What actually happened. The day after check in, the traveler contacted a member of my team stating that they saw a scorpion. Even though this had not previously happened in four years, I had the team member immediately get an extermination company to the home, I met them there, and the home was treated. The traveler then escalated the situation by stating that they felt they should get a full refund due to the bug/s sighting. I had already consulted with a VRBO rep who shared that this did not warrant any refund given that I had initiated remediation. I shared this with the guest but still offered a partial refund if they truly wanted to leave. The guest exploded threatening go after the owner and "ruin" the house and my team on a review if they didn't get all their money back. After speaking to the owner, they received a partial refund. As you've read, the traveler made good on their threat adding things that typically would have been mentioned long before a review. I can assure you that the home from a cleanliness and maintenance standpoint is the same home that earned five stars from the group that checked out the morning of this groups arrival and from the string of groups prior. We do everything we can to ensure a high quality stay for each and every guest!
