There was no interaction with the host. The place was nice and clean. The beds were wonderful. However, the downstairs bathroom had no shampoo or conditioner. The water pressure was not good at all downstairs. The covers on the couch and oversized chairs were torn and need to be replaced. the cables and the electrical wires for the tv ran across the top of the sliding glass door blinds. The refrigerator was spotless inside but definitely needs a new door on the outside.. the wiring under the desk was a tangled mess. Checking In-N-Out could be more convenient by not having to go downtown to check in and back downtown to check out.. most vrbo’s that we have used have a code and we use that to get in and out. Spending a little more money to get this place dialed in would help to give this home a 5. Very nice neighborhood and neighbors.

Ant attack and needs updates. Disappointed in elements of this stay. The good: Great location in Marine Terrace. Glimpses of the ocean from the living room. Adequate kitchen supplies for light dining. Comfortable large beds for our two adults and two teen daughters. The bad: horrible ant attack. Noticed some when checking in late the first night. By morning two they had infiltrated our groceries and we had to throw away many things we brought. Called the weekend service and they said there wasn't much they could do. I asked for traps or pest service to be called and they told me to call back in two days on Monday... Upon calling they then told me they would see if someone could come on Monday but they usually came on Tuesdays. Luckily they were able to send someone to spray inside the house and the ants were finally gone by Wednesday...just in time for us to check out! Overall, the TV set up in living room was really weird with cords hanging across room. Carpet was stained and some places missing pieces - didn't feel very clean. And furniture covers like living room couch and chair was ripped. Burned out lightbulbs on front of house, porch and multiple in living room. Overall not the best after many other stays in the area.

Quiet neighborhood at the beach

The rental was a bit better than described in other reviews. The living room furniture had been covered and looked nicer and the bedding had been updated. Kitchen had what we needed to make dinner in the house two of our nights. Great walks to view the coastline just down the street. Check in and out was contactless and easy. Very comfortable stay.

We really enjoyed our stay. The property was super clean as described. The proximity to the ocean is great. Just a block or two And 3 or 4 blocks to the preserve right on the ocean with nice hiking trails. Very quiet and peaceful. The only slightly negative was the oven was not clean and the gas bbq was not useable. Otherwise I highly recommend this place. The manager was nice and easy to work with. We would definitely go back.

Perfectly Quiet Space For A Couple

I come to Camria every year for my birthday and this was my second rental with Scenic Coast. The home was dated but very clean, stocked and perfect. The upstairs shower was lovely, although I could get the window open to ventilate. It wasn't that serious. The living room TV sounds like the speakers are going out and the top window made it hard to watch in the day time. I loved the chair and a half, the balcony and the bed was so comfy. I always bring paper towels and toilet paper but the home was nicely stocked. I had the best stay. I recommend this home and Scenic Coast!!

Upstairs TV is complicated and does not work with ease. Needs to be updated considerably to operate more smoothly. If Cambria is as short on water as they claim? EVERY rental there; including this one; needs to REPLACE ALL dates bathroom & kitchen hardware to low flow - PERIOD. Kit. sink dripped & you had to fool with it to turn it off. Showerheads were definitely not low flow.

A Shell Along the Sea

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This property, from the outside, looks quite impressive and even inviting. But, once inside, and we knew this from the pictures before we rented, it becomes quite clear how long it’s been since anyone has given care and attention to this “home.” I don’t know how much money the owners are making from renting it out but one can guess—based on what we paid—it’s more than a little. Therefore, it’s a little difficult to understand why it’s likely been decades, literally, since the interior was updated in any way. It seems the most concern has recently been given to having a gigantic TV in the main room that you’ll not be able to use because there’s no instructions and it’s not really even hooked up to anything. While the location is indeed quite good, I would caution anyone from staying here and dealing with copious shag carpet, tired furniture, very depressing bathrooms, a barely functioning kitchen, decrepit light fixtures, broken-down blinds, and the list goes on. Yes, we knew what we were getting into but oh my!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Snuck away for the weekend with my sister and the kids and it was perfect for what we were looking for. It's so expensive to travel now, that we really just wanted a clean and spacious home as our home base as we adventured around the area. To be honest, we were expecting it to be worse than it was due to the images online and some of the reviews, but it was actually quite nice. The decor is dated, but we didn't mind that. We were right near the beach {5 min walk}, in a quiet neighborhood off the beaten track. It's a cute little beach town with some older homes and some newer renovated homes. Just as you would expect in an old beach town. 5 min drive to downtown Cambria. All the basics in the kitchen were available, including a fresh bag of ice in the freezer. We hit the grocery store upon arrival and brought some of our own food and spices. You may want to bring some of the basic parishables, as i believe most are leftover from previous stays, so you may not have what you need. BBQ onsite with coals in the kitchen for your use. Laundry onsite, etc. Very easy contactless check-in. The service is very spotty, so you may not have access to calls, but they do offer a local landline for emergencies and local needs. 2G wifi wasn't the strongest, but we were there to escape, so if anything that helped. It was great for our small little families. Will visit again!

Nice area, technology challenged but easy to fix

We stayed during a CA heat wave that was great to be in the cool on the coastline. The good: cool, quiet neighborhood, great walks, instant hot water. Near some great spots and eateries. Decent Wifi. The bad: stuffy, poor cable, no ice, poor cell service, old school check in. Bring some groceries with you, nearest big grocery store is 30 minutes away. Weber grill stored on upper wood deck (not a good idea to charcoal near wooden walls and decks in tight space). Small propane grill would be safer and more convenient. There are very easy fixes to resolve. But why aren't these easy fixes made? It takes several steps/minutes to just watch minimal cable (I found instructions on small postit note in desk that former renter left behind) Hand full of channels. Add two $1 ice trays, add floor or box fans to circulated air at night. Large window screens on front deck can't be secured while open at night. Some blinds need replacement and some windows stuck shut. No easy remote check in codes or combo lock at rental. Must go to town to use old style lock box and get documents and keys to enter unit (also renters have access to all other renters keys at the same time?) DirecTV dish mounted but not used (was at one time). No cell service near neighborhood so use online maps. This unit charges a premium price and some simple fixes would greatly improve the value of this rental. It is a great place to experience all of the sights nearby. Hope we can return with these easy fixes.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was very clean and well appointed. We experienced a power outage, unavoidable however the flashlights provided did not work and had corroded batteries. The batteries for the thermostat were old and the heat did not work the house was freezing 59 degrees. Maintenance man came and fixed the problem. He had to change outlets in the garage because the one being used did not work. the lock on the front door is very stiff and hard to open. The price of $225 per night sounded good until you add several fees and taxes bring the cost to $798 for two nights almost $400 per night.Beautiful ocean view but far away from Cambria. The home is well maintained if not for the battery problems it would be at least a 4 star rating. I would recommend this property if these issues are addressed. Beautiful neighborhood.

The neighbors we did see were all nice and friendly. Loved the big windows in living room because they brought in lots of nice light. There was lots of fog - so no ocean view from the house. It looks like on clear days there is a small patch of ocean visible. The kitchen was well stocked and set up nicely. The bed firm but comfortable. Loved being so close to the ocean trail at Fiscalini Ranch Reserve — wonderful for morning and evening walks to see beautiful coast. We will definitely consider renting this home again.
