Great girls trip

Great location with lots of nearby wineries. Cute & clean property. Owner was very reaponsive. Slept 4 of us very comfortably. The bourbon bar across the street was nice, I would recommend bringing groceries for some snacks. Will definitely be back.

Nice home base

Good location - quiet and central to our activities. Generally comfortable and had the necessities. Plenty of towels and dishes. AC in bedrooms that did help cool main room a bit, but no ac unit there. Host responsive and communicative! Some water stains / damage on walls and front curtains.

This place was perfect for our Shawnee National Forest Adventure. We were there early in the week so the local things we liked were not open. Great Value, but loses a star for dirty front windows, no dishwasher and no ceiling fans.

Owner was able to get us in on short notice. Cute and modern two bedroom right in the heart of the wine trail. A great hub near many wineries. We enjoyed walking on the trail right outside the door. Great place to stay!

Quiet Little Get Away

The loft was very comfortable and clean. Very close to three wineries and within decent driving distance to a few others. The town does close early so that makes it difficult for dinner times but it works if you plan ahead.

Great location!

So many good things about this house- great location, so cute, stocked with snacks. My two complaints are 1) the furniture. The couch and chairs are flaking leather, and it’s all over the floors. You can’t lay on the couch, the flakes get everywhere then. I found them in the bed, in my hair… I think that needs to be taken care of. 2) we found a dead mouse in a trap under the couch. Really wish that would have been checked and dealt with before we got there. All in all, I do recommend this house still. Location is solid, it’s so close to wineries and the bourbon bar, and there’s a hiking trail right outside. And the store front makes for a cute getaway house.

My brother and I grew up in Southern Illinois, and could not wait to 'Get Out,' 'Escape,' and go to the big city. I went to school in Chicago at the Illinois Institute of Technology, and left Southern Illinois far behind. I thought this was great.

Both my brother and I had very successful careers. His in the IT world of Virtualization, and I in the online advertising, marketing, and market research world catering to big pharma. In a normal year, both of us would fly 125,000+ miles and see many places, countries and sites. Working with clients al over the country and beyond.

As we grew older and our 'success' continued we felt more and more that something was missing. We began to yearn for the hills of Southern Illinois, the slower pace of life, and the people we left behind more and more.

I 2013, I came home for a few weeks to help my mother move my father into a nursing home. After this was completed I flew to Milan for business, and on my way back I received a call that my mother had had a stroke. This was a life changing event for boh my brother and I, and I never really went back to Asheville, NC.

Our father spent the year getting worse, and our Mother spent the year getting better. When my father died in December of 2013, I decided to 'officially' move to Southern Illinois, and my brother to nearby Southeast Missouri in order to spend more time with our mother and be closer with family. I also made the decision to leave the company I worked for and do something simpler, and local to Southern Illinois.

June 1st, 2014 I started my company with the goal to create vacation rental homes in Southern Illinois and help the area grow tourism. Southern Illinois is a beautiful and special place, and I would like to share it with as many people as possible.

In the Summer of 2021, my brother decided to purchase a vacation rental and join me on my adventure. I now manage the day to day operations and we both work on our houses together.
