place was nice and as described, alexander responds quickly which was helpful when we arrived because the heat wasn’t working initially but he helped resolve the issue

Cozy home

If you're planning a getaway trip just for a weekend or for a few days. This home is perfect. My family and I enjoyed our stay here for the weekends, it was quiet and a bit isolated. Place is clean and organized. Loved the binder they left with things to do and contact information for emergency. Would definitely stay here again during the summer.

Great Stay in the Catskills!

Alex was a great host. The home was clean and perfect for our needs. Rainy weather prevented us from using the fire pit and yard but the kids loved the foosball table and board games available. The home is close to Cairo and East Durham. Check out Old Factory Brewing for some really good food and brews. We look forward to staying here again in the future.

Just what we needed

Loved the shelf full of games and fooseball! Nice spacious, private back yard, though too cold to utilize this time of year. Lots of good pots and pans, beds were comfy, good commutation with owner.

Perfect for families and great location

My family had a great time in this lovely home. Great location near Windham Mountain. The owner was easy to work with and very accomodating. House was super clean and comfortable and we loved the wood-burning stove (and the kids loved the foosball table). The property is beautiful, with a nice little stream and a fire pit that the weather kept us from using. Would love to visit again maybe in the summer for some hiking. I highly reccommend!

One of the BEST properties we've experienced

Alexander's Cairo / Catskills Getaway home is one of the cleanest, well stocked, well cared for homes we've rented. This home is cared for! And it's spacious, modern, well furnished - it's a home, not a house. The pictures really don't do the home justice! Alexander was super fast replying and communicating. He cared that we enjoyed our stay. The location has a bit of a rural neighborhood feel but with tons of space around it and between any neighbors. Easy access to shopping / dining in Cairo. We stayed a week. We worked there. We played there. We didn't want to leave. And can't wait to return.

Nice house near Catskills

The house was very clean. The space was exactly what we needed. There were the perfect number of beds for our group of 7. There were only a couple of drawbacks. The grass wasn’t cut so we didn’t use the fire pit. There is no dishwasher, but we knew this ahead of time and planned for that. There are also not a lot of towels, but again we knew that in advance and prepared for that. The owner was very easy to work with and great with communication.

Andrea. Thank you for booking at the Cozy Getaway Cottage. I do not have a Dishwasher and we do not advertise it. Andrea booked for 3 nights and we left 2 large towels & wash clothes for each Guest including hand towels in each bathroom. We also have extra towels in each closet as well as extra blankets and pillows. There is wood outside for the fire pit. The grass is always maintained.

Insurance fraud, asking cash money after stay.

We had a disappointing experience with this host. Initially, everything at the property was fine, and there were no issues during our stay. However, after we refused the host’s unexpected request for extra cash, they suddenly filed an insurance claim, alleging damages that we strongly believe are fabricated. It feels like retaliation for not complying with their unreasonable demand.The host’s behavior seemed more like a scam than a genuine issue. We left the house in perfect condition, and the sudden “problem” arose only after our refusal to pay extra. This experience was stressful and felt very unfair.I would strongly caution others about renting from this host, as this kind of behavior undermines trust and the integrity of the VRBO platform.

Safar and his family seemed very nice.They Booked for 4 Adults but showd up with 10 people. That was not a problem. When they check out and the cleaning crew sent me pictures of the place it was left very dirty with food in the refigerator, we were charged extra cleaning fees. I had contacted Safar about the extra cleaning fees and did not charge him. My cleaning crew notity me with some pictures of Damages to our counter tops. Apparently they had placed the hot tea kettle on the counter tops leaving them with a round burnt marks damaging the count tops on 2 different counters. Unfortunately accidents happen. I had to put in a damage claim with VRBO. So in retaliation they leave me a bad review! I have been on this platform for over 4 years and never had a bad review.

Snowy weekend away

Alexander was helpful and communicative throughout our stay. The place is clean, cozy, and was just right for the price. It was the least expensive of the homes we looked at. It snowed our first night, Alexander made sure to have the driveway plowed and the walk salted. While we are city people, this was the first place we had ever stayed where water usage can be an issue. We did NOT have a problem, we heeded the warning of Alexander and made sure we took short showers so we didn't deplete the well. We were not made aware of this issue till we arrived (not sure it would have changed our mind anyway.) Every home has its quirks, but the home was a trailer on a permanent foundation. The walls and floor have the feel of an RV, and NOT a home constructed of wood or brick. While I don't know if VRBO can classify the place any different, I felt it should have been in the description.
