Private, Guest Favorite Cabin, Fire Pit, Close to Hiking and Downtown Clayton!
Come experience the North Georgia Mountains!
Summer's End is a traditional Appalachian-style cabin on three private acres bordered by a small streams. (Challenge: See if you can locate on our property where the underground stream emerges!)
You’ll be five miles from Historic Downtown Clayton, which features fun shops and award-winning farm-to-market restaurants. Rabun County is known for hundreds of miles of hiking trails, including access to the Appalachian Trail. Your trip can also include kayaking, exploring the over 120 documented waterfalls, fishing, climbing down to Tallulah Gorge, swimming in the pristine lakes, or discovering the countless other ways to experience Rabun County. Highlands, NC is right around the corner if you somehow run out of nature to explore!
Summer's End Cabin is a special place for a family getaway, girls' weekend, or romantic escape.
The space
Check out our Insta for more photos, videos and last minute availability. @summersendcabin
We’d love it if you tag us in photos from your trip, too!
Living Room
Smart TV that allows you to log into your own streaming account, space to lounge around the wood-burning fireplace, a desk to work (if you must). Cathedral ceilings give the place charm and an open feeling.
Wi-Fi supports most functions but might not be as fast as in town. Please be patient. Netflix might load more slowly than you're used to. If it's the SEC Championship and you don't want to risk a delay, we highly recommend Friends in downtown Clayton!
Dining area seats six with additional seating for two at the counter.
Kitchen
We have everything you need to cook throughout your trip; all that’s missing is the chef and the ingredients!
• Brand-new stainless-steel Whirlpool appliances
• Plenty of Pots/Pans/Platters for large meals
• Serving utensils
• Grilling tongs
• Full set of chef knives
• Keurig with complimentary pods
• Oven, stovetop, grill, dishwasher, microwave
• Plates, mugs, glasses, silverware
If you prefer to enjoy the local restaurants instead of cooking, we support that, too and are happy to share some of our favorites.
Bedroom 1
Main floor bedroom has a king bed, a TV, and a full bathroom with a walk-in shower with Schluter shower system. Shower only.
Pro-tip: We have found that this TV is convenient for parents who like to catch up on their favorite shows after their children are tucked into the upstairs sleeping loft.
Bedroom 2
Upstairs bedroom has a king bed and a full bathroom. This is the most private space.
Sleeping Loft
Two twin beds are nestled in the loft overlooking the living room. Our mattresses all get rave reviews for comfort!
Outdoors
A grill and two separate porches allow several outdoor options for enjoying the beauty of the mountains and the company of your loved ones. The side porch features plenty of seating and a comfortable couch for reading, napping, or conversation. We hope that you'll create treasured memories here, as we have!
Our front fire pit is the perfect opportunity for roasting marshmallows and telling campfire stories.
Parking
The privacy of the space is due to Summer's End's perch at the top of a long gravel drive; while it gets a bit slick when it rains you should be fine without 4WD. Parking for up to three cars.
Things to Do
We love North Georgia and sharing recommendations for things to do! Please message us if you have any questions. Downtown Clayton if five minutes up the road and features several amazing restaurants. Highlands, NC is about a 30 minute drive and has multiple options as well. While nature is the area's biggest draw, we also highly recommend the Tiger Drive In (seasonal hours) and the Tallulah Adventure Center.
Location
5 miles to downtown Clayton
11.5 miles to the Dillard House
9.4 miles to Tallulah Gorge State Park
11 miles to Black Rock Mountain State Park
4.7 miles to Chota Falls
9.4 miles to Lake Rabun
KIDS – This is a special cabin for children to explore, just follow basic safety as wildlife is abundant in the area! There are games (board, not video) for children to play and cozy nooks to curl up with a book, and we hope your children create special memories here. We do ask that you include your children in your headcount. While they are absolutely welcome, please note that this space has not been baby proofed.
Guest access
You will have access to the entire house, make yourself at home! We are available to answer any questions and help make your stay a five-star experience. Please reach out if you need anything.
Our house rules are strictly enforced in order to keep Summer's End Cabin a special place for you to visit again and again (we love our many repeat guests!) However, if the house rules are broken, we will ask you to immediately leave with no refund and you will be charged for damage and repairs. Please help us keep this special place in good condition! This includes no animals, no smoking, and general respect for the property.
We are on a SEPTIC TANK - flush only toilet paper or things will get ugly.
INTERNET-Wi-fi is available, and will support most functions like streaming Netflix and Zoom calls. Typical speeds are between 22-28 MBPS. In other words, instead of a movie loading in under 2 seconds at home, it may take a few minutes. Please remember we are in the mountains and be patient if connection is a bit slower than you’re used to. If you have a Very Important Video Meeting or the SEC Championship, consider scheduling it when you aren't at the cabin just to be safe.
SMOKING-No smoking or vaping in the cabin or on the porches. We ask that any smoking or vaping be done in the driveway or at the firepit. Note that we will assess a $200 fee for smoking on any of the porches. They are all wood. It is a fire hazard and the wood absorbs the smell.
PETS - We do not allow any pets. No exceptions. We know you love your dog, cat, or lizard, and we probably would too! Just not as a guest at Summer's End at this time. Please do not lie that you have a service animal, it makes life hard for those who truly rely on them.
If you really need to pet an animal during your stay, know that Rabun County was the site of the largest lack bear sighting in history and visit Dillard Stables! The surrounding farm land is private, please do not approach any cows.
PARTIES – No gatherings at the house. We want you to enjoy your time, but ask that only the guests listed in your reservation enjoy the cabin due to our official occupancy and insurance restrictions. We have a Ring camera (no security cameras inside) and will have to ask you to leave if we see any shenanigans.
GUESTS - See above. Only guests listed on your reservation are welcome. Local restrictions are very strict and unregistered guests are a violation of our license. If guests NOT listed on your reservation are present at any time, you will be immediately asked to leave with no refund AND an additional cleaning fee may be issued.
PARKING - You must park in the driveway. You cannot park on Lovell Lane. It is a one lane road with insufficient space. Please do not try to back out of the driveway. Trust us.
CARE OF PROPERTY - Our cleaning fee goes directly to our cleaning team to ensure that the property is clean and sanitized when you arrive. We ask that you leave it in the condition in which you find it, so please clean up after yourself (of course, we don't expect you to sanitize). This includes not leaving food on the floor, in the beds, or on the table, not using our countertop as a cutting board, and generally treating the space with respect.
Please ensure that your children do not color on the walls, bedding, or furniture or place food on the record player. Please ONLY use woven outdoor blankets outside, all others must remain inside. If you use our hiking stick, please return it.
Things like that. Unfortunately, these have all occurred so now we have to ask.
CHECK-IN and CHECK-OUT - Check-in is 4:00pm EST and Check-out is 10:00am EST. We often have tight turnarounds and need this time to properly prepare the cabin for our next guests. If we are able to accommodate an early or late check-in with prior agreement, a fee will be assessed. Guests will not be allowed to access the property early without prior permission, and guests who are on property after 10:05 will have a fee assessed as access beyond the check-in and check-out time counts as unauthorized access to the property.
Recap
MAX 6 GUESTS (including children), all guests must be included on the reservation. No air mattresses.
NO PETS - We love dogs, we really do, but you gotta leave them at home.
NO PARTIES – Only guests sleeping at the cabin are welcome during your stay.

We are Scott and Colleen and we live in an Atlanta suburb with our five children (four at home and one in college). We love hiking and exploring, and consider a day that ends with us tired, happy, and a little dirty a success. If we aren't outside exploring you'll likely find us reading or on a patio listening to live music!
Rabun County is special to us; it's a place we go to catch our breath and reconnect as a family when life gets overwhelming (and with five kids, it often is!) Our cabin is marinated in special memories and we love being able to share the beauty of North Georgia with others so they can create special memories as well!

Darum fiel die Entscheidung auf diese Unterkunft
We might be biased, but we think Northeast Georgia and its mountains are one of the most beautiful places in the world! And at fall when the trees are all at peak color? It's magical. Surrounded by endless miles of hiking trails, rivers, streams, and state parks there's never a shortage of exploration outdoors. Downtown Clayton (a few miles away) also offers amazing restaurants and shops to wind down the long day of outdoor exploration.
Das macht diese Unterkunft einzigartig
To reach our cabin, you'll drive north past Tallulah Gorge, down a residential road, and past a farm with fields of cows and corn. You'll cross a small bridge over a stream while on a gravel road, and turn onto a gravel road that follows one of the prettiest pastures you'll ever see. Look to your right to see Saga Mountain! You'll turn onto a private drive that takes you to our cabin, perfectly situated at the top of our property.
Located on 3 peaceful acres, our little cabin offers a place to unwind, spend time with family and is only minutes to the convivence of grocery stores, great restaurants, shopping and wineries. With 2 porches, a fire pit, a seasonal view of the mountains, updated kitchen and baths you'll feel surrounded by the warmth of a rustic cabin with all the modern amenities of home.
We invite you to come to catch your breath, rest, and enjoy the beauty of North Georgia.
