Welcome to our charming 2-bedroom apartment that we like to call Hickory Cottage. This back unit duplex has a modern touch and stocked will all your vacation rental needs. An open floor plan shares the kitchen, dining room, and living area. The kitchen is stocked with the basics to cook a home cooked meal or to warm up left overs from the night before. The dining room table has enough room to host family game night while enjoying music or a movie on the tv. The TV is a smart TV perfect for streaming your favorites. The bathroom has an ample amount of space to spread out and get ready in. This unit does share the laundry in the breezeway between unit 1 & 2.

Everything was great, but I don’t know if I misunderstood or they misunderstood that there’s apartment in the front in the back. I was trying to get in the front one when I was scheduled for the back one maybe make that more clear other than that it was great.

We enjoyed our stay and the property is just as it is in the pictures. Great location and easy to get to downtown Saugatuck and Douglas. Communication with host was great as power went out in the city and they sent a text with a link for us to check the outage area snd when the power would be returned.

This property is on a main road into town and although noisy and busy at times.. the location was very convenient. I was supposed to get info with entrance code well before my arrival. Nothing was received. Check in was 3.. arrived at 4 and had to call to get code. There was no thermostat found and air wasn’t so cool until the attached unit had their guests checked in. The bathroom had mold at the base of the shower. The exhaust fan was caked with brown dirt as well as the air conditioner vent. I’m going to try to attach photos if I can. There was no coffee or filters provided as you would expect for a higher priced unit. The guests in the attached unit had screaming kids running and hitting the walls… super disappointed in the lack of care and cleanliness of this rental. Do not stay here… and definitely question the management company for their lack of care in their property.

Close to perfect…

The issue with our stay was the fact that the thermostat was in the front unit. It was hot and uncomfortable in our unit. The back bedroom and hall windows DID NOT have screens so couldn’t even open those windows to help with the heat. The walls are thin and you can hear the people in the unit next door talking opening doors and flushing the toilet. Luckily they were pretty quiet. Other than those issues the place was as advertised. The uncomfortable temp was a big issue for me.

Girls’ weekend

The property was very clean and was located for easy drives to Saugatuck, Douglas and Fennville. It was fine for adults but the wall to the adjoining unit was very thin and the voices, toilet, etc could be easily heard. Fortunately they were not late night party people. The unit was very chilly and we could not find a thermostat to adjust the air conditioning. The tv was also problematic for us. Perhaps someone more advanced with technology would find it user friendly but we did not. Overall, the unit provided us with a place to sleep,,but was pretty basic.

Memorial Day Weekend

The initial listing picture & address in the VRBO portal was deceiving because it was the front half of the house and did not specify a unit. The entry code provided worked when I got there, however, it turns out I was in the wrong unit. There was a second unit in the back that I was supposed to be in! It had one less bedroom which I didn't notice because I only had the cost filter on when I booked last minute. This caused issues with the person that was supposed to have my unit. The owners were able to get it handled quickly, so I still gave this an overall 5. I recommend they update the listings to specify unit # and outside picture prior to booking & use different entry codes for each unit to prevent this from happening in the future.

Freezing. Back unit cannot control the thermostat. The front unit had the AC on so cold all of us were freezing. We asked them to raise it but it continued to blow cold air into our rooms. Be careful of pans the handles get extremely hot. We found pot holders after we realized how hot these were. There is no coffee filters - we were told there was no coffee but they did not mention filters. We could have brought some had we known. Communication was frequent to ask that we bring our garbage to the can then bring it to the street. When I asked where the can was located- they kept repeating to bring it to the curb. Not helpful in the full rain storm at checkout. They need to include directions on how to lock the door. It was not intuitive to any of us.
