Great place in the middle of nowhere
We had a wunderful stay in Montefegatesi. It‘s a small village in the the mountains about 50 Minutes away from Lucca. You have a little store for food there, a tiny bar and and a lot of lovely neighbours. The flat it pretty cute, clean, with a nice Balkony and a beautyfull view over the mountains. Violetta is a friendly and careing Person, everything went great. We can recommand the place to every traveller, who wants a quiet stay in the nature.

Thank you for your review. It was a pleasure to have you in my apartment in Montefegatesi and I am glad you had a nice relaxing week there.
Too bad I didn't get there in time to say goodbye when you left... The house is there if you decide to come another time!
Most peaceful and beautiful place! Truly one of a kind!
Thank you!! I'm happy you had a nice relaxing stay . Remember the house is here if you would like to come and "recharge the batteries" once again in Montefegatesi.
You'll never want to go home!
This was the first time we'd been to Tuscany and I must say this property and location made the experience so much more pure. Although the interior is vintage (as in almost outdated), it fits the scenery and location.
We were unaware of scorpions living in the area so we had a little scare finding one in the bathtub and our 6yo telling us he had touched it (looks just like a big bug, right?), which is when we sure missed a wifi connection (mobile internet with no or little connection in the village) as to be able to Google if it's as dangerous as the scorpions we'd heard about on other continents. I know the true travel feeling is felt with being offline, but in a location like this you'd sure miss being without a proper connection (for Google mapping the best roads to take to see places or even googling opening hours before going downhill - which took quit some time so you'd only want to do thay once a day max - and find some place closed).
A little enhancer property wise , but a big difference in comfort, to me, would be a toilet seat that wouldn't move :-)
The property has all you'd need, a full equipped kitchen, just don't use the oven, it will cause a power outrage, but we've baked perfect pizza in a pan :-)
The house is pretty cool and the air can floath through easily, which is nice on hot days.
We we travelling with 3 kids aged 6, 5 and 2.5 and we were uncertain if this location would be suitable but it turned out to be exactly what we look for in a vacation. Such a quiet village, car free in summer, the property is located close to the market place where you'll find a little shop and the best natural water you'll ever drink. We could send the kids to fill water bottles by themselves. The true holiday freedom you'll be looking for.
Walk up to the Dante monument close before sundown and you'll have stunning views (at day time too, just the colours at sundown are amazing).
Recommend Orrido di Bottri, small kids are not allowed, so I went with the 6yo and he almost did the entire track. Close to the end it got too difficult. A stunning track nonetheless!!
Kids also walked up Prato Fiorito, recommend that too!
We also went swimming in Bagni di Luca, visited Pisa and ViaReggio beach.
All in all a fantastic family holiday to remember for a long time!
Property owner Violetta was very kind and left a welcome present. Too bad we didn't get to chat again during our stay!
Dear Nancy, thank you for your detailed review.
I'm glad to have had you as my guests in Montefegatesi, letting you and your kids experience a different kind of holiday in Tuscany in a small mountain village deeped in the green and in countryside life. As it is a bit far from the main centres, it has preserved an authenticity and a vintage feeling that you cannot experience in most other crowded and turistic destinations in the region. I'm glad that you caught this charm and you enjoied your stay.
I'm sorry about the drawback of the scorpion but even if we try to keep everything very tidy we are in the middle of the countryiside and it happens to have insects sometimes, but they are not harmful.
As you say in your review being without wi-fi connection can be part of the experience, for any need there is a public wifi place at the local cafè in the main square near the house. However as we understand this could be a useful service for our guests we will try to find a way to have it for the future.
Thank you for your advices, I really appreciated them. I'm also sorry I could not get to see you again during your stay, hope you decide to come back sometimes in the future!!
One of the best places I've ever stayed. The medieval town of Montefegatesi is something straight out of a movie. The town plaza has a little market and a lively restaurant, and the natural spring has some of the best water ever. There are allot of hiking trails around the village and some amazing picnic spots in a very old chestnut orchard within walking distance of the village. The house has amazing views from every window and stays nice and cool on the hot summer days. The house has all the amenities you'll need and an overall vintage feel on the inside with a medieval feel on the outside. So if you looking for a unique experience in a beautiful mountain top village, this is it. I definitely plan on coming back in the future.
