Lakefront Ferienhaus On Lake Thurmond

We have two cameras so you can see the front and back of the house for security reasons. We live one hour away and until recently our neighbors were not full time occupants either, There are ABSOLUTELY no cameras inside OR outside looking in windows. How rediculous! Several years ago,we had two huge trees to blow uphill in a freak wind storm. They knocked the porch off the house...another foot and they wounld have been in the house. It was after that, that we installed the cameras. When it is stormy we are able to visualize our property without traveling there. Check in time is 4:00pm, they texted several times saying they were running late. Then around 7:30pm they requested I leave a key under the front mat. As for the Rental Agreement-we send everyone a RA. We ask guests to sign and return prior to rental. If we have not received it by date of rental, we take a copy for them to review and sign at check in. Nothing earth shattering - it lists # of guests, restates the house rules and it tells of the set up- what is provided. We started this so guests would know what to expect and encourage them to contact us if they have questions prior to their rental. It also became necessary because the allowed number of guests was being abused...say there are 6 guests arriving and actually there are 12 that arrive. We have been renting for over 9 years with VRBO and this is the first time I have had such mean and false review.

I am glad you enjoyed your visit at Thanksgiving. I do apologize that the table was not on the back porch. It was removed recently and I am currently searching for a replacement. It was an oversight that this information was not removed from the VRBO web site. We do not allow fires for the simple reason of safety. We are in an area of the lake that is primarily hardwoods and dry leaves and fire do not mix. While the hardwoods add to the beauty of our lot, fires can be dangerous especially in the fall with dry leaves falling. We are vigilant about keeping the leaves up - but they do continue to fall! We ALWAYS blow/rake prior to each guests arrival. No candles for safety too. Too easy to leave out of house or retire to bed without extinguishing. I do allow use of insert. The lake house is 14 miles from Lincolnton (and Bell’s grocery) and as you mentioned the very nice large Ingles in Elberton is a little further. Many of our guests shop as they are on the way or before leaving home also. I do not consider us “isolated”. We have neighbors on both sides and all along the road as you turn into the development-Fishing Creek Estates. The draw is the lake…fishing, boating, swimming, family time.
