Located just outside the heart of Kailua- Kona, this ocean front condo is your ticket to paradise! Just minutes from town, a short walk will take you to some of the finest dining and shopping destinations on the Big Island. Our modern, updated condo serves as the perfect home away from home, allowing our guests to enjoy everything the Big Island has to offer.

After a full day of snorkeling, beach combing, hiking, volcano exploring or just relaxing in the sun, return home to kick back and relax on the private lanai with a full ocean front view. Watch sea turtles swim in the tide pools below or see humpback whales and dolphins frolic in the ocean as the sun dips into the sea, creating breathtaking sunsets.

The unit is air conditioned throughout, with separate zone controls for the living room and bedroom. With a lanai that directly overlooks the ocean, you need not be concerned about noise from the pool and cabana area. The only sound you’ll hear is the waves as they crash against the expansive reef. Our top floor location also ensures the utmost privacy and security for the lanai area.

We have taken care to provide a variety of recreational items for your use and enjoyment including:

Need a break from your vacation? The complex is adjacent to Honl's beach and our unit comes with a fully equipped kitchen, access to popular streaming services, with BBQ grills, a pool and hot tub on site. A washer and dryer is provided for your convenience.

Our condo is ideal for a romantic getaway for two, though the sleeper sofa will allow up to four guests. The bathroom has a walk-in shower with no bathtub, so the unit may not be suitable for families with very young children that require a tub for bathing.

There is an elevator on site, but a set of stairs must be navigated to reach units on the top floor, so it may not be suitable for guests with accessibility concerns. No smoking and no pets allowed.

***The Kona Reef has notified owners that there is going to be a Structure and Resurfacing project to repair areas of compromised spalling, water damage and corrosion due to continuous exposure to water and sea air from January 2026 to April 2027. I have blocked our unit from rentals during the actual period D building is scheduled to be worked on. The pool/cabana area will not be affected, aside from noise. If you choose to book during this timeframe, be aware that there may be extraneous noise from construction in the complex.***

Just perfect! The space was quiet, clean, and very well appointed with a fully stocked kitchen and beach gear. The bed was so comfortable! We loved sitting on the lanai to watch the sunset and listen to the sounds of waves crashing below. The pool area was never crowded and the grills in the common area were spotless. Parking was easy and the location was convenient.The only issue we had was a problem with a faulty kitchen appliance and it was resolved in less than 24 hours. We were very impressed with the level of responsiveness. The communication ahead of our visit was great too, absolutely no complaints. Highly recommend this location for your next visit to the Kona area!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kona Reef. This unit is oceanfront and it can't get better than that. The bed was very comfortable, the unit had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The 2 split AC units were the beat as it would have been too warm for us without it. The unit was in walking distance of local restaurants and shops. The communication was almost immediate, when needed with the owner. We have stayed in many VRBO units and this unit "ticks" all our boxes. We will definitely return here and hopefully soon. Pretty and convenient!

The location of this Vrbo was absolutely perfect. Close enough we could walk around to shop on Ali’i drive. And it was amazing to be right on the ocean front. Perfect spot for a couples getaway!

My husband and I booked a vacation over spring break for my birthday. We looked at SO MANY rentals and ultimately decided on this one. We absolutely made the right choice! The view of the beach from the lanai is stunning and we began and ended each day sitting outside relaxing. You are in walking distance to several delicious restaurants and the Kona shopping area. We had a rental car and did a lot of exploring of the island. Parking was always easy coming back to the condo. The pool area is also very nice with grills and plenty of space. The condo itself is clean and equipped with everything you might need. I would definitely recommend to friends and family in the future. Did I mention the sunsets??? OMGrelaxing.

We had an amazing time at the Kona Reef in our ocean front unit. The views were spectacular! We enjoyed the sunset everyday from our lanai as well as watching for dolphins and whales. The unit was well decorated and stocked We especially liked the closet full of beach necessities such as chairs, cooler and umbrellas. The pool and BBQ area was wonderful and we hope to one day return and rent this beautiful unit again.

The unit is as advertised and the other reviews were spot on. We appreciated all the beach gear left in the unit for guests. The bed was very comfortable and the unit simple but very clean and cozy. Tisha answered every question or request within minutes. This was a great home base to comeback to after a day of exploration and beach time. We’ll be back!

35th Anniversary / Thanksgiving Retreat

Great accommodations for two people. Incredible views, perfect for watching the sunset, the only thing to obstruct your view is coconut trees. The soothing sound of the ocean made for perfect sleeping conditions. We saw whales breeching and spinner dolphins from the balcony. Kitchen is well equipped, grounds are very well kept, bbq grills were extremely clean and operated perfectly. Pool and jacuzzi were clean and available. Never had a problem with parking. It's a very easy walk to downtown Kona. We'll be back

Beautiful property and view

I would 100% stay here again, the property was comfortable with a beautiful view. Loved opening the lanai doors and hearing the ocean. The bed was extremely comfortable and at night it was fairly quiet. There is a little street noice, but I always bring ear plugs. Luckily there was a blow up mattress for my son. He is tall and the pull out sofa bed was not comfortable for his long frame. Overall great experience, thanks!

Everything was wonderful. AC- window unit and noisy and only cools the living room.

Wonderful. Felt like we were wasting a ton of electricity- cooling the living room when we weren’t there- so the bedroom would be cool enough for sleeping. Next upgrade- a split mini is wonderful. Have used them in other units- quiet, cool (or heat) beautifully, and I suspect reduce the electric bill significantly.

Wonderful Spot for a Stay in Kona

My wife and I were here for a long-awaited second honeymoon. The place was perfect. The hosts communicated very well. The accommodations were very clean and comfortable and gave us freedom to do our own cooking and even laundry as needed. The bed was soft and the living room furniture comfy. The AC was a godsend in the Kona humidity, the shower head was perfect in terms of pressure and the WiFi worked well. The pool area was clean and the pool always seemed to be just a degree or two on the cool side, which I love. Parking was convenient, easy and felt safe. But, the star of the show was the view. The sunset was appointment viewing each night and drew crowds of Kona Reef guests to the rocks that line the shore. The sound of the waves crashing in the morning and evening was amazing and going outside to see the surfers, parasailers, fishing boats and canoes go back and forth was fun. We even saw crabs on the rocks and yellow and black fish in the little cove in front of the complex every morning. The icing on the cake was that the price is competitive or better than resorts we have stayed at on the big island and the room and view was much better. A couple of tips while in the Kona area: Spend a day at Spencer Beach using the beach chairs, umbrella and cooler the hosts put in the closet, have a steak or fish meal at Huggo’s and check out the Big Island in a Day tour from Wasabi Tours.(See if you can ask for Felix as your guide).
