Welcome to Doorway to the Desert:  a luxury home expertly designed by locally-renowned architect Steven DeChristopher. The home is tucked away in the upscale Skyline neighborhood of Desert Hot Springs, CA. Whether you’re in the area to explore the naturally occurring hot springs, Palm Springs, Joshua Tree, Coachella, golf, casinos, or just to get away; we welcome you to stay with us!  

The moment you enter the property you’ll feel excited and relaxed at the same time. A lot of thought and clever thinking went into its bespoke design.

The quality of construction, 12’-14’ ceilings, abundant natural light, resort-style pool, and stunning views all contribute to an effect of feeling larger than its square footage would indicate. Oversized windows and doors capture expansive views of the private pool, Mount San Jacinto, and the famous windmills of the San Gorgonio Pass. It's almost like the desert is inviting you to come out and enjoy all the beauty it has to offer.

There is plenty of private parking in the large driveway. Street parking is allowed, but not recommended. Uber, Lyft, and Door Dash are readily available as well.

- 2 Dogs Allowed up to 40 lbs, Dog Fee Applies, No Cats or Other Animals - Any Damages or Issues Caused by Pets are Entirely the Guests Responsibility

- Try to Use the Dog Run for Potty Breaks, Hose Down After Urinating So You Don't Smell Pee While Swimming or Outdoor Dining, and Use Waste Station to Throw Away Poo

- Children Should Always Be Monitored in the Pool Area and Should Never be Left Unattended

- Quiet Hours From 10 PM to 7 AM

- No Excessive Partying, Measured with Occupancy Sensor and Active Sound Decibel Monitor (Does Not Record Audio or Video)

- No Unplugging WiFi, Any Connection Issues Will be Addressed Immediately

- No Diving, Pool is Shallow

- No Climbing Walls, Gates, or Fences; It’s Dangerous and There is Always a Better Way to Move Around the Property

- No Accessing Pool Equipment, If There is an Issue Please Notify Us and We’ll Have it Serviced ASAP

- No Glass in the Pool Area, There is Plenty of Acrylic Drinkware Available

- All Cars Must Park in Driveway

- Smoking is Only Permitted in the Designated Smoking Area on the Driveway

- Vapes are allowed in the Pool Area as Well as the Smoking Area, but NOT in the House

- If Anything is Stained or Breaks Please Let Us Know Immediately, We Understand Things Happen and Want to Fix the Issue ASAP so Future Guests Have an Amazing Experience

- This Rule Applies to Life Everywhere, but Especially Here Since We’re on a Septic Tank: DO NOT FLUSH ANYTING OTHER THAN TOILET PAPER AND NATURAL WASTE DOWN THE TOILETS

Enjoying various parts of the desert

My husband and I spent a few days in Palm Springs and then wished for a quieter vibe for our remaining days that would be closer to Joshua Tree as we had a climbing and hiking excursion planned. In addition to the location, this property was absolutely lovely and well appointed...private and spacious and was comfortably luxurious. Israel was so pleasant and attentive in any of our communications. We so appreciated the details of how to use/find items to make our stay more seamless. The rooms, decor, fully stocked kitchen and lovely poolside made this location and our stay a true pleasure.

Inspired by masterpieces of mid-century architecture

There we were, in Desert Hot Springs, situated a bit off the beaten track in the north of Palm Springs, in itself a typical town in the desert valley, but actually the origin of the settlement around the Palm Springs area, because hot and cold mineral springs were discovered here early on. Comfort very close to the only seemingly barren desert! The house: Inspired by masterpieces of mid-century architecture - that was our impression - very comfortable but technically up to date, we were able to enjoy the large pool, the hot tub and the house in a relaxed atmosphere - there was plenty of opportunity for conversation, reflection and relaxation! The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed - and a Sonos sound system! Israel and Tim were always available quickly and helpfully for questions and help: We can only recommend it!

Lovely home

Our family really enjoyed this beautiful home. It was very clean, exactly as expected, just like the pictures showed, easy to find. Very secure and wonderful amenities. The owners were very easy to work with and very responsive. The beds were comfy, the kitchen and bathroom well Stocked. We will definitely be back!
