The Space:

The Moondance is a fully reimagined 1961 mid-century former horse ranch house on 2.5 acres of desert, among Joshua trees, cholla, beavertail cactus and creosote, half a mile from the boundary of Joshua Tree National Park. The design mixes modern and vintage, minimalist and organic, inspired by the landscape and the region's music history. From the hot tub, views stretch to boulder-piled mountains to the south, the Mojave to the north and east, and San Gorgonio, the tallest mountain in Southern California, to the west. At about 2,000 square feet, it suits families and groups of up to nine.

-Outdoor Amenities-

The hot tub has lounge chairs and 360-degree views of the mountains and desert. There are also a propane fire pit, a propane BBQ, an outdoor dining area, an outdoor shower, a horseshoe pit and XL Jenga. The 2.5 acres are not fully fenced.



-Living Area-

The living room has a TV, a record player, a Bluetooth sound system, books and a daybed with a trundle that sleeps two. A dedicated workspace is available.



-Kitchen and Dining-

The kitchen has flatware, cookware, dishes and prep tools, plus a refrigerator and freezer, dishwasher, electric stove, oven, coffee maker, Chemex, Capresso burr grinder, toaster, kettle, blender and microwave. The dining table and bar table seat up to 10 people.



-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-

The primary bedroom has a king Casper bed that can be converted to two twins, plus a rattan daybed suited to a child or anyone under 5'6". The second and third bedrooms each have a queen bed. A twin rollaway bed with a soft foam mattress is available for any bedroom, and the living room daybed with trundle sleeps two more. There are two bathrooms. A crib, travel crib (on request) and high chair are available.

The Moondance is about 5 minutes from Joshua Tree village and half a mile from the boundary of Joshua Tree National Park. If you plan to have dinner at Pappy & Harriet's in Pioneertown, we strongly recommend reserving in advance.



Guest Access:

The entire house and property are yours to enjoy!



No more than 10 people may spend the night on the property without written permission.

The Moondance is in a quiet, secluded part of Joshua Tree near the national park boundary, surrounded by Joshua trees and desert plants.

Other Things to Note:

-Pool and Hot Tub Service-

The hot tub is serviced Mondays and Thursdays, approximately between 9am and 4pm. Please note that these times are estimates and may change slightly due to our technician's busy schedule. He will not approach the house but will go directly through to the backyard.



-Pet Policy-

We welcome your dogs! There is a $100 per dog per stay fee, limit of 2 dogs maximum. Please note on your reservation if you are bringing dog(s) and how many, and we will adjust the price accordingly. There is an unauthorized pet fee of $1000. Please use the provided dog sheets before allowing your dogs on any furniture. Cats and other pets are not allowed.

-Wildlife & Safety-

The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it's important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.



-Security Camera-

For your security, there are three exterior Ring cameras at the front of the house. They do not see into any private areas or the back of the property.



-Cats-

We are unable to accommodate cats due to the owner's severe allergy. We appreciate your understanding!



-Weddings, Events and Photoshoots-

If you're interested in a wedding, special event or photoshoot, please let us know. Additional fees apply.



-Check-in and Check-out-

Check-in is after 4:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM. Early check-in and late check-out requests must be made at least 24 hours in advance and are subject to availability and our cleaning schedule.



-Late Check-out-

Any unauthorized late check-out beyond the 15-minute grace period will incur a $100 fee for the first hour, with an additional $100 charged for every hour thereafter.



-Check-out Tasks-

Before you leave, please wash any dirty dishes or load and start the dishwasher, place used towels on the bathroom floor, leave used beds unmade, turn off all lights, check for personal items, and lock all doors and windows. No other cleaning or trash removal is required unless noted elsewhere in this listing.



-Lost and Found-

Items left behind will incur a minimum return shipping fee of $50, depending on the shipping address.



-Quiet Hours-

Quiet hours are 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Please keep voices and music at a respectful level outdoors at all times, and turn off all music, including portable and vehicle audio, during quiet hours. Guests are responsible for any noise fines, and a minimum $1000 fine applies to any noise citation.



-Smoking-

Smoking of any kind, including cigarettes, cigars, vapes and cannabis, is not permitted inside the home. Outdoor smoking must be at least 20 feet from doors and windows, and all smoking materials must be fully put out and thrown away. Evidence of indoor smoking will result in smoke-removal charges and a $1000 fee.



-Visitors-

Only guests listed on the reservation may stay at or visit the property unless we approve it in advance, and the total number of people on the property may not exceed the listing's maximum occupancy. Please message us before inviting any visitors.



-Parking-

Please park only in the driveway or other designated parking areas on the property. Street parking is not permitted and may result in fines.



-Restricted Areas-

Any locked closet, room or storage area on the property is reserved for rental supplies and is off limits to guests. Guests may be held responsible for damage or missing items if a locked area is entered.



-Hot Tub Care-

Please shower before using the hot tub, and do not add bath products, oils or bubble bath to the water. Glass is not permitted in or near the water, and pets are not allowed in it. Please keep covers in place whenever the water is not in use. Please avoid using the hot tub right after it has been serviced, while chemical levels are temporarily higher. Misuse that requires extra cleaning, draining or reheating will be charged to the guest, and leaving a cover off may result in a servicing fee of at least $100.



-Cell Service-

Cell phone coverage in the area may be limited or unavailable depending on your carrier. Wi-Fi is available at the property.



-Damage Waiver Policy-

Each reservation requires either a refundable security deposit or a non-refundable damage waiver.
