The Space:

Villa Paloma began as a 1952 homestead cabin and was renovated and modernized in 2021 by designers Wolfgang and Connie Pichler. It now blends coastal Mediterranean living with the handcrafted Mexican style of Oaxaca, San Miguel de Allende, Todos Santos and Tulum. The home sits among boulders on more than four private hilltop acres on the edge of a protected wilderness zone, with views of Joshua Tree National Park. With three bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom, it suits small groups who want time together and private space. Pull a vintage book from the mini-library and carry it up to the sunset perch.

-Outdoor Amenities-

The property has several spots for taking in the views or watching wildlife. The shaded dining patio, surrounded by 100-year-old Joshua trees, junipers, agaves and ocotillos with park views, is set for an evening barbecue. The sunset perch has a pair of swivel loungers facing the valley and mountains. A raised yoga and meditation deck tucked into the boulders becomes the place for stargazing around the fire pit at night. The shaded patio by the cowboy tub is a good spot for a cocktail while quail and rabbits pass through; the cowboy tub is not an in-ground pool and is closed November through March. A hot tub, an outdoor shower, lounge chairs, a swing, cornhole and a horseshoe pit round it out. The property is not fully fenced.

Light-filled rooms, minimal design, earthy colors and carefully chosen art set a calm tone. The 270-degree conversation lounge has panoramic views, a smart TV and a fireplace for cool nights, and a mini-library is stocked with vintage books. A workspace and Starlink Wi-Fi are available.



-Kitchen and Dining-

The fully stocked chef's kitchen has brand-new appliances, cooking and entertaining essentials and a drinking water filtration system. A coffee and cocktail bar looks out over the desert, and the skylit dining area seats 8.



-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-

Villa Paloma has three bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom. The primary bath has a freestanding soaking tub and a rain shower. Organic bath products are provided; bathrobes are not.



-Surrounding Area-

Joshua Tree village, La Copine, the Integratron, Joshua Tree National Park and Pappy & Harriet's in Pioneertown all make good outings from Villa Paloma.

A personal vehicle is necessary to get around in this area - rideshare apps are not guaranteed.



The roads to Villa Paloma are dirt and are not suitable for low-riding cars. There is cell phone coverage at the property.



Other Things to Note:

-Cowboy Tub-

The pool at Villa Paloma is a cowboy tub, not an in-ground pool. The cowboy tub is drained and unavailable for guest use during the winter months (November through March) to prevent the filter from freezing and breaking.



-Hot Tub Rules-

Please rinse off any oils, lotions or other substances before entering the hot tub, as they affect water quality. No drinking in the hot tub and no glass by any water feature, please. Keep the cover on when the hot tub is not in use, since desert debris easily gets into the water. Misuse of the hot tub may result in an additional maintenance charge.



-EV Charging-

A 220V EV outlet is available. Please bring your own compatible charging cord and any adapters; the property does not provide a charging cable.



-House-Specific Rules-

► Any unauthorized late check-out beyond the 15-minute grace period will incur a $100 fee for the first hour, with an additional $100 charged for every hour thereafter.

► Quiet hours are 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. No external speakers allowed.

► Any locked closet, room or storage area on the property is reserved for rental supplies and is off limits to guests. Guests may be held responsible for damage or missing items if a locked area is entered.



-Pool and Hot Tub Service-

We have hot tub and cowboy tub cleanings twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, and these days may fall during your stay. Please avoid using the hot tub immediately after it has been serviced, as chemical levels are higher than usual for a short time.



-Pet Policy-

Pets are not permitted at this property. Unauthorized pets will result in a $500 fee.



-Pets-

Due to allergies, a $500 fine applies to any violation of the no-pets rule.

The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it's important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.
