Perfect Family Vacation

We loved our stay at Sugar Beach Resort. This condo was awesome. Most beautiful views from the Lanai. The property is managed by Alii Resorts and they do a great job looking after you. If we were to return to Maui we would book this exact same condo again.

Love Maui!

Maui is beautiful and we loved Kihei’s laid-back vibe. It is super windy here near the bay, so not as easy to swim and the water isn’t that clear blue-green. But the beach is great and not super-crowded. There are good local places to eat in Kihei and pretty close drive to everything. The condo was great- well stocked with necessities which was very helpful. And loved the Sand Witch!!!

Fantastic introduction to Maui!

This was our first trip to Maui and what a fantastic way to start! We were met at the unit by friendly staff, making the check in process easy. The condo is bright, clean, spacious and very well stocked. There wasn't anything that we wanted that wasn't available. The view from the lanai was breath taking; we were able to see the whales break the water with our binoculars! The pool area and beach are very well maintained and parking is plentiful. We will definitely stay here again and highly recommend this unit.

Saved by SB after Kihei floods

Aloha The flood was one experience, but finding a new condo for our family of 6 is our next worry as we were now displaced from a flood devastated condo (down the road). SB #535 saved our vacation. The process was timely and worry-free with friendly and efficient staff. #535 - breathtaking view of nightly sunsets!. #535 was a fantastic condo for our adult family of 6. So much room to enjoy family time inside and on the extra large, oceanfront balcony. Paradise!

All staff were extremely nice! We arrived and had a bottle of wine and chocolates on the table with a congratulations card (we came to maui to get married!) Which really meant a lot to us! The condo is the last on the row, so very private feel, very clean and spectacular views! My whole family really enjoyed it! We asked before we arrived if it was okay to have about 20 people join us rhe night of our wedding and they said that was fine and it fit everyone very comfortably. My kids enjoyed the pool area every day and the beach is very easy access right from the property which was great for sunset and evening strolls. We did not experience anything negative during our stay it was truly fantastic! This is a great place to stay and I couldnt reccomend enough!

Very nice

Great view. Very clean. Both screen doors were broken and we contacted the management company and we were there a week and they were never fixed. A very very slight inconvenience but for the amount of money you're paying you would expect something like that to be fixed rather quickly. Not sure if it's a management issue or the owners or if they're wanting the same. At the end of the day beautiful place and hopefully they get the screen door fixed!

Can't beat it!

This room is one of the best rooms we have stayed in for view, location, size and general enjoyment of Maui. We come over to Maui a lot and this is now my first choice if available. A bit pricey but very affordable if sharing. The room is actually a double size unit with a fantastic large lanai on the 5th floor looking out at swaying palm trees and the ocean just a few feet away. We shared this room with our adult children and plenty of room for all of us with 2 bathrooms. The master bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything you would need. The view and lanai made is such that we didn't turn on the tv for the whole trip. The Sugar Beach walk is fantastic and starts at the foot of the building going North. The entire walk over to the Maalea buildings is 8.4 kms (return) along a non-developed beach. Kihei is just a few minutes drive away for a quick grocery run or restaurant. Only complaint is the couch and lounger are sectional pieces that constantly move apart when trying to sit or lay on them. Frustrating. Other than that the furnishings and decor is very nice. Great place to stay and highly recommend.

Amazing!!

We had such an amazing time staying here! The location is perfect as well. If you want a quiet day on the beach or at the pool, you can stay, or it’s a great starting point for many day trips that you can go on! The decor in the condo is so fun, and comfortable too! We loved having coffee every morning out on the lanai- probably one of our favourite parts of the entire trip! Would definitely stay here again, and most definitely would recommend this place to anyone coming to Maui!

Spectacular family vacation

Our first trip to Maui was greatly enhanced by our stay at this unit in the Sugar Beach Resort. Spacious, well equipped, comfortable with a breathtaking view are just a few ways to begin to describe this unit. I always read reviews but generally don’t write them; however, I felt inclined to do so after recently returning from our vacation. Our family of four, including two boys under 10, had lots of room to relax after a day of exploring the island or hanging out on the beach or playing in the pool. Having the beach only steps away was a huge plus. The boys had lots of fun in the sand and boogie boarding on the waves, especially when the Kona winds were blowing. The view from the lanai was incredible..front row seating for kiteboarders and windsurfers on breezy afternoons, early morning canoes, manta ray spotting on calm mornings and of course the sunsets over the west Maui mountains. As a previous reviewer stated, the common grill area was an unexpected highlight of our stay. We met lots of friendly people eager to hear about and share their daily island experiences. The onsite concierge was nice, staff was helpful and friendly. Snorkel equipment was of good quality and cheaper than some of the specialty places in town. The property manager for this unit met us upon our arrival and was very nice and helpful in showing us the highlights of the unit even going so far as to review the operation of the TV. The included Wifi worked very well and the speed was more than adequate for streaming video. The pictures on the website don't depict the new living room furniture that has been recently added to this unit. We really felt like this was our home away from home for what seemed like too brief of a stay in paradise and would recommend this unit to other couples or families. The location of the resort is also very central for accessing other locations on the island. Mahalo.

Great family vacation spot.

Enjoyed the beautiful beach and ocean view. Kids loved the pool. Condo has lots of room never felt like we were on top of each other.

Awesome view of the beach from the Lanai

The property is beautiful and very quiet. Just the place to spend the vacation of a lifetime. The rental is beautifully decorated and the beds are super comfortable. New owners have made some very needed furniture replacements. The location is great to get anywhere you want quickly. Five stars for sure! Service from staff was great.

It was like moving into my home I had saved years

This did not feel like a rental property. It was mine and everything I would have wanted and done is here. Everyone around made you felt like you were part of them for years. It is an area that is central to all of Maui. One of the many things we enjoyed the most was BBQ ing at the pool area and becoming fiends to everyone there. Now we didn't look forward to finding a restaurant but getting a meal to BBQ that would take longer to enjoy the people. The place is clean, updated and as I would want as my own

Our first choice when we return to maui

Clean, well kept, every thing we needed was there, eg: washer dryer, pot pans, BBQ, towels. We loved the location, grounds and pool was very clean always. Friendly and helpful staff. It was nice and quiet, no party’s that we could hear. Parking was great always plenty of parking.

Beautiful Beachfront Condo

We stayed in #535 and enjoyed it very much. The condo was very clean and the views at all times were lovely. This condo provides beautiful panoramic views of the ocean enjoyed along with wonderful breezes common to the island. The pool area is very nice and there are plenty of activities to be enjoyed. We liked that you can arrange day trips or excursions through the travel office located right on the premises. The only downside was lack of communication between resort and renters. We would suggest all information that is needed be displayed in one location like on kitchen counter top. Unit 535 was very nice, but sectional splits apart when trying to lie on it to read or watch TV, the stove exterior and door needed a good cleaning. The building, however, is in need of pressure washing or maybe painting. But while the building itself needs sprucing up, the unit we stayed in was very nice.

Can't recommend it

The description noted is accurate - there is a stellar view, exceptional beach, pool, hot tub etc. In unit amenities mostly accurate though 'luxury linens' is quite a stretch. Sugar Beach resort is poorly maintained and in need of paint and exterior walkway cleaning etc. This unit, in particular, is quite shabby and in need of much TLC and attention. The interior carpets and the exterior lanai carpet are gross - a weekly vacuum touch up is not nearly enough!! All furniture is old and pretty uncomfortable. In a nut shell, anything that nature has provided (beach, view, sunsets etc) is great. That which is provided or managed by this owner and management company has been severely neglected for who knows how long. I can not, in good conscience, recommend this to anyone, in it's current state.

Since your stay the property has taken many steps to improve its guest areas and landscaping; this includes new paint, railing replacement and renovation to the BBQ and pool areas. As well, and under new ownership, in June 2013 unit #535 completed a total renovation and is not the same condo you stayed in before. The unit has all new furniture including beds, new stainless steel appliances, granite counters in the kitchen and bathrooms and new cabinets, new tile flooring and a fun and fabulous decor! We invite you and your family to return and see it for yourself. Alii Resorts strives to help create your dream vacation, and we feel that Sugar Beach #535 can do just that! Mahalo
