Lake Anna Lake House

Very spacious and well stocked kitchen for large groups. The property location was beautiful with lake access and plenty of spaces for the family to gather. The kids loved catching fish off the dock. We had to spend a lot of our first few hours there sweeping leaves and spider webs before we were able to use the outdoor spaces. There were a lot of chairs and things around the dock that were in disrepair, but after that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The pictures do not match the current condition of the property. The condition of the exterior is terrible, a good example is the grill. We didn't even attempt to use the grille because of the condition of the grille exterior and the cooking surface. I could continue! Vrbo needs to consider delisting this house from your website.

A pretty decent place to stay.

I feel like reviews have been hit or miss for this place so I wanted to leave a detailed one. The place is a great size and had plenty of space for everyone to stay. There’s actually 7 bedrooms if you count the bunkroom, which doesn’t have a door to but is great for kids to sleep. There’s 3 rooms with double beds, 3 rooms with kings, and then the bunk room with 6 twins between all the bunks. The interior of the house was very clean and had a well stocked kitchen with plenty of kitchen utensils and plates. We also really enjoyed the sun room. The basement level had a lot of little flies, but it’s Virginia in the summer and maybe that can’t be avoided. The location was great. Ideal for 4th of because of all the fireworks. The outside area was a little worse for wear. The patio furniture and deck were pretty dirty as well as some loose bricks in the front. The bbq is definitely dirty. I wouldn’t use it. But we brought our own flat top. We enjoyed the chairs down on the dock. But the fire pit and areas around it were pretty dirty. There is a water mat and some water toys in the shed down by the dock that work great after a little cleaning up. They don’t provide beach towels, so make sure you bring some. Great communication from the host. The sink wasn’t working great and she sent someone over the next day to fix it. Check in was easy. Lots of parking. Overall being on the less expensive end of large houses it was a good place to stay. Just needs some cleaning up outside.

Disappointing

First, the positive: - the house has a lot of room, plenty for a large group.- the poker and blackjack tables are fun, if that’s your thing- great location on the lakeNow, the negative:- Check-in was a little bumpy, from the perspective that I did not receive check in information on the day of check in. I had to request this info through the app multiple times before I received the info, which was 15 minutes prior to check in time. While I received it prior to check in time, it was slightly stressful. My other experiences with VRBO have been much smoother, with check-in info arriving well before check in.- The house is poorly maintained and cared for. There are stains on many walls, weathered furniture, broken glasses in the cabinets, missing lids on the outside trash can, old outside furniture that needs to be thrown away laying on the ground between the house and the water, etc. The house simply looks beat up, inside and out. - There was a significant lack of cleanliness. There were beer can tabs and pieces of gift wrapping paper on the living room floor when we arrived. MULTIPLE kitchen cabinets had mice droppings in the cabinets, including those with silverware and cooking utensils/pots & pans. The cleaning process for the house is clearly lacking.I don't like leaving a negative review, however I would want future guests to understand what may be waiting for them, and hopefully this review will spark action by the owners to put more effort into the property.

Beautiful lake views but ...

The lake view of this spacious house is beautiful. We enjoyed family time on the dock (after we disposed of the empty beer cans and trash that had been left there) and on the swings. Lights in those areas would help. The house itself was in disrepair and dirty. Beds had debris under them, bunk beds had stained sheets, water bottles, vape containers, and food wrappers in them. Coffee pots did not work (we bought another!), stove top was filthy (we cleaned it!), and dishwasher needed repair (we made do!). There were no lightbulbs in some bedroom lamps, stained carpets, blood stains on the wall and trash left in bathroom, to name a few of the issues we encountered. Disgusting! Cobwebs were found throughout the house. We never used the grill due to the thick coating of grease (we chose not to clean this!) Several texts, emails and phone calls to the host went unanswered. Halfway through the week, the master bath shower leaked onto the bed in the room below. That call to the host's emergency line was answered and she sent a plumber who was not able to repair until after our stay. That left us with 2 showers for 11 people to share. Never did we have an actual voice response from the host. This home was definitely not what we thought we had rented. Such a disappointment!

This review is surprising as the only communication from the guest during the stay other than an emergency call regarding the leaking shower was how wonderful the house was and how much they loved and were enjoying the home. We responded immediately to the leaking shower call and found that the guests had the nozzle pointed out of the shower causing the issue. We still were not notified of any issues or concerns. The carpets were professionally cleaned just 2 weeks prior to these guests arrival and the home is regularly and thoroughly cleaned. The grill is a flat top grill so is cleaned differently and the guests weren't familiar. This is an unfortunate review giving an inaccurate description of a loved, beautiful Lake Anna home. I did receive a late night text after the stay threatening that we give a refund "or else" and I guess this is the "or else" but had we been notified of any issues during the stay, we would have responded rapidly and appropriately.
