Hi there! We’re so happy to welcome you to Stargazer Cottage, our family’s mountain getaway in Basye, Virginia.

Our family loves hiking, skiing and outdoor adventures, but we also treasure the quiet moments—playing games, curling up with a good book, sharing meals and stargazing from the back deck.

We created Stargazer as a comfortable home away from home where families and friends can relax, reconnect and make memories together.

Stargazer Cottage is located on a quiet street. Bryce Ski Resort is literally in the backyard and a few minute's drive from the cottage. Get in a brisk early morning walk up to the top of the ski slope in 10- 12 minutes from the cottage.

The cottage faces the North mountains and you can get mountain views in the wintertime from the deck, bedroom and kitchen. Our plan is to thin out some of the trees so we can enjoy unobstructed views year-round from the deck.

Although surrounded by friendly neighbors, it is quiet and peaceful. We ask that you be mindful and respectful of the neighbors. On a clear night, you can sit out on the deck with the telescope (provided) and stargaze into the night. Kids and grownups alike will be delighted to see deer, and rabbits, and hear the woodpecker in the backyard.

Lake Laura is located a short 5-minute drive from the house. Spend the entire summer day lounging on the grassy beach while the kids swim and play in tranquil waters. You can also enjoy fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding or just floating with friends. You can hike around the lake, which is an easy 2.5-mile loop.

For the adventurous souls, Bryce Resort which is less than a five-minute drive from the cottage is open to skiing in the winter and mountain biking in the summertime.
