Masseria Schiuma by Boutique | Puglia Coastal Gem
Summary:
This art-filled masseria on the Apulian coast, just south of Monopoli, is an elegant blend of local craftsmanship and Danish design. It features six en-suite bedrooms accommodating up to 15 guests, a generous swimming pool, and a dining space for 24 guests. It also offers farm-to-table dinners, pizza nights, and curated culinary experiences.
The Space:
Masseria Schiuma is a traditional stone farmhouse beautifully restored with a mix of contemporary and antique design. Vaulted ceilings, exquisite Vetri tiles, mid-century and antique furnishings, and handpicked art from around the world define its aesthetic. The house includes six en-suite double bedrooms, two of which have additional single beds, allowing for comfortable accommodation for larger groups. A vine-covered outdoor terrace provides a stunning dining space for up to 24 guests, while the outdoor kitchen, complete with a pizza oven, makes alfresco cooking and entertaining a delight. The expansive swimming pool area, surrounded by 12 sunbeds, is perfect for unwinding. Inside, art and design pieces, including works by Matt Kleberg, vintage Murano lighting, and a standalone bathtub rumored to have been used by Sophia Loren, add to the home’s unique character.
Guest Access:
Guests have exclusive access to the entire masseria, including all indoor and outdoor spaces, the pool area, the outdoor kitchen, and the private gardens. Bicycles are available on-site for those looking to explore the surrounding countryside.
The Neighborhood:
Located just 700 meters from the beach, the masseria is surrounded by some of Puglia’s most charming coastal towns. Monopoli, Fasano, Polignano a Mare, Ostuni, Alberobello, Locorotondo, and Martina Franca are all within a short drive. Sundays are perfect for visiting local antique markets, while the town of Grottaglie is a must for its renowned ceramic studios and contemporary art scene.
Getting Around:
A car rental is recommended for exploring the region, with Bari Airport just a 40-minute drive away. The nearest beach, Lido Le Macchie and Lido Marina Grande, is within walking distance at 700 meters. Cycling is also a great way to explore, with bikes available on-site.
Other Things to Note:
Bookings require a minimum stay of seven nights. The masseria offers a range of gastronomic experiences upon request, including special celebration dinners. For those looking for active pursuits, there are golf courses nearby, as well as scenic cycling routes. The property’s name, Schiuma, meaning “foam,” is inspired by the nearby sea, reflecting its deep connection to the coastal landscape.
