I am not one to rant about a bad instance. Let's face it, things happen. It's the customer service aspect, or lack of, that causes me to write this review.
When we arrived, the unit had no power. I worked for 2-hours with the local security and maintenance teams to get power to the unit but we were not able to. The reason was, either the homeowner failed to pay their bill or they shut the power off during the winter and had not turned it on. Needless to say, the unit had not been cleaned for a while. The fridge stunk because it was closed and there were multiple bugs running around.
I called/texted multiple people from Vacassa and while everyone I spoke with was very nice, they were not helpful. Their resolution was "they would call a local team member, and they would get back with me".... that never happened.
I got no offer to help secure a hotel or other accommodations for the night, I got a "well, you could stay there anyway". So I found a local hotel for $350 per night and we packed out stuff and headed to the hotel.
I messaged no less than 10x to ask about the power situation or if they found another place but no resolution. I did receive the same "we will have a local team member call you"... which again, never happened.
Power was restored the following day around noon and we headed over to the unit and started our vacation a day and a half late.
I spent the next 5 days trying to talk with someone about reimbursement for the hotel and for the loss of time that we paid for. Let me say, I had a fight on my hands. They were quick to refund me the one night + booking fee which covered the costs for the hotel but I was asking for that and the cost of the hotel.
On and on I tried and endured every time this mysterious local person that was going to call me. I finally on FRIDAY, got a call from someone and explained that I was being reasonable and they disagreed. To make this headache go away, I asked if they would refund half of the hotel stay which was agreeable to them so, we settled on that.
Other than being dirty and a bit run-down, the unit was decent so, I really have no major complaints there. My chief complaint is with Vacassa, not the homeowner of 3510. They are not a customer-first or customer-friendly organization. If you can stay somewhere that Vacasa doesn't manage, I encourage you to do that. Otherwise, bring a generator.
