. Would highly recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay at Cascade Cottage. On arrival the cottage was beautifully clean and very well presented, with the added bonus of a delicious cake, homemade jams the most gorgeous butter, milk and eggs... all really most appreciated. The cottage is very homely, and if you are looking for somewhere to simply relax that is quite but very accessible to the village (1/2 mile walk) then we would recommend. The village has a really good local shop, with local produce and there are two very good pubs - but book in advance for the evening meal! We used the cottage as a base for days out which for a week was perfect. The kitchen is the centre of the cottage and worked well for us as we all tended to sit in the kitchen rather than the lounge which we hardly used. In cooler months however we could see how the lounge with the log fire would be great. We had a small dog and the cottage worked well as there is small gravelled area in the front of the cottage and a little bridge (gated) over the stream to the lawn / patio area. We would stay again at Cascade Cottage.

Milk, coffee and tea were also left for visitors to use. The front of the cottage is outstanding with a stream running and a small bridge to take you to a patio area to enjoy. The cottage is well equipped but the sitting room is a little dark but nice. The upstairs is basic but quite spacious and the two main rooms also have tv’s and en-suite bathrooms. I would recommend this cottage to family and friends.

Love the cottage, great welcome of cake, fresh bread, eggs etc. Works so well for just the two of us and equally as well when some of the family come too. Ideally situated, plenty of parking and pretty much everything you need in this cosy cottage. Only suggestion would be as we had a toddler with us this time too, a fire guard would be helpful.

Exford is a charming village at the very heart of Exmoor National Park, set in a beautiful valley where the River Exe begins its long journey south to the sea.



The village is centred around a traditional green, with stone cottages, ancient bridges over the river, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Exford has long been a popular base for walkers, riders, and anglers, and it remains one of the finest starting points for exploring Exmoor's open moorland, wooded valleys, and dramatic coastline.



Village Amenities



Exford has a well-stocked community shop and post office selling groceries, newspapers, and everyday essentials. There are two pubs serving food and drink, and a tea room offering homemade cakes and cream teas. The village also has a primary school, a children's play area on the green, and a car park.



Nearby Shopping



The nearest mini-supermarket and petrol station is in Wheddon Cross, approximately 5 miles away. Dulverton, around 8 miles south, is a handsome small town on the southern edge of the National Park with a good range of independent shops, a butcher, a chemist, and the Exmoor National Park Visitor Centre.



For larger supermarkets, Minehead is approximately 12 miles away and has Tesco, Morrisons, and Lidl, as well as most high street banks and other shops. Taunton, Tiverton, and Barnstaple are all within about 25 miles and offer full town-centre shopping.
