Mixed experience. Winter stay not recommended. The house itself was roomy. Our visit was in winter and we had several issues: water was running brown and needed to run for a bit before it was usable. The driveway was not fully plowed so parking was limited. Steep hill access roads are not well maintained and when it snowed they were very slippery. But the worst was the lack of heat. The furnace stopped working on our second day, and we woke to 59 degrees inside. We were traveling with my 91-year-old Dad, in town for my brother’s funeral, and Dad needed the day to rest before traveling home. When we contacted the host, she said that everyone was having trouble because of the cold and confirmed that there was no alternative heat source. We ended up having to leave a day early.

Weekend Stay

The Treehouse at Lake Hayward has been an amazing place to stay! I have stayed at this property on more than one occasion and the host has been nothing shy of accommodating and welcoming. The home itself and neighborhood is very accurate to the listing online and had everything we needed! Would definitely recommend to friends/family and absolutely stay at this property again.

My family really enjoyed staying at this property in Lake Hayward. The rooms were spacious & had adorable theming. House was not a far walk from the lake. Appreciated the high chair & pack n play. Owner was very responsive!

Cute little getaway

We stayed at Allison’s house to attend my brothers wedding in Haddom, so unfortunately we didn’t get to enjoy all the amenities around the house. However, the house was perfect for myself, husband and two small children (1 & 3). Allison’s house had everything we needed for our baby and the bedroom and bathrooms downstairs were perfect for our nanny to use, while my family utilized the upstairs bedrooms and bathroom. The house was clean and I’m a quiet neighborhood- we hope to return next summer to enjoy the lake!

Weekend getaway!

This property and home exceeded my expecations by a million! The house was clean and every room was well stocked and decorated. There were plenty of towels, linens, soap in the showers, basics in the kitchen, and even fun games and sporting equipment available. The space was well-suited for a bigger group. The only possible inconvenience was the location as far as how far away it was from any stores and ubers. That being said, once we were there, it was nice to be near the lake and the neighborhood was great! The host also made sure we had all of the information we needed for check in and check out and responded very quickly. Overall, an amazing stay for a great price.

The house is spacious and comfortable, well supplied for a vacationing family. The younger folks particularly enjoyed time in the lake. We also found several nearby hiking trails. I am happy to recommend it to others.

The home is very modern and clean. The area is quiet. Communication with the property manager was top notch...she responded to my questions ASAP. My only suggestion is that a curtain should perhaps be placed at the back sliding door. But overall nice stay.

Adorable House

We had a fantastic visit to the area and enjoyed this property. Very clean, well decorated with many thoughtful additions by the property owner. The house was also stocked with essentials including coffee, basic spices, Ziploc bags, soaps, etc which it's not often the case for VRBO rentals! The owner also sent some really nice information in an email which was really helpful for getting to know the area. Beds are very comfortable! Highly recommend.

What a transformation and jewel this house has become! We loved the wooded location and proximity to the lake.
It was so fun designing as every surface needed refinishing. This house received a full transformation from dark and dingy to light and fun. The treehouse is one of our favorites places to stay when the whole family is in town. We love the friendliness of the neighbors and all the activities at the lake.

Lake Hayward is one of the cleanest lakes in CT. No gas motors are allowed on the lake as it is well protected by this community. With the 3 beaches, activities at the club house, playground, basketball, tennis courts and volleyball there's no shortage of things to do. There is a public golf course and winery right in town. A few of my favorite things are visiting The Cold Spring farm. A quaint honor system farm stand right at the top of the lake. I also love the fantastic hiking at Devil's Hopyard, the falls are beautiful. Make sure to visit Mystic Seaport while you're in town and for the adults, Mohegan Sun.
