I really don’t know how to respond to this review since generally every review, over 100 of them have been 5 stars. I guess I will say this, I have NO want or need to take from anyone without just cause and when I let guests use thousands of dollars worth of kayaks and equipment and it gets lost or broken and I know accidents happen, it needs to get fixed or replaced. That would pertain to the home also. It’s to bad this particular contract signer, who never even saw the equipment according to her own text, it was her adult children and their kids that used it, did not take the time to look things over before excepting responsibility. The house, furnishings, play equipment is checked after each guest leaves to ensure the next group has a wonderful time, and as far as kayaks and equipment goes, I could never under good conscious and responsiblity let someone use a paddle that’s “taped” together. Besides, that would be impossible to use anyway. Your still welcomed back, tho I’m sure that won’t happen, and that’s to bad. To all my future guests and anyone that reads this, if there is a problem or an “accident” happens let myself or who ever you rent from know, everything can be fixed. Enjoy the summer all! To all my future guests. Please read the 170+ 5 star reviews prior to this one. VRBO suggests that an owner not directly respond to a guest with a negative review, however, I will address a couple of his issues. It is true, tho I like to check my guests in, answer all there questions and show them the amenities of the home, but this particular afternoon my grandson and I were planting a Christmas tree for a departed loved one in the yard. I answered the guests call at a few minutes after 4 pm, walked him thru the house over the phone and told him if there was anything he needed to call me anytime. Not one phone call all weekend. Not one. When I arrived at the cottage Sunday afternoon to check things out, there was a Hottub that looked like it was used as a bathtub. So, three hours on a Sunday afternoon, in 25 degree temps, I drained,sanitized, and filled this tub for the next guests. Three hours, 82.00. The Hottub was spotless prior to his arrival, I know, because I’m the one who does it. There are instructions on how to use it, which apparently they ignored. I get things happen, like a spilt drink, or even maybe a piece of food, etc., but if I have to sanitize it, and it’s in the contract, then there’s a charge. There were other things wrong but I’m not going to elaborate on them. I just want all to know, I have no want or need to take from anyone, and as MOST of the reviews say, I’m there if anything is needed and it was no different for this guest. To all my future guests, when possible I always check my guests in. I do this to introduce myself, make sure they have all my contact information Incase they need anything, answer any questions such as recommendations for restaurants, wineries, brew pubs, sites, etc.. Also since most guests have not stayed in this beautiful cottage I show them the amenities and how some work like the steam shower, Hottub, internet, where the firewood is kept for the fire pit etc.. You see after doing this successfully for 8 years, I’ve learned that most people have many questions when they arrive and I and I’m sure they would like them answered upon arrival so they can start to enjoy their stay right away. To address the pots and pans , had I known I would have brought some over immediately, and they have been replaced. When I have guests with extended stays 5+ days or more, and I don’t hear from them about trash I will stop over mid day (when most guests are out) and open garage door to remove and replace liner. To my future guests, if you need anything let me know, I will do my best to resolve any issue ASAP! As far as the rest of this review, after 170+, 5 star reviews, I believe, and no disrespect intended, this person, on future trips, should stay in a hotel. This is one of the most beautiful locations in the area, a 600,000.00 cottage and property and most everyone agrees it’s worth the stay.
