I enjoyed this home and spot on the lake immensely! Love the nostalgia of the old camp and the cove provided some protection along with a really nice dock and crystal clear water to the bottom of the lake. I absolutely loved the screened in porch that offered a full view of the lake all around and close enough to feel like you could just fall in! I would buy this one if it were available! Plenty of room here to spread out and be comfy.

Now that’s a lake summer house!

The house was rustic and had plenty of space for 6 adults to find privacy. The porch and dock were the best to enjoy the scenery. We absolutely loved our stay!

Well appointed 1950’s style classic lake Winni summer cottage. Great deep swimming out back. Enough room for a 22 ft boat. Rooms are small but there is a fan in every room and a glorious breeze at the southern end of the lake.

We timed the weather well and had a fantastic stay at this little rustic cabin. The lake access and view from the back porch are just awesome...we're missing that view every day. If you want modern amenities, namely A/C, this is not the cabin for you. The central location between Alton Bay, Laconia, and Gilford is great with many good food options. The zip line adventure at Gunstock, which is only about 10 minutes away from this cabin, was breathtaking. Overall, we really enjoyed are stay here, and highly recommend it for the right renter.

Perfect quiet getaway

Everything was perfect at this property, the neighbors were all so nice and kind, the views were outstanding, water was perfect and clear! We would absolutely stay here again! Only thing we wish there was would be an outside fire pit, staple to the home on the water.

The cottage was rustic as advertised,but once we got there it was a little more rustic than the pictures . Unfortunately getting in touch with anyone was near impossible. The weather was hot and humid, the fans didn’t help , the kitchen has skylights that made the place an oven. Signage everywhere on things we should have been made aware of before the stay. We have rented many times on the lake prior to this, with no complaints. I had to rent our guests from Ohio, an hotel room because they claimed they could smell sewage. I was out with my grandsons, finally got in touch with someone. AFTER we left he told me ( text) that the sewage system was new and some smell was probably from that. Had we known we would have stayed, instead of packing in a hurry, in the unbearable heat. So we only slept there one night!! And spent an extra 450.00 for our guests to sleep in a hotel. This was a nightmare.

Great spot, great doc, great everything. It was a little small. but still nice. The only thing that it lacked was a couple of AC units because it gets very hot if it is a hot humid day especially upstairs in the loft.

Overall our stay went well!The views and water access were incredible! Prime location with a short drive to the center along with Wolfeboro and Laconia! Quiet street and the neighbors were very friendly.The house itself is where the listing falls short. Upon first arrival the house was clean with fresh towels and linens. After a little bit you start to notice lots of cobwebs on light fixtures and in bathroom, old birds nests on the porch, dirty furniture, dust caked fans etc. The house has absolutely no insulation and no air conditioning so on a hot day the house turns into an oven reaching 90 inside temp on one day. Fortunately they do provide you with a good amount of small fans but those weren’t even enough. We brought three of our own and it was still rough.Definitely not a place for young children as the back of the house is literally sitting on a giant rock. A good section of the back stairs railings to deck was lifting with nails sticking out. One whole section of railing missing that enables access to the edge of the giant rock into the water so be careful if you have young children or pets.The back porch, dock, and view 10/10The house 4/10

Just about any location on Lake Winnipesaukee is wonderful in magical, and we certainly prefer your authentic, uninsulated, wood frame lakefront cabins and cottages. This property tucked in Smith Cove near West Alton fits that description.We had some issues that were relatively minor, including overly bright non-dimmable LED lightbulbs with no shades, fortunately Vacasa was quick and professional in responding. At the dining table, there are no real dining room chairs, just a couple of easy chairs that are not suited for dining purposes. Also, the walls in the bedroom were covered with framed family photos, which was offputting. We removed them for the duration of our weeklong stay, safely tucked on the floor in the living room. The view from the front sun porch and dock is spectacular, this alone made it worthwhile. We use the barbecue for a few meals, that was definitely handy. It’s a nice walk around the area on the dirt road, always fun to see what neighbors are doing to their properties, it was a mix of old style and brand new giant houses, which I think Are too much but that’s a whole separate conversation. We would consider returning, the one big factor being orientation: from the Tuftonboro side of the lake the sunset views are spectacular, in Smith Cove the sun pretty much disappears by 2 PM this time of year, being early to mid September. Overall, a good value.

Great Place! Vacasa terrible rental company

we loved this place very much, and we can tell by the logbooks that I've been there for years that many people have enjoyed this house, aside from what I am about to say next about the rental company this place is awesome and beautiful water great fishing, and we absolutely just loved the classic New Hampshire cottage, that we we always have strive to rent for. 100% would recommend staying here. But.......it appears as though it is being rented through a new company called Vacasa. this company is not local to the Lakes region. we got there and had no idea if we are allowed to park at the top of the driveway or in the driveway and quickly realized that it was a bad idea to try to even park in the driveway. DO NOT ATTEMPT DRIVEWAY! There was no house rules if you will. unfortunately, there was a lot of garbage left from the people before us in the trash cans at the top of the driveway so we had to put in an inquiry to the company which took over a day to finally send somebody local out get rid of some of the trash and by then we had already generated trash ourselves and unfortunately, for the next person they were probably left with a whole bunch of trash as well. so all in all I totally recommend the property and you'll love it once you're there but it's really too bad that this company called Vacasa who is managing the rentals.
