Nice property

This was a very nice house for our family to join together and have a little vacation! The pool was by far the biggest hit! The property was beautiful and overall clean.

It was fantastic !!

The kitchen was wonderful to work in. The house is spacious and beautiful! The grounds had many places to spread out and enjoy. We enjoyed the fire ring and grill. The pool was very nice.. a little chilly. The pool area was very accommodating. Missed the hot tub working.

This place is awesome!! Lots of room for a bigger family gathering to have.

The place was clean, in a great area with trails and not overly far from Old Man's Cave/restaurants. I have never had such a fully stocked kitchen!! It was the best place we have every stayed in!!

Host was very prompt in responding. The pool temperature and cleanliness was great! Plenty of rooms for everyone. We spent most of our day at hocking hills park. It is a very quiet property.

Ladies getaway

The women in our family like to get together every few years to visit, shop, eat and imbibe. We found the perfect location. The castle was clean and comfortable. We had an issue with the hot tub (electrical) and were not able to use it but we were compensated. The managing company was easy to get ahold of and responded quickly.

Really nice are to get away

We enjoyed our stay very much. Very quiet area away from everything but close to a lot. The night sky was beautiful sitting in the hot tub relaxing. Great place to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of life.

Family reunion

This was beautiful in the photos, and beautiful in person. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub, both were clean and in great condition. The short stretch of road to the driveway is a bit steep and not paved, so the car with 2-wheel-drive struggled a bit going up, but the AWD made it easier. BookHocking staff are very easy to reach for help if you need it.

The house was nice. We got a text that the hot tub was out so they offered a small package and a very small refund for the inconvenience. Seems it’s been out for a while due to other reviews we recently saw. We were notified just a few days before we checked in. The game room in the basement is not what was pictured. It’s a 3-in-1 table that is just a few feet long. So, we spent most of our time by the fire pit. Paid almost four thousand dollars for 2 nights to sit by a fire pit.

We also wanted to love this vacation rental. Most of the amenities that were advertised were either not available or broken. The photos were very misleading. The yard and grounds were not kept up. This could be a wonderful place to stay, but it needs a lot of TLC.

Everything was just like the pictures online. We had enough towels, washcloths and toiletries! The home was well stocked. The pool was nice but the pool storage area needed to be organized. We had two issues one was the hot tub wasn’t working and there was no outside lights near the cabana. We were reimbursed for the hot tub not working. I will definitely tell my friends and coworkers about this property!! We really loved the property!!

Annual Family Getaway

We had a wonderful time in this beautiful house. There is plenty of room for large groups, plenty of hot water for showers, (which is always nice ;) kitchen well-stocked. The beds were comfortable, wish we could have stayed longer. Was it perfect, no... can you always find fault, yes, but that can be said of any place, including our own homes. The only thing I would improve on is seating for the dining room. We would stay again in a heartbeat!!!

The pool, the screened porch and the gazebo were lovely! The zip line was a hit with our grandchildren as well as the pool. The beds were very comfortable. We noticed the cleanliness of the interior immediately…A+ on that!

What an amazing spacious getaway for a family dog for ages ranging 32 to 84. There was plenty of first floor rooms and bathrooms to accommodate all mobility levels. We do wish we had better planned for the distance from the house to the pool. There was difficulty in transport/distance for our older folks. We enjoyed all areas of the home and fire pit area. We did have some difficulty navigating the driveways at first but figured it out. We went to nearby McAthur to pick up pizza and to Lake Hope Lodge for a lovely dinner. Plenty of room for our little pup as well and just a great place overall. There were some very minor things that would not at all deter us from a revisit - some low lighting in some areas especially common areas; the hot tub was out of service but that was probably for the best with our crew! All in all would absolutely revisit.

The house was generally well-appointed. It was off-season, so we couldn't use the pool; however, if we had, we didn't realize that the pool is about 30 yards from the house. With as dark as it is outside, that may have been problematic.The two first-floor bedrooms share an unattached bathroom and have very little to no closet space at all. We found the gas fireplaces difficult to light. Light switches throughout the house were frustrating to use and need to be labeled.The screened-in porch was nice, but there was a football-sized hole in one of the screens, so there were numerous ladybugs entering the space. (Fall is ladybug season down there.) The outdoor gas grill was nice.The surrounding dining scene is pretty much nonexistent, so pack plenty of food. In conclusion, if you are looking for a nice looking and well-equipped vacation home in the middle of nowhere, I can recommend The Castle on the Hill.

We liked that the whole family could be together in the big room where the tv was. We liked the pool for the kids to be in daily. The bedrooms were big and allowed us to be separate if needed. The kitchen was too small for that many people though. And there were a few things that needed repaired on the property and things were a little worn but overall we enjoyed our stay.

Castle on the Hill

Property was beautiful house and location, kids really enjoyed the zip line. Disappointed in hot tub, 1st night someone came and worked on it it never got above 88 degrees. Propane tank for gas grill was empty, we had to go and buy one in order to grill out.

I really wanted to like this place. The main reason I booked it was for the heated pool. By the time we were able to get the pool cover off (which was a struggle) it was freezing. Definitely not heated like advertised. The hot tub was broken, had to send someone out to fix it and get it up to temp on first night, still couldn't resolve jet and light issues. Some of the towels we used smelled moldy and we had issues with the TV working. Overall moderately disappointed

Beautiful home and property, overall very clean. Lots of towels and hot showers. Wifi and signal was excellent which is rare for hocking hills. Host is easy to get a hold of and excellent communication. We really loved what this property had to offer and the photos online, however we were dissapointed that many of the amenities advertised were not available.We were notified a few days before our trip that the hot tub was not working, that was a disappointment off the bat, but They did compensate us for that.We were really looking forward to the hiking trails, however all the trails are overgrown to your knees and fallen trees. There wasnt any of the baby gear posted, no highchair, pack and play, baby monitor. No bikes for the kids or basketball for the hoop. The grill didn't have propane, i did message the host and they did come in like 15 mins with a full one. The pool.was low on water so they came to fill that, and we had to keep track and turn it off at 9:30 pm. Outside lights weren't working, had to use flashligts, or the fountain outside. Broken tile walking up to the porch. Zip line missing safery spring. Sofa different, not very comfortable. We really wanted to just get away from everything but everyday people were stopping by, to mow, for the pool 3 times in one day, the propane, a neighbor looking for a package.Overall we had a good time.This property has potential to be the best, but needs some maintenance. Would definitely go again if these things were updated.

The house was poorly landscaped. Leaves and debris covered allnthe outside entertaining areas. The front door failed to lock correctly. The cieling in the kitchen is in bad shape from water damage. The listing is confusing about the hot tub. It is mentioned several times, but has been removed from the property. Carpets are stained and dirty. There is no balls or equipment for the game tables. Trash all over the outside of the property. The pictures of this property are clearly outdated, and not a good representation of its current status.
