Relaxing Oasis in the City

This little house was so beautiful and charming, with loads of personality and a strong sense of place here in New Mexico. We found the house to be so comfortable and cheerful - even a rainy day was bright due to the skylights and many windows. The house had everything we needed, including a well-equipped kitchen, a work desk, and full-sized laundry. Everything was very clean, the water pressure was excellent in the shower, and the beds were very comfortable. The piece de resistance of the house is the garden. Boy oh boy, we spent a lot of our time just sitting in the chairs on the back patio, sipping iced beverages, and watching the bees dancing from flower to flower. At night the garden turns mysterious and alluring, and is the perfect way to ease down, relax, and cap off a day of hiking or museum hopping. The neighborhood is great and there is a wonderful cafe (Flying Star) a short walk away with a fantastic bookstore (Bookworks) right next door. The house was very convenient to I-40 and the airport and a short jaunt to Old Town. We would definitely come and stay here again in this beautiful slice of New Mexico.

I am a homegrown New Mexican who now lives in NY. I was traveling back to ABQ for spring break and wanted a great house that “felt like home”. This historic adobe home was so comfortable, close to Old Town and great restaurants. Biked a trail nearby with access not far from the house.The host was helpful on arrival showing us the home and providing information on the activities we were interested in.The outdoor patio was nice to come back to at the end of our days exploring. Michael is the perfect host. Responsive, informative, enjoyable. What an awesome place Casa La Huerta is !. The weather was super windy and colder than we had hoped, so we didn't get to sit outside as much as we had hoped, but it just made us appreciate it even more when we got perfect weather the day before we had to leave. Inside, everything was perfect, very clean, great towels and sheets, even provided plush blankets, and everything you could wish for in the kitchen. We will be back as often as we can to see the awesome landscaping in the Spring and early summer. The photos are great, but they don't even come close to showing how delightful everything is at The Orchard House. (yes, they have an Orchard that was in full bloom).

This historic adobe home exceeded our expectations in every way, making it the perfect spot for our family of four to unwind and explore the beauty of New Mexico. The house itself is spacious, thoughtfully designed, and equipped with all the modern conveniences you could ask for. From a well-stocked kitchen with all the necessary utensils to a reliable washer and dryer and fast internet, everything was available to make our stay comfortable. The historic charm of the adobe walls blended seamlessly with the cozy interiors, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The highlight of the property is the small orchard surrounding the home, bearing a variety of fruits like peach, apricot, and others local to New Mexico. Walking through the orchard each morning was a serene experience, and it added a unique charm to our stay. Michael, the owner, truly made this trip special. He personally greeted us upon arrival, gave us a thorough tour of the property, and shared invaluable local knowledge. Very special place

This is not your average VRBO. It is immaculate, stylish, spacious and comfortable! The property is large with a fantastic courtyard. Peaceful Oasis

We loved the outside patio area so much, the detailed landscape was so beautiful. The house was close to town but had a private feel to it. The bed was a little firmer than we like but it was still comfortable. We didn’t really cook, but it looked well equipped if people wanted to. We spent most of our time outside.

Balloon fiesta weekend

My husband, 6 yo daughter and I enjoyed our stay during a long weekend in Albuquerque for the balloon fiesta. The house had everything we needed and more, very clean and in a nice quite neighborhood. We loved being 20-30 minutes away from the fiesta and 15 minutes from downtown/the zoo/breweries/the petroglyph national park. I even got to watch a few hot air balloons from the back porch while enjoying my coffee on the last day. We would stay again if we come back!

Charming rural location and a hikers delight!

We couldn't believe our good fortune! We found we could hike in a preserve, a state park, and on rural trails right from this beautiful home. We also took walks to a nearby neighborhood hub with a cafe, book and other quality stores, and to dinner at an iconic New Mexican restaurant. All that and it's still only 15 minutes from Old Town. We will be back!

ABOVE AND BEYOND!!!

The title should speak volumes....this property and casa exceeded all expectations! From the moment you drive in to the little orchard (la huerta) and enter the gate into the yard, you have stepped into a perfect, quiet oasis that feels so far away from the hustle and bustle of ABQ!! The grounds are very well maintained and absolutely beautiful and serene!!! As soon as you walk into the casa you instantly feel at home and comfortable. It was IMMACULATE!!! So tastefully, yet simply, decorated with New Mexico sprinkled through and through! The kitchen had everything we needed to cook dinner every night! Michael is a wonderful host/manager....kind, thoughtful, generous with his time, and "just right down the way" if need be. This is absolutely one of the best properties, out of dozens, that we have every stayed at and we can not wait until we return again next year! We are so appreciative that this wonderful little piece of NM is shared with the rest of us!!!

At its heart is Old Town, just minutes from Casa La Huerta, the site where the original city was founded in 1706. Cobblestone streets and adobe walls characterize this neighborhood where Native American and Spanish cultures still mingle. You'll also find a certain level of kitsch, deposited from the hey-day of US Route 66 that runs through the heart of town. The downtown area's décor consists of neon signs and funky souvenir shops. Head farther out and you'll find expansive homes and lush vineyards in the North Valley, where Casa La Huerta is located, and Cottonwood Heights.

Albuquerque stays true to its roots. Hispanic flavors can be found in many of the city's restaurants (prepare for the ear-popping heat of New Mexico's favorite ingredient, the chile pepper). Native American arts and crafts adorn many a gallery window. But despite its old age—the city celebrated its 300th birthday in 2006—Albuquerque is nothing short of cosmopolitan, boasting funky boutiques, top-notch performance venues and exciting nightlife. To top it all off, the city's proximity to the stunning Sandia Mountains makes it a great home base for Southwest discovery.

Casa La Huerta was originally constructed in the late 1890's and was enlarged to its current configuration in the 1930's. It is therefore not configured like a modern home or hotel. It has abundant character and charm reflective of New Mexico, and is very much a historic showcase of what a modest family home in New Mexico was like in the late 1800's. This is what our guests rave about and enjoy, and what makes Casa La Huerta a special place and a very successful vacation rental. We take pride in delivering a clean, sanitary, safe, functional, well maintained and comfortable vacation residence that represents an unbeatable value for money.
