The Lake
NOTE: Lake Granby has Seasonal Lake Levels
Lake Granby is a natural mountain reservoir whose water levels are determined each year by Colorado’s winter snowpack and spring runoff.
In lower snow years, the lake can recede from the shoreline, creating a beautiful natural alpine beach in front of the cabin. When this happens, guests often enjoy miles of scenic shoreline walking, sunset beach strolls, and extra space for relaxing by the water.
You will still have direct access to the lake from the property, and we provide kayaks and paddle boards for guest use. Depending on lake levels during your stay, you may simply walk them a short distance across the natural beach to launch.
The lake itself remains fully open for recreation, including boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, and fishing.
One of the unique aspects of Lake Granby is that the shoreline changes from year to year, giving each season its own character—from higher water levels in strong snow years to wide pebbly sand beaches perfect for exploring in lighter snow years.
Either way, you’re still right on the lake and surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in Grand County.
