Nicholas, we were very surprised to see this review come through after the glowing review left for the same home just one week prior. While we are disappointed to hear that you had a poor return experience, we would like to clarify a few of the points made in your review. When you reached out on Monday to report that the king bed was broken and uncomfortable, we were confused since this was the same bed that was at the home during your previous 5-star stay the week before (with no other guests staying at the home between your stays). However, we still offered to send someone to take a look. When our maintenance worker reported that they couldn't find an issue with the mattress structural or otherwise, the owner decided not to replace the 1-year-old mattress, and you requested 1 or 2 additional nights to “make the situation right.” While this request surprised the homeowner given your flagrant dissatisfaction with the mattress, she still graciously agreed to give you an extra night at the home at no extra charge. After that, you added even more nights to your reservation. Regarding being locked out of the home, your stay of 4 nights had been paid, but despite calling, emailing, and texting you about the payment due for extending your stay with no response, we had to deactivate the keyless entry code. On the day of your departure, our housekeepers showed up at the check-out time to start cleaning, and you aggressively yelled at them to leave. When the housekeepers returned an hour later, they discovered that the house was left in total disarray. There were magazines thrown around in the bedrooms, a box torn up and thrown onto the bunk bed, and a twin mattress protector that was torn and had to be thrown away. In the bathroom, there was lotion and shower gel smeared all over the walls and mirror. While we always strive to provide the best customer service possible, we must share that your treatment of our home and team members was completely unacceptable. We are equally disappointed with the whole experience, and we wish you the best in finding alternate accommodations in the future.

The home is categorized as private, and while neighbors will inevitably be seen on the way to the home (which is unfortunately out of our control), they are not visible from the home itself. Regarding the community-wide power outage due to a storm that lasted several hours, we apologize for this inconvenience and understand your disappointment. We communicated updates as we received them, and we offered to pay for alternate accommodations while you waited for power to be restored, which you declined. We also mentioned that we would reimburse you for any items (water, flashlights, candles) you purchased should you choose to stay at the home when it was without power. You never communicated that you were unhappy or in need of any items, and when we checked in on you, your responses indicated that you loved the home and had a great stay despite the hiccup with the power. In our communication with you leading up to your arrival, we outlined the items that would be provided in the amenity starter kit with the disclaimer that you would be responsible for bringing or purchasing additional items as needed based on your length of stay. If that starter kit was forgotten by the inspector and not at the home upon your arrival, we'd encourage you to contact us so we can take you one. While a 10:00 AM check-out time is standard, we are always willing to accommodate a later check-out if the home’s availability allows for that. Given your experience with the power outage, we would have been more than happy to offer a late check-out time or other compensation had your dissatisfaction or frustration been communicated with us. All of our vacation rentals are owned by people who call them “home,” and this property is no exception. We do our best to be completely transparent in marketing the property’s features/location, and we strive to provide exceptional communication and hospitality, so we’re sorry to hear that your experience was anything short of excellent despite our best efforts.
