Cozy Lake Cabin in the Woods

A cozy, yet modern lake cabin where you can enjoy year-round nature and beautiful Sturgeon Lake. Enjoy your private lake access as you fish and swim from your dock and use the canoes, kayaks and paddleboards to explore the lake. Relax in the Adirondack chairs at the shore while you take in the sights and sounds of loons and bald eagles and watch amazing sunsets while having a campfire (firewood provided). Visit during the fall for amazing fall colors. Or enjoy the winter with a cozy gas fireplace in the cabin and access to the frozen lake for ice fishing and direct access to miles of snowmobile trails.

Inside the cabin is an open concept living room and kitchen great room with a gas fireplace and large windows to enjoy the trees and lake. On the main level is a bedroom with a queen bed and an adjoining bathroom. The sleeping loft includes a second queen bed and a full bed. There is AC for the summer and in-floor heat and a gas fireplace for winter. The cabin has Wi-Fi and Netflix. Outside the cabin is a deck with seating, a patio table, and a gas grill. The cabin sits on the crest of the hill looking down at the lake and trees. A 300' walking trail through the woods and a 150' trail down the hill takes you to your private lakeshore and dock. It's about a three minute walk from the cabin to the dock.

There is parking space for two cars with overflow parking available if bringing a boat, ATV or snowmobiles. Ask about local pontoon rentals starting at $800 for three days and discounted rates for additional days.

Explore local trails for walking/hiking, ATV, snowmobile, and biking. Enjoy local restaurants, shops, a brewery, or play golf and pickleball, all within a few miles of the cabin. A short drive away is Jay Cook and Banning state parks, and Duluth is just 40 minutes away.

$75 pet fee for ONE small/medium sized dog that does NOT shed. Add a pet when completing the number of guests. Sorry, no other pets are allowed. 3 night minimum during the summer and 2 night minimum the rest of the year. Max occupancy is 4 guests.

Comfy, clean, everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Great location.Host was very prompt answering any questions we had.Unfortunately we had a short busy stay and didnt have time to use the kayaks or canoes provided. The lake is beautiful and it would have been perfect for an evening paddle to watch the sun set!

My husband forgot his cane at the airport and our host, Eric and his wife were kind enough to lend us one they had at the property. We really appreciated how accommodating they were of our additional needs.The owners also provided us with a contact for renting a pontoon boat. The boat was delivered and picked up for us, and we were able to dock it right at the property. We spent four wonderful days on the water and caught enough fish to enjoy for three days of our stay. We had a great time!

For our family with just 1 kid and 2 adults for 2 nights, this was a perfect place. The space was super clean and comfortable, looking out the green and overlooking the lake. We would love to come back! The host was very responsive. There's no washer / dryer and only 1 bath/shower in the main bedroom, so people should be aware of that if for a longer stay. The WiFi is not super strong, which was good for us so we kept the kid and us unplugged ; ) For the use of Kayak/Paddle Boat which are stationed on the slope, strong manpower is required to take them down and return back up, which wasn't a problem for our family. We visited the Echo lake state park to dock-fishing and my kid spent hours on a dirt road for agates :) The Moose Lake Town has nice spots for dining and grocery store.

We enjoyed our stay. The cabin was super clean . The view from the cabin was wonderful because you could see the lake and it was restful. Walked down to the lake it was steep but well worth the walk . We would stay there again .

While this property’s description is not false (the cabin is new, clean, tucked into the woods), we feel that some very important facts were omitted. Though we read that there was a trail to the lake, we did not realize that there was a very steep (15-degree incline), long hill that must be navigated. This fact should be made clearer in the description so that seniors or those with any sort of mobility issues would be aware. The trail also has poison ivy all along it, making this trail dangerous for anyone, especially young children and pets.Another awkward feature of this property is that there is one bathroom and it is only accessible by going through the main floor bedroom. Just beware of this fact.Less important, but not ideal, were the following drawbacks:-There is no view of the lake from the cabin, you must go down the steep hill to see the lake-The only fire-pit was at the bottom of the very steep hill and there are big patches of poison ivy around it-There is no place to put clothes other than in suitcase/duffel bag on the floor (no closet, dresser, or even a luggage rack)-The recessed LED lighting is full force with no dimmer-There is no place to sit inside and play games – no table and chairs, only the bar stools (that don’t swivel) in a row-There is no lawn – not around the cabin or down by the lakePros:The owner was attentiveWe saw loons and eaglesWe heard fishing was goodThe cabin is private, clean, AC workedGood location, by restaurants

I'm not sure what you think poison ivy is, but I assure you there is no poison ivy anywhere. I'm sorry you had issues "navigating" the trail to the lake. It is as described and shown in pictures. The bathroom is also just as described, so not sure what you were expecting. Although you can see the lake from the cabin, our listing does state that in the summer it is more of a tree view than a lake view and more of a lake view the rest of the year. This is also shown in pictures. The pictures also show the fire pit at the lake, not next to the cabin. There is a closet in the bedroom with shelving, hooks on the wall, and a bench for luggage. But agree there is no closet in the sleeping loft. There is a dimmable light on the ceiling fan and a lamp in the living room if you did not like the LED lights. Why would you think there would be an additional table and chairs somewhere if there is not one shown in the pictures or described in the listing? There are plenty of pictures of the exterior of the cabin that shows the yard and deck and trees. It is exactly as shown in the pictures, so not sure why you would expect a larger yard. I understand if the property is not perfect for everyone, but with all of our 5 star reviews, our other guests don't book our cabin and then expect it to be something different what is described and shows on the pictures.

Lovely Getaway

Our family of four and our dog were looking for a low-key time and we got it! The weather was great, the house was cute and clean and the pontoon was an added bonus! We just spent time playing cards, fishing and hanging out on the water. Perfect getaway from the business of life.

Sturgeon steep

Great cabin, very nice and clean. Love the lake and loved the availability of canoes, kayaks and paddle boards. We got a chance to try all. The only things I would complain about is the life jackets provided are stored outside which if rained they are wet. The walk down to the lake is a very steep hill and the firewood could be covered, so not wet. On that note, the owner is around and very willing to help get boats, in/out of the water as it can be a little challenging.

We loved our lakeside cabin tucked into the woods. A perfect distance away from twin cities to rest, watch the sunrise with the blue herons, roast s’mores at dusk while hearing the loon calls and the sounds of tree frogs to tuck you in at night. Grateful for the modern amenities and the ability to have our dog with us. Got to visit Jay Cooke, black sand beach, the lighthouse and so much more! We will definitely be back to make more memories up and down the north shore with the cozy cabin as our home away from home.

The cabin is very nice & clean! Our family had a great time! The dock is a little ways away, but the walk is not too bad. We caught fish right off the dock and the kids swam. It was a great place for a family vacation!

Girlfriends Getaway

Four long-time friends and one dog enjoyed our time at this cozy cabin. Great location near Banning and Jay Cooke. Nice waterfront fire pit and dock, though shoreline a bit rocky (can access water from dock). The host was really responsive and accommodating. One note - the bathroom is accessed through the main bedroom. That's fine if you are family or close friends, but just something to know. Cabin is new and comfortable. Nice hilltop view to lake. Perfect setting for our old friends get-away!
