Beautiful Villa Mercedes is nestled in Mismaloya's lush Tropical Rainforest. At sunrise and sunset, we can hear the vibrant sounds of parrots, guacamayas, and other tropical birds -not from the zoo five miles away, but from the thriving local habitat we've preserved. There is solar heating at the pool but at night to keep the warmth gained it's a must to cover the pool with its blanket. Downtown Puerto Vallarta is just 7 miles away. The villa provides essentials like soap,,shampoo, conditioner, lotion, a hair dryer and towels. Thanks.

Every year when the Tropical rains start, a lot of dormant bugs come to life for a brief period of time, then they go dormant. The lizards are friendly and useful geckos that eat up those bugs. Thanks for your comments, Villa Mercedes is located in a very unique tropical location. Always welcome!

You're right, different than normal, it rained a lot on the first week of February. I really wish you could see how beautiful Mismaloya is in the winter. It's not only the weather, it's the blue sky, the warm ocean waters, the whales, and the jungle. Gaby born and raised in Mismaloya, says he doesn't remember that rain in February. We hope we get the opportunity of hosting you again for you to enjoy what this part of the world has to offer.

I would not deign respond to this review if it was not slanderous. Not only did you not stay in our home (it was your brother, not you, who stayed with us) which makes you unqualified to review us, and a simple Google Maps search demonstrates the outright false things you are posting here, as our home is 10 minutes away from the zoo (which by the way, it is a selling point we would like to emphasize to our future guests!). What is true is that we have all the emails you sent us in which you try to blackmail us, like all wannabe influencers, into giving you your money back once your brother used our property or you would post negative things to your “thousands of followers.” In fact, we are currently considering posting our experience with you, along with a link to this review on r/choosingbeggars, r/influencersnakr, subreddits dedicated to services such as this one, and others. This way people may see both your lies and this response, and to let people who read them know that we are willing to provide all emails you exchanged with us if they request them. I would tell you to be ashamed of yourself for behaving so dishonestly but, let’s face it, people who do this kind of thing don’t know the definition of the word.

Summer, In all the years I have as a host and owner, this is the first time I am compelled to personally respond to a review. I wish I could say that few things surprise me but then things like this review come along and leave me appalled and angry. I cannot believe that a person would dare accuse another of theft/attempted theft the way you have with Gaby. First, I want to start by pointing out that my family and I have known Gaby for decades; he is the same age I am and I have known him since we were both 11 – we pretty much grew up together, for crying out loud. So as far as character goes, without question I would take his word over someone who comes as a guest to MY house, is treated like a VIP and then proceeds to level such unfounded and unfair accusations on the way out the door. And this on top of the fact that there’s nothing missing (if there were, I would still take Gaby’s word over yours through and through). Forget about the fact that this can be construed as defamation not only of Gaby but of my family and I. Second, we have had thousands of guests and never once have we had any complaints whatsoever. In fact, quite the opposite, as Gaby has received nothing but praise from our guests. To be blunt, what I think is the issue here is pretty simple. Unfortunately, Mexico is, socioeconomically speaking, highly stratified. Gaby, by the lottery of birth, happens to come from a less-than-advantaged class. And I think that here we have a case of a person who travels to a foreign country, who I think has preconceptions about people in that country and approaches everyone who fits their mental idea of such people with suspicion and the expectation that they are dishonest. Mark Twain once said that “[t]ravel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.” I at times wonder if that still holds true.
