"The Purple Parrot" liegt nur wenige hundert Meter von der Strandpromenade zum privaten Strand des Golfs von Mexiko entfernt! Diese kleine, private Gemeinschaft hat auch einen Pool, einen Tennisplatz und einen Zugang zum Tor.

Great family vacation

The house was perfect for our family - plenty of room for the grandkids to stretch out. The 3rd floor game room was a hit and the tables looked relatively new. Very happy with this rental. Loved the quiet neighborhood and short walk to the beach.

Spring break 2022

We enjoyed this property. It had everything we needed in a quiet neighborhood with great beach access. The teens loved the game room. The house does need some minor fix up and may be some updates on mattresses but I would definitely stay there again.

Great Location, Plenty of Room, Needs Updates

Our stay was great for the week, we had 4 adults and 6 children 7 and under. The house had plenty of room for everyone, all the rooms were spacious and the bathrooms were huge. Kitchen had plenty of room for cooking as well. Only down side was the house was not very clean and you could see a lot of wear & tear, with some updates it would be awesome.

Nice home

House was good fit for our family of 10 close pool and beach. We enjoyed fishing and pool a lot. We had problem with washer leaking but staff got someone out to our rental within the day and a part ordered.

Real Nice Location, Great Community..

The Stay was Good The A/C in the house was Awesome Worked Like None other. Our Stay was the 1st week of the Covid19 Opening back Up and we were Assured by the Rental Company the House would have a Very Deep Cleaning for the Safety Of Everyone.. We Spent the Better Part of 3 hours Cleaning the House when we arrived Bacon Grease was left all over the stove and counters, bread crumbs from toast on counters, bathrooms were Yucky, floors were dirty, hair still in Lower Shower. After we Got the House Cleaned Up the stay was Great, The house needs Lots of Maintenance done to it.

AC great, location great. kitchen stuff okay, cleanliness - you need to get someone else to clean this house. Obviously they never mover the furniture to clean under. Same as last year. Lots of smokers and vapors at the pool every day.

Nice neighborhood and quiet beach

House is in a nice gated community that isn't a terrible walk to the beach but it is a walk. The boardwalk went really close to the beach so pulling our wagon wasn't a problem. The beach was great! Not crowded at all. The house itself had plenty of room but maintenance to the house was just OK. The worst part was all the outside decking was rough. Had lots of nails that needed to be hammered back in. Would not walk out there barefooted. Game room was nice to keep the kids busy.

Great location and quiet neighborhood

This is a nice, big property in a really great location. It’s only a short walk to the beach and pool. We’ve stayed in this neighborhood before and this house had far less amenities than other properties (very little in cabinets, etc). There was a small bag of sand toys, 2 kids bikes and a few outdoor games. While spacious, this house has definitely seen some parties. Lots of knicks, chipped paint, a few holes in walls, rip in upstairs couch. The bunkbeds are very creaky. None of these things ruined our stay but they could definitely use some attention.

Has not been updated in many years. Hole in deck patched with thin board-safety hazard. Nail heads sticking up. Master bed is sunk in, front door won't open all the way due to floor uneven. Nasty bathtub, freezer, & ceiling fans. Kitchen sink backs up running dishwasher or garbage disposal. Must run bathroom sink hot water in order to take shower. To much to list other stuff.

Second time at the Purple Parrot

We stayed here two years ago and loved it, so we came back this year. For the most part we had a great week. The neighborhood is great and the private beach is close to the house and wonderful. We did have some issues with the house this time though. The front door wouldn't latch and there was a clogged sink, but both were fixed quickly. However we then had ants in a cabinet that ruined some of our food and were told they would spray after we checked out (this was Tuesday, so we bought our own spray). Then on Thursday the upstairs shower leaked through the ceiling to the bedroom below and maintenence refused to come out until we checked out. It was not ideal to be unable to use a shower for the last couple of days with 11 people in the house. I don't blame the owners--it seemed like the management company just didn't want to handle some of the issues and their communication worsened as the week progressed.

Excellent Location! Perfect size for our family!

This property is perfectly located! Beach access is easy, lots of parking available, easy walking to all amenities and close access to the entire island. The house has more than enough square footage. It is in need of some upkeep. We spent some time hammering nails in the porches and stairs (little feet and nails hurt!), the railing isnt reliable (don't lean on it). Lots of peeling paint. Missing pool ball (8 ball) with the pool table. Furniture is in okay shape. The bunk beds need tightened, and mattresses are just okay. Bring some extra blankets with you, there aren't any and you may need them. Bring trash bags, baggies, etc, those are not provided. Be bought some cleaners and liquid hand soap, there was none. But, for a big family you won't have to worry much about a pristine house. It's lived in, and you can relax a little more knowing that. The beaches are not busy, the neighborhood is quiet. I wouldn't hesitate to rent again.

While the property was well-located and the house spacious, the interior was not acceptable.

The house location and spaciousness were much appreciated but the interior and patio furniture looked as though this was a place used by spring-breakers. Patio furniture was in disrepair, the screens in the screen doors were hanging by a thread, the kitchen ceiling had layers of dust, the kitchen island surface was covered in dried food, the dining room table glass top revealed dirt and crumbs underneath and there was a layer of dust on all surfaces. In the master bath on the first floor, the bathtub had one handle for hot/cold water and to adjust between tub and hand-held shower. The washing machine only had a hot water cycle, and the second floor carpets were badly stained. I have photographs of all this. Again the hose was spacious and well-located, but based on what I have listed, but certainly not worth the weekly rental fee charged. What a disappointment- not sure we can trust VRBO to provide accurate information about the properties it features. We respectfully request a 25% refund of our weekly rental.

Not as advertised

This property is like a Picasso. It looks amazing in pictures and when you turn down the street to see it for the first time. Then you get closer, walk in the door, and everything goes downhill from there. Where to begin. Let me start with the main front door entrance. Number one, it did not securely lock. It could simply be pushed open and the wind did push it open during a pop up thunderstorm. We had to move a loveseat in front of the door to keep it closed for the rest of the storm and overnight until maintenance came to hammer the rusted open bolts into locking position. Not a safe start as I had my parents and children with me. The door also leaked in multiple summers storms. Along with the upper French doors and the third floor windows. We spent quite a bit of time keeping water off the floors in front of all three while we were there. Not all outlets functioned in the kitchen. The refrigerator is falling apart and unable to be completely cleaned due to rust and other issues. Upon arrival the second floor master bathroom shower was not functional. The jack and jill bathroom on the second floor didn't even have a curtain liner that was long enough to keep the water in the shower, so more time spent cleaning up water out of the floor. The front porch and the back deck look like they need to be torn off the house and rebuilt, which is really sad. The second floor porch should be the star of the show at sunset, but it holds water, looks unsafe, and does not even have any outdoor seating up there. The second floor deck is locked off and can't even be accessed due to it appearing to be even more unsafe than the front porch. The screened in porch is virtually useless due to the doors not being plumb, therefore large gaps are always present for bugs to fly in. Overall, the house is large and more than capable of hosting a large family. However, the upkeep and cleanliness of this property left everything to be desired. Would not recommend and will not be back.

Family Thanksgiving vacation

We had a great stay even though the house had many issues. Upon arrival the house was not clean and had to call to have someone cone clean it which they sent someone immediately. The refrigerator needs to be replaced, the door shelves were broken and the refrigerator was small, the ice maker was broken. Every ceiling in the house had water damage, when a repair was attempted it was a very poor job and already needing to be repaired again. The outside decking is in need of repair and lights on the front stairs is recommended. With a lot of repair this house would be an awesome place to stay again.

Great Value,

Greatly enjoyed this property for a multi-family vacation on Dauphin Island. The location was a short walk to the beach. We felt very safe in the gated community and the neighborhood was very friendly. The kids enjoyed the upstairs gameroom in the evenings. The kitchen is very spacious with lots of room to store groceries away in the cupboards. Would definitely stay here again

Nice big house

This house was a large house that met our families needs well. It is a little aged, but still very nice. Loved the third floor game room. Great entertainment for the teenagers.

Our trip

house was great. a/c was cold, location is great, house is all as advertised. Your cleaning service is not earning their money!!! Bathrooms were not cleaned, underneath the sofas was filthy, plastic bottle underneath cabinet in master bath, some of the plumbing accessories were broken, handles on some of the furniture were not present.

Family Vacation 2020

It was supposed to be both of our girls meeting us there, but with Covid happening our daughter and her husband from Virginia didn’t make it. This was our second trip to the island, our favorite place to vacation. We love this neighborhood! We’ll be back next year! The house was great, close to the beach, and porches and game room a plus! The only bad thing is the mattress on the first floor needs replaced.

Covid getaway

Really nice property everything was as described. Lots of rooms big for gathering of people. Really enjoyed the screen in porch. Would stay again. Beds comfy. Quite area.

Quiet Week

Short walk to the beach. The game-room entertained the kid during bad weather. The neighborhood was quiet.
