Dear Marianne, I am the owner of the Saltbox and appreciate your very detailed review. It has always been our goal to maintain our 5/5 ranking and we find it very disappointing that you did not enjoy your stay. We have maintained an excellent reputation over the past 10 years welcoming guests from all over the world. I will address each of your concerns as we take this very seriously. 1. The prior home owners from your last stay sent you an overview on amenities, appliances etc. Each guests is sent our 10 page welcome letter that clearly outlines all amenities, opening/ closing procedures, area description, FAQ's etc. We ask that all guests read this very carefully and to bring it with them to refer to throughout their stay and ensure they feel welcome in our cottage. 2. You had some difficulty in opening the door. Our welcome letter clearly outlines how to lock and unlock our door. We have never had any guest face issues with this door as it is only 1 year old. We promptly sent our property manager to assist. 3. You had mentioned to us that your feet had become wet while walking from your car to the house. The distance between the parking area to the front door is approx. 20 feet. We apologize if you did become wet. Due to the front of the house being grass, along with heavy rain, occasionally feet could become wet. 4. Cold house. As defined in our welcome letter, we have baseboard heaters in every room that can be manually controlled. In the future, we will make sure that our property manager turns up the heat so that it is comfortable. 5. No Firewood. On the day of arrival, our property manager was not available and so we suggested that a 5 minute drive up the road would produce firewood as all local stores sell firewood. Moving forward, we will ensure that there is always a small starter pack of firewood for your comfort. 6. BBQ with no propane tank. We truly apologize for this inconvenience as our procedure is to always make sure there is 1 propane tank with a full back up. This was our error and will never occur again in the future. 7. Uncomfortable furniture on deck. We immediately replaced everything with 4 new Adirondack/ Muskoka chairs, new patio table and chairs. I am confident that all future guests will continue to enjoy our incredible view. I truly apologize that you did not experience an enjoyable vacation. We take all reviews very seriously and hope that our responses have clearly addressed all of your concerns.

Hi John, Thank you very much for the wonderful review, we are so glad you and your wife had a great vacation, and we would love to have you come stay with us again! We have updated our description portion to inform future guests that although the staircase was left to reflect the 125 years of wear marks of generations past, they are in fact, a little steep.
