Umgebaute Scheune in wunderschöner Lage, südliches Devon

Iris is a converted barn located in beautiful grounds in the secluded hamlet of Stancombe. It comprises high quality self-catering accommodation with all the modern utilities including wifi, washing machine, dish washer, microwave, electric hob and oven and well equipped kitchen. There are TV's in the living room (with inbuilt DVD) and each of the downstairs bedrooms.

Stancombe includes superb leisure facilities including a heated indoor swimming pool (6m x 13m), outdoor tennis court, snooker room with full sized table, games room with table tennis, pool table, table football, an outdoor children’s play area and golf pitch and putt. There is a barbecue area at the front of the cottage. Stancombe is set in beautiful grounds offering a delightful holiday in all seasons.

Iris is a “topsy turvy” cottage comprising 3 bedrooms — 1 double ensuite on the ground floor and two twins with a shared bath/shower room on the lower ground floor. Living accommodation includes open plan lounge / diner / kitchen on the ground floor.

There is a private courtyard at the back of the property with table and chairs whilst the front, also equipped with table and chairs, offers a wonderful view of South Devon countryside overlooking the golf, children's play area and tennis court.

A selection of lovely beaches are within a short distance of Stancombe, as well as interesting towns like Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Dartmouth. Plymouth with it's aquarium and maritime history is also worth a visit as is the dramatic and beautiful Dartmoor National Park. There are some fabulous eateries in Dartmouth along with the Dart Valley steam Railway which runs from Dartmouth to Paignton..

There are numerous outdoor activities available in the area including surfing, sailing, canoeing, swimming, indoor sports hall in Kingsbridge, pony trekking, fishing, hiking, clay pigeon and air rifle shooting, cycling, Golf etc

We want you to enjoy your stay. We have a friendly site manager who is available on site to assist you with any issues, and offer advice on the local area.

No complaints about accommodation at all. It was exactly as described and perfect for 4 adults and 2 4 year olds as a base for exploration.More rural than expected and the very narrow roads are an experience! Fortunately we found the roads to and from the cottage and Kingsbridge to be quiet. Different matter to some other locations and the best beaches in particular. Prepare to be patient. A great stay over the August bank holiday week with perfect weather, fab beaches and place to eat.

Great on site facilities apart from the wi fi being slow. Horrendous country lanes to get to the property, and we live in the countryside. Very clean and well equipped property, though a large freezer would have helped with catering for 6 people.

Hi Dawn, we are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and in particular the facilities provided on site and the cottage itself. The lanes are narrow in the South Hams, for sure. We think it is all part of the experience along with the peace and quiet that comes with it being well away from large busy roads. The freezer is not large and does require some "management". Space is the issue for us, but we are thinking about what we could do going forwards. Thank you for staying with us.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Iris Cottage with its beautiful terrace surrounded by pretty flowers leading to the field beyond. Lovely walks straight from the door. The cottage itself is comfortable and well equipped. Both showers are hot and powerful, beds are comfortable.We made use of all the sites amenities especially the swimming pool, tennis court and snooker room. Dartmouth is within easy reach, we particularly enjoyed trip on steam train.We would definitely stay again.

Great location and facilities

Location of property within the grounds was amazing...looked out onto lush green, pitch and putt and tennis court. Little courtyard with seating was perfect for our toddler. Loved the pool and playroom too, and property worked fine with three bedrooms and two bathrooms

Beautiful place, great facilities

Such a beautiful part of Devon with stunning scenery and beaches. We had a really lovely family holiday at the property. The property is basic but comfortable and the grounds and facilities were perfect for our family and small dog. Lots to do in what felt a really safe environment for children. The caretaker was so helpful and friendly too.

Stunning and peaceful

Iris cottage had all that we could possibly wish for and the setting at Stancombe Manor was perfect for our family. Our three boys loved the games room and swimming pool. There’s so much to do in the South Hams, making it an ideal location.

Stunning location

Beautiful little cottage in stunning surroundings. Amenities were fantastic - especially great for families. Most things were just a 10-20 minute drive away. Lots of beaches to choose from. Great communication with the owner, easy check in. Would definitely stay again.

Great place to stay.

We had a wonderful 4 days at Iris Cottage. Set in beautiful countryside, the accommodation was lovely and the facilities on site were perfect for our group. Swings and play room for youngest to tennis, snooker and golf for older ones. The swimming pool was used by all of us. Would definitely recommend for all ages. Quiet surroundings and great facilities

Our second stay at Iris Cottage. Even though the weather wasn’t great there is always plenty to keep you entertained. We played tennis, golf, table tennis, pool and went swimming in the indoor pool. Easy check in, clean and tidy cottage which is fully equipped.

Lovely "Barn" and Location

Great place for the family, our 5-yr old loved the stairs and having his own bathroom! Nicely equipped kitchen, and room for the grandparents to visit. We even cooked, which we don't usually do on vacation! Enjoyed the games rooms and pool too. Only thing missing was a wood burning stove! Loved it, will definitely recommend it

We started out as a family of four who enjoyed many happy holidays in the area. We are now two retirees with a grandchild. We currently live and work in Bedfordshire but plan to spend as much time as we can at Iris cottage. We hope others can enjoy the area as much as we have over the last 50 plus years.

We bought Iris to give us a home within the area that we have known and loved for over 50 years. The beauty of the South Hams is plain to all who visit, with it's rolling hills and fabulous coastline. Great for walks and for those who enjoy water sports and a range of other activities. The property benefits from a range of on site facilities set in beautiful grounds which cater for all weathers.

Stancombe is a wonderfully secluded, peaceful and calming place- but with lots of amenities and close to lots of wonderful countryside, beaches and eateries. Whatever the weather there are things to do at and around Stancombe.
