Great place for a quick stay
The place was very clean and perfect for what we were looking for! The only issues we ran into was the WiFi not working (which was something noted in the listing that it may/may not work) and the upstairs being 80 degrees despite the AC unit downstairs. We had to sleep on the couch the first night since downstairs was much cooler. A guest also had issues trying to contact the cabin to be let into the gate so I had to walk there in the middle of the night when they arrived to let them in but thankfully there was a bit of phone service so they could let me know.

Hi Jamie: Thank you for the great review for family Cabin #78! We are delighted to hear that you had an enjoyable stay, and that you found the cabin to be "very clean and perfect for what (you) were looking for". Yep, the wifi out here in our rural wooded mountain area leaves a lot to be desired. Fortunately, the service provider is currently working on the installation of new fiber optics, so things are looking up for the future. Unfortunately, the work is very disruptive, and we have been experiencing more issues than usual, including periodic phone service outages, until things get done. The a/c will absolutely run you out of the first floor, but doesn't reach the second floor very well during particularly hot days. That's where the portable fan comes in, to direct the cooler up over the loft and into the sleeping area. Thank you for the exceptionally clean and tidy way in which you left the cabin upon departure. It was truly a pleasure hosting you, and we look forward to seeing you again during your next visit to the Mt. Baker area :) Happy trails, Dan

Cute Cabin
Check in process was easy. Directions were perfect. Cabin was clean. A little too warm upstairs during the day, even with air on but cooled off at evening time for sleeping.

Nice location. Updated kitchen, but a lot of empty drawers. No wine opener. No foil or plastic wrap. Limited toilet paper. Limited supplies in general.Loft extremely hot and unusable for sleeping in summer. Floors very uneven. Bathroom door has a funky latch and will not stay closed unless latched.Nice outdoor area with two tables.

Hi Steven: Thank you for your review for family Cabin #78. We are delighted to hear that you found the cabin to provide you with an "updated kitchen". It's important to remember that this is a very inexpensive country "cabin". To keep it inexpensive, the emphasis is on comfortable furnishings and not a lot of foo foo. As such, a basic supply of toilet paper, sundries, and spices/condiments, etc., is provided. When planning your trip, it is always a very good idea to plan ahead by bringing additional items that you may need or want during your stay. After all, the cabin is rented as a cabin, and not as a restaurant or a personal supply warehouse. Many thanks for the reasonably neat and tidy way in which you left the cabin upon departure. Happy trails, Dan

This review would be all five stars except for two (very fixable) things that lowered the rating:1) There was no wifi or cell service at the property. This would normally be just fine - I mean, we stayed here to get away! - except that we had no heads-up about this until we picked up our key. My spouse and I were staying in Glacier for our wedding, and the lack of communication made it very challenging to coordinate with our families. If we had known that wifi and phone comms were out before we arrived, then we could have planned out a communication strategy beforehand.2) Mice. Lots of them. Our first night staying in the cabin, I was awakened by a skittering sound in the kitchen and, over the course of about 10 minutes, I saw five mice running around the kitchen and living room. After a largely sleepless night, I called the next day and the staff kindly came out to place traps. But for the rest of our stay, we turned fans on at nighttime to drown out the sounds of the mice downstairs (I never saw one upstairs in the bedroom, thankfully) and we observed mouse droppings accumulate in the kitchen over our stay, so we know they were still there. My wife and I are chill, and I would not have mentioned the above if the staff had offered some kind of compensation or even responded with a tone (or preferably actions) that suggested that they cared. But other than the trap setting - which we appreciated! - we have received no communication, apology, or compensation offer.

Hi John: Well, that's a pretty harsh review. Let's take a moment to put this into prospective; wifi and telephone service in our rural wooded mountain area is prone to failure, and it appears to have failed during your stay. This should come as no surprise however, as a full paragraph is included on the listing that defines wifi expectations: "OTHER IMPORTANT NOTES:
**Wi-Fi Internet and streaming services access are complimentary self-serve. The mountains have been known to have power disruptions a few times a year, and no guarantees, representations, or technical assistance is available with respect to coverage or device settings. No abatement, set-off, or discount of rent shall be provided in the event Wi-Fi or streaming services are unavailable. If that happens, consider enjoying an old-fashioned book by the fire!". Yes, unfortunately mice and shrews are an ongoing issue in our heavily wooded mountain area. This summer has been no exception, and they have definitely been more prevalent this season. We were glad to have been of assistance when you reached out to let us know, and glad that this mitigated the problem. We also offered to move you to a different property, but you declined. In summary, we would like to give you a 5-star rating, but there were two things that lowered the rating: 1) you didn't take the time to read the property description beforehand, so that you could have had a heads-up regarding connectivity in our area, and 2) you chose not to move.
