Das Rainbow House verfügt über sehr geräumige Wohnräume ... Elegante, große Schlafzimmer und Wohnbereiche mit atemberaubendem Blick auf den 300 m² großen Infinity-Pool, einen Pavillon und die dramatische Brandung des Atlantiks ... inmitten einer üppigen Landschaft.
Das Badezimmer des riesigen luftigen Hauptschlafzimmers auf der Poolebene wurde kürzlich modernisiert. Sie wollen es nur lassen, um in den Pool zu springen, nur wenige Meter entfernt.

Das Haus ist komplett ausgestattet mit luxuriösen Annehmlichkeiten im Inneren des Hauses, Liegestühlen und Tischen im Freien. Es wurde routinemäßig modernisiert und renoviert und verfügt über eine Klimaanlage mit geteilten Einheiten, Schiebetüren und luxuriöse Armaturen, wo immer Sie hinschauen.

Family trip

We had a magical time staying at Rainbow House! Spectacular views, wonderful location in Palm shaded Stella Maris. Everything we needed for cooking meals and comfortably gathering. The house is so wonderfully airy that we never turned on the a/c! Definitely hope to return.

Peaceful & Perfect

Rainbow House was just perfect for our party of 6 (3 siblings and spouses). The 3 bedrooms were placed so that we all enjoyed our privacy. The kitchen and dining/living quarters were spacious for our communal meals and socializing. We enjoyed the proximity to the Stella Maris Resort for dining and beverage options and their very friendly and helpful staff. Long Island is a peaceful, friendly and beautiful place to explore. Take time to visit the sites/beaches from its top to its bottom!

Long Island's Best

Rainbow Villa is a great place to spend a vacation! All 3 bedrooms are comfortable with beautiful views of the Atlantic. The pool is large, well maintained and fun for the kids. Moonshine bar, nature pool and main dining room are a short walk away. Everyone that works at Stella Maris is helpful and friendly. The house was spotless when we arrived, and they freshened it up multiple times during our stay. Highly recommend for a family vacation!

Spacious home and property in Stella Maris

There was plenty of room for our small party and we truly enjoyed the views and sounds of the ocean and the pool! The house was clean and the property manager was helpful with any questions we had. This was a great location for walking to the Moonshine beach bar/restaurant and a short walk to the main Stella Maris restaurant. It was a quick drive up to the north end beaches and down to Deadman’s Cay. We highly recommend eating at Chez Pierre‘s restaurant as well! Call ahead and enjoy the food of the island!

Fabulous escape

We had the most wonderful Christmas escape at Rainbow Villa. Starting with our charter with Joel and the Stella Maris Air Service from Nassau, our trip was special. Everyone at Stella Maris was wonderful, providing us with everything we needed, from car and taxi service to groceries and meals. The holiday events were a great diversion. The house itself was well stocked and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The pool was clean and the loungers were comfortable. The three ensuite bedrooms were private, and the common space was great for hanging out - indoors and outdoors. An absolutely perfect getaway!

Wonderful stay for first visit

We had a wonderful stay at the Rainbow House in Stella Maris. The house is beautifully decorated with a wonderful view and plenty of space to spread out. Unfortunately, we didnt get much use out of the gigantic pool because it was pretty windy all week. The beds and bedding were comfortable and there were plenty of towels provided, both bath and beach. The downstairs suite was huge and relaxing. We always travel with our own card games, but thr boys loved playing Sorry and UNO from the house selection too. The Stella Maris complex was wonderful... breakfast and dinner at the restaurant were great, drinks at the Moonshine bar were delicious and all of the staff members were so friendly. Jill the property (and Stella Maris) manager, was great- so friendly.

Poorly maintained property!

Property was in need of major updates and improvements. In addition, we were not made aware that after each evening's rains, the property became hugely infested with small crabs (hundreds of them each night). Pool needed work, overall quality of the property was poor.

There are times when it is better to refuse a potential guest at the outset! This was one of those. This pair simply weren't suitable for 'island living'. The wildlife is very much part of the environment and a sensible approach to dealing with it after rain storms etc, is needed. As for the comment on 'updating'. If you consider a new master bathroom and kitchen have been installed in last three years as 'needing updating'. as well as upgrading of the pool, you are a hard person to please! Finally, if you have a hygiene related medical condition that requires extra house cleaning every day, it's wise to let us know in advance so we can decide whether you should come to Rainbow House in the first place. Lesson here for us owners is 'screen more carefully' .

Amazing Island

Stella Maris employees, Jill, waitresses, taxi driver, chef and anyone I missed are phenomenal. Assisted us in many ways. Very quick response time. Rainbow House is extremely well stocked, especially the paper products and towels. Kitchen is also well stocked with plenty of utensils, cookware, dishes etc. The villa was clean, as were the grounds. The upper deck is very large, as well as the pool deck. Gazebo great for fantastic breeze and photos. We highly recommend this property and resort. I have a couple of suggestions. We personally are outside people, and I wish there were some vertical blinds on the 2 large sliding doors. It would tremendously help with keeping family room cooler. Another plus would be TV's in the bedrooms. Definitely not needed, but watching TV in bed would be nice. Thanks for a lovely, memorable vacation. Pam, Gregg and Shannon

Thawing Out at the Rainbow House

We recently had the pleasure of staying at this incredible oceanfront house, and we can't recommend it enough. From the moment we walked in, we were struck by the beauty of the house's interior - high ceilings, elegant furnishings, and plenty of natural light making for a stunning and comfortable living space. But the real highlight of the property is definitely the outdoor space. We spent hours lounging by the private pool, taking in the stunning ocean views just a few steps away. The pool area is beautiful and well-maintained, with plenty of seating options for soaking up the sun or enjoying a meal outside. And we can't say enough about the staff at Stella Maris down the street - they truly went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was unforgettable. From a warm welcome upon arrival they took care of everything so that we could just relax and enjoy our vacation. Whenever we needed recommendations or assistance, the staff was always available and eager to help. Overall, we would absolutely recommend the Rainbow House to anyone looking for a luxurious, tranquil escape. With its stunning location, beautiful pool, and attentive staff, it's truly the perfect place to unwind and recharge.

If we had to rate this property on its location only, we would give it a 10, it is beautifully positioned just yards from the Atlantic's surf. There were 2 items of concern for us, but the owner & manager have disagreed, it's a difference of opinions.1. With the proximity to the ocean the home has endured infiltration of moisture so if you have allergies due to musty/moldy odors, you may want to consider this. The manager stated they didn't notice the smells.2. Security concerned us. The sliding doors have swelled & corroded with moisture, none of the locking mechanisms are operable. When we voiced this concern to the manager their comment was "No need for security on the Island" they said they would supply wooden sticks for the doors.Note: the infinity pool is not as advertised, that portion has been removed, the water level is lowered 10” as evident by the scum line on the pool walls.Some repairs have been done recently but there are many other items that are in need of repair. When we voiced our 2 major concerns & inability to stay, we asked for another option, but they had nothing else available, we then vacated the villa.I'm sure hurricane Melissa didn't do this home any favors. We write this review in distress knowing we are speaking of someone's treasure but also want to make potential travelers aware.This is not our 1st rodeo; we have traveled the Caribbean for 15 yrs and are accustomed to the variations of island living.Good luck fellow travelers!

There’s always one!! They come to the house, come through thre front door and start complaining. The moldy smell..no one else could smell it, and a team of cleaners had been in just hours before. She worried about security. This is an island of 2000 people—there is no crime—everyone knows everyone. BUT all the outside sliding hurricane, heavy duty doors..not swollen, just robust for obvious reasons, have blocks to prevent anyone getting in. And all the outside doors have locks. This house is absolutely safe. Visiting dignatories from the Bahamian government have stayed at Rainbow House. I wonder to myself why on earth someone would visit a house on an island like this. As for scum lines.. this pool is literally 20 feet from the Atlantic and gets serviced EVERY DAY so it is impossible for scum to ever develop. (By the way, over $50,000 was spent on refurbishing the pool in 2025) This is a visitor who should never have booked a house on an island. She would have been much happier in a Marriott in one of her 15 Caribbean resorts. This house has been rented for 14 years under our ownership..year after year we have had reviews from families that have been nothing but 5 stars, reflective of a house with the largest pool on the island and the best ocean view possible. VRBO should check with the host before permitting this kind of negative review. This review is more reflective of the person than the property. They should never have been allowed to book Rainbow House.

This house is great!

Both the owner of the house and the resort to which it is connected are lovely to deal with. The house is situated in a very magical spot right on the Atlantic ocean with incredible views. Magical moon rises and sea air. Inside the house is charming and warm and spacious. Bedrooms are isolated and private. Beds comfortable and a great time was had by all ! Highly recommend.

Rainbow House on Long Island is a rare gem!

Long Island is a hidden secret in the Bahamas. It is untouched, quiet and virtually empty. We had many of the beaches to ourselves. The house itself is spacious, clean, and very well equipped. The kitchen has everything you need. The ocean view from the huge porch and patios are magnificent. The pool is very clean, huge and right outside your bedroom door. The beach and bar are just steps away. The Stella Maris staff were very attentive and responded quickly to every question and issue we had. We are heading back again this year. Can't wait for some rum punches by the pool! We recommend Rainbow House for everybody.

Beautiful Rainbow House!

We enjoyed a wonderful stay last year at Rainbow House on Stella Maris Resort , and we are returning this year! The house is very well maintained. The pool and sun decks are such a treat as well as the huge Atlantic Ocean views , every morning with coffee to see the sunrise! Awesome! The resort is so close - with wonderful staff to help if needed and they offer some terrific Rum Punch Party's and excellent meals... can't say enough about this great holiday home! Our family is quick to come join us on our Long Island retreat!

Booked through Stella Maris resort. Everything with this house was perfect, clean, absolutely beautiful! Infinity Oceanside pool, wow! Access to the resort facilities as well!

Janice and Alasdair Ritchie live in Connecticut, in leafy New Canaan.
They have a home in the UK too, in a sleepy Oxfordshire village where they spend some time visiting grandchildren.
They originally bought Rainbow House from Katharine Jahr in 2011. She and her husband had built the house 30 years previously. Alex Jahr was one of the famous Gruner and Jahr publishing dynasty with a fanatic interest in deep sea fishing, so many of his trophies adorn the walls of Rainbow House and the nearby Stella Maris boutique hotel.
The house was built to exacting German quality standards.

Rainbow House represents all that is beautiful in a Caribbean villa. It is set in a marine environment which changes continuously. The sunsets and sunrises have to be seen to be believed and the gazebo overlooking the ocean is a place to just contemplate the world. Sitting underneath the canopy of this simple edifice is the fastest stress reliever known to man. The whole experience as you look out to the horizon, seeing the odd cruise ship or fishing boat heading for Cuba or Florida, with the waves washing the coral right beneath your feet, and the large Infinity pool behind you..guarantees you will leave Rainbow a calmer, totally relaxed person.

The large pool, the beautiful stylish bedrooms-all quite different from each other and the huge living room redolent of the famous Ernest Hemingway.
Nowhere like it in the world.
