Welcome to Edelweiss Cabin, a charming mountain retreat on eight secluded acres of woods, stream and meadow, conveniently located near ski resorts and town life in Roxbury, N.Y.

This open-concept log home is the best of both worlds: With its hand-stripped log pillars and antique accents, Edelweiss feels like it's always been perched on the edge of this serene woodland clearing. Yet its new construction – completed in 2021 – includes these modern conveniences:

Edelweiss is perfect for anyone looking for a rustic hideaway. It can be a spacious nest for a romantic respite for two, a cozy retreat for a family, or an affordable weekend getaway for a small group.

There are three private bedrooms: two with queen beds, the other with a full-size bed and en-suite bathroom. The loft bedroom includes a daybed with trundle; its bottom mattress can pop up to create a full-plus-size bed.

The cabin's floor-to-ceiling insulation and heated floors will keep you comfy in all seasons. On the chilliest nights, fire up the wood stove. Firewood is complimentary.

On summer evenings, our favorite spot is the covered front porch, where hummingbirds zoom by every few minutes to alight on the many hummer-friendly plants and feeders. Raise a glass, and drink along.

Edelweiss Cabin is short drive to all the Catskill ski areas, including Belleayre, Hunter Mountain, Plattekill and Windham.

Cozy Cabin in the Woods

This beautiful log cabin is immaculately clean, so comfortable, and equipped with everything needed for an entertaining and/or quiet time. A great find! The chalet is very cute and has everything. The owners were very attentive and baked a cake for us and there were drinks in the fridge and coffee, etc. We felt very welcome. We will definitely come back!!

Holiday Escape

We had a wonderful relaxing stay at Edelweiss over the 4th of July weekend. The weather was a little iffy, but the cabin was perfect! We stayed in a lot, but ventured to the store in Margaretville, had a nice lunch at Bun N Cone, hiked at Palmer Hill Trail and stopped into Roxbury General. Thank you for all the goodies you left, but especially for sharing your lovely cabin with us!

Excellent. Beautiful newly renovated cabin. Very clean, close to Belleayre Mountain. Hosts went above and beyond to make us welcome, with Special extra touches like water by side of beds, fresh baked cake to welcome us, hot tub set up and ready to enjoy. Had fun playing games and enjoying the beautiful property. One of the nicest homes we stayed in through VRBO.

Beautiful Cabin in the woods

I can not say enough good things about this place. The cabin is just beautiful. The owners gave a wealth of information and was excellent at communicating and responding back to me quickly. The property was quiet and secluded. The hot tub was perfect, clean and well kept. The owners provided some food and even a beautiful cake for a treat. If your looking for a family retreat where you can just be with your family and unplug... this is the perfect place to be. Highly recommend and we will definitely be booking again in the future.

Wonderful, relaxing cabin in the Catskills!

My husband and I were looking for a nice, quiet relaxing stay to get away from the hustle and bustle of everything for a few days. This place more than delivered! There was everything we would have needed and more at this cabin, and the hosts were very responsive to any questions we had during our stay. It was a short drive into town if we needed anything at the general store, and there were a couple nice places to eat in town as well. We made the 30 min drive to visit the Hobart Book village, and went for a walk on the trail nearby there, too! The hot tub and fireplace were both easy to maintain, and you can tell the owners take great care to keep the cabin clean & organized. We so enjoyed seeing any wildlife, especially the cows on the nearby farm that we would see to and from the cabin!We are already looking forward to our next stay here. Thank you so much!

Catskill adventure

Exactely as advertized, and then some! Quiet setting, very comfortable furnishings, and wonderful applicances and electronics. Plus several unexpected welconing gifts. After a day out exploring the beautiful Catskill area the cabin was like coming home. No issues or problems at all, great time and visit.

Impeccable cabin for a relaxing getaway

We had a great stay at this well appointed, and impeccably clean, cabin. No detail was forgotten (water, treats, chargers, firewood, etc.) and you felt welcomed as soon as you walked in. The location is private and allows you to enjoy nature and all of the amenities the property offers. It's a good basecamp to explore other areas within the catskills but not it's approx 20 min to any nearby town. The hot tub was top notch. We didn't use the firepit but maybe next time! Overall, we had a wonderful stay and are looking forward to booking again in the future.

Simply Amazing.

I can't say enough good things about this wonderful home. I would award six stars if allowed. I don't normally write reviews but our experience at Edelweiss was so exceptional I felt compelled to share. Literally everything about the cabin and property was perfect and exactly as described. Fred and Denise provide for everything! The cabin was incredibly clean and we immediately felt comfortable. The owners reached out with emails and text messages and ensured they walked us through everything about the property. The property was so peaceful and beautiful. It was the perfect family retreat. We sat by the wood-burning stove, played cards and games, watched TV, soaked in the amazing hot tub, grilled and even chopped wood. We will definitely be coming back and this home may be the start of a new family tradition. Simply amazing. Thank you Denise and Fred!

Ski weekend

The cabin was as pictured in Vrbo. Very clean and comfortable for 4 adults and could have easily accommodated 6. It was very well stocked with everything you need from kitchen supplies, toiletries and welcome package. Beds and mattresses were new and very comfortable. Wood burning stove kept the the home warm. The hot tub is private on the deck and could fit four at a time. The temp of the tub could have been warmer but it was single digits at night. However, 97 degree was adequate for relaxing after a day of skiing. Only 2 concerns for future renters is that the location in the mountains. Since it was winter snow is always an issue. We did get 3 inches of snow during our visit and I would recommend four wheel drive. I had AWD and had no problems. However my son in law had front wheel drive with bad tires and he need a little help getting up the driveway after it snowed. But that was our poor planning. Second I would recommend rain fall shower heads to keep water inside the showers due to only having a glass panel to keep the water in the shower. Overall a super nice stay and better that staying in a home on the mountain at the resorts. I usually do not write much in these reviews but I felt I needed to let the owners and caretakers know how nice their cabin is as well as future guests. I would stay here again.

When he's not building log cabins, Fred is a technology project manager for financial institutions. Denise is a former Newsday editor and columnist who runs a niche book-publishing company.
For our international friends, Denise, whose parents comes from the Dolomites of the Trentino, speaks Italian. (Try her Ladin as well.) Fred, whose parents come from the rural outskirts of Munich, speaks German with a decidedly Bavarian accent.

Fred looked for years for just the right property in the pristine Vega-Denver Valley. Some sites were too soggy, others too steep, still others situated so that they were covered in shadow for most of the day. There are three private bedrooms: two with queen beds, the other with a full-size bed and en-suite bathroom. The loft bedroom includes a daybed with trundle; its bottom mattress can pop up to create a full-plus-size bed.

The cabin’s floor-to-ceiling insulation and heated floors will keep you comfy in all seasons. On the chilliest nights, fire up the wood stove. Firewood is complimentary.

On summer evenings, our favorite spot is the covered front porch, where hummingbirds zoom by every few minutes to alight on the many hummer-friendly plants and feeders. Raise a glass, and drink along.

Edelweiss Cabin is short drive to all the Catskill ski areas, including Belleayre, Hunter Mountain, Plattekill and Windham.
