We’re glad you enjoyed the property and lake views, but several statements in this review need clarification. During your late September stay, seasonal water levels were lower throughout the entire bay, making aquatic vegetation more noticeable near shore. This is a seasonal condition affecting the bay as a whole. Kayaking is still possible, and guests can paddle out to deeper, clearer water. We disagree with the characterization of the house as poorly maintained and the kitchenware is there for convenience, as most do not travel with cookware while not high end we have never had complaints as it is a lakeside cabin. Our home is cared for, and normal weathering and paint wear from daily use the entire season on outdoor wood does not mean the property has been neglected. Condiments and pantry items are conveniences guests may choose to use or not use and we have had a lot of positive feedback about spices and other basics available from other guests. Their presence does not make the home unclean or “transient.” We respect that opinions about value differ, but this stay was actually at a reduced rate and even at full price we have never had any complaints about value as you have access to the entire private house, yard, lake and amenities.
