Blue Heron Beach Cottage is a pet-friendly Birch Bay retreat just a 60-second walk from the beach, in Blaine, Washington. Settle into a private, fully fenced garden you can enjoy year-round, cook in a kitchen guests call the best stocked they've ever seen, and sleep deeply in beds you'll sink into. It's made for girls' weekends, couples' getaways, and quiet solo resets, and it's an easy drive from Seattle, Bellingham, or Vancouver, BC.

YOUR DOG'S VACATION, TOO
Plenty of rentals allow dogs. We plan for them. The garage is set up as dog headquarters:

Large 42" x 60" crate
Leashes, bowls, towels, and poop bags
Rinse station and dog shampoo to wash off the beach sand
Covers for the couch and beds, so everyone can snuggle
Pee pads and cleaning spray for the occasional oopsie
Three fully fenced outdoor areas for safe, happy sniffing

A KITCHEN FOR PEOPLE WHO LOVE TO COOK
Pantry basics are usually on hand: spices, oils, coffee, tea, and pancake mix. You'll also find an Instant Pot, waffle iron, blender, Magic Bullet, and electric mixer, plus plenty of pots, pans, and bakeware. Bring the groceries, and we've got the rest. There's even a picnic basket you can borrow for lunch on the beach.

SLEEP LIKE YOU MEAN IT (SLEEPS 6)
Every bed has a high-quality mattress, great pillows, soft linens, and extra blankets.

The Heron's Nest (main floor): Queen bed, walk-in closet, ensuite bath with shower, and a door straight out to the garden.
The White Crane (upstairs): A quiet, serene retreat with a queen bed and cozy vibes.
The Heron's Nook (upstairs): A semi-private nook off The White Crane with a full bed tucked behind a blackout curtain. Guests call it the perfect spot for a nap or a good book.

THE GARDEN, IN EVERY SEASON
Your private, fenced garden is filled with native plants and trees and glows with string lights after dark. A semi-private seating area lets you enjoy the view even when the Pacific Northwest drizzle rolls in. Fire up the propane BBQ and gather around the picnic table for dinner outside.

COZY NIGHTS IN
Curl up by the electric fireplace, bring your platform sign in credentials to stream a show on the smart TV, or open the game cupboard: Scrabble, Bananagrams, Boggle, Pictionary, Apples to Apples, Monopoly, Never Have I Ever, poker, and more. There are also shelves of books and a stack of puzzles.

WHO WILL LOVE IT HERE
Girls' weekends, couples' getaways, solo travelers who need to recharge, and anyone who can't imagine vacation without their dog. We're a peaceful home, not a party house. The cottage is best suited for adults. Small families are welcome, but the home isn't childproofed and has no toys, so please bring your own entertainment for little ones.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Step out the door and you're a one-minute walk from the beach, the cafe, the thrift store, the golf cart rental shop, and, in summer, the famous C Shop. Birch Bay State Park is about 3/4 mile away. Birch Bay sits in Blaine, about 15 minutes from the Peace Arch border crossing, 25 minutes from Bellingham, and about an hour from Vancouver, BC. We're on a quiet, residential street with great neighbors, so please keep noise down and respect their spaces.

Fall and winter are Birch Bay's best-kept secret. The beaches are quiet, the sunsets are moody, and a fireplace and a good book are waiting when you get back.

GOOD TO KNOW

Dogs: Up to 2 dogs, 50 lbs or less each. A pet fee applies. Please pick up after your pup in the yard during your stay and before checkout.
Sleeping: Three beds sleep 1 to 2 guests each, for up to 6 guests.
Quiet home: No parties or events, please.
Security: Exterior security cameras monitor outdoor areas only.
Smoke-free: The entire property is smoke-free.
Everyone's welcome: This is a safe, inclusive space, and we welcome all guests with open arms and hearts.
