We had a wonderful week at OIB. The property was exactly what we were looking for. We had 2 adults, 2 kids and a small dog with another 2 adults and a small dog that stayed with us the first 2 days of the week. It's an older property, and has some of the weathered character you'd expect from the salt air. The kitchen / dining / living area was great for all of us to hang out in. The bathrooms and showers were clean. The beds were comfortable. The fenced back yard was great for the dog(s) to run around. Dan and Toni were great, responsive hosts. Not having to worry about linens was very nice. The walk to the beach was reasonable and we made good use of the beach cart available at the property. I drove an EV to the beach, OIB has a convenient, cheap charge-point station that we made use of. I did not charge at the property. We were able to walk from the property to everywhere we wanted to go in OIB. This was a great place to stay for us and matched up with our plans for the week perfectly. Would stay again!

Relaxing time at the beach

10 adults and one toddler had a great time. The house is clean, spacious, up to date and close to the beach and waterway. Toni was very helpful. We had a very relaxing time.

Just what we where looking for!

Dan and Chrissi were very easy to work with and the house is great. You get the best of both worlds staying on the canal with an easy stroll to the beach. Highly recommend!

Location location location

So close to the beach (2 minute walk or 30 second golf cart ride) and right on the water for our kayaks and paddle boards. I live OIB and I love this house! Enough space for the 14 people we had staying to all be comfortable.

Great Property and Great Location

We had a great time in this home. It was a great location -very close to the beach- we rented a boat which we docked at the property which was very convenient and such a perk. Toni, the house manager responded very quickly when we had an issue with one of the bathrooms. The teenagers loved the location from the beach - to the shops and mini golf and of course the ice cream shops.

Ocean Isle

Our family loved our stay at Scallywags! It held our big family ! We could have used one more bed, but we took so long to book we were thankful for the stay! Having a channel house made us want a boat! And the kids and adults loved the short walk to the beach and pier! And we fished every day! Thank you!

Super Family Friendly and Convenient!

Scalywags was a great vacation! My young children loved fishing and crabbing off the dock, the bunk beds, and the easy beach access at the end of the street. The mattresses are comfortable, beds are made and the convenience of linens provided was amazing! (Especially as a mom of four young children, having the vacation home “ready” was stress free!) we truly enjoyed Ocean Isle, and our down time in Scalywags was well spent! We will be back again soon! Thank you for an awesome stay.

Hi Yohan, Your review is not a surprise. As you know, you misrepresented your group when you booked, and you violated the terms of your rental agreement. You were required to have a min 25 year old present at all times, but the adults were never present. You were not allowed to have parties or overnight guests besides your group, but you had multiple parties with dozens of underage drinkers. The Ocean Isle Beach police were called dozens of times, and came out to break up the loud parties multiple times. You promised to correct the situation initially, but the illegal activities, including underage drinking, DWI, etc. continued. When the police contacted the parent of your group and eventually told her they were going to charge her with contributing to the delinquency of minors for not being present at the house, she decided to vacate the premises (she was never present but had the children leave). The unsupervised teenagers hosted all nigh parties, set off fireworks, climbed on the roof, damaged the property in multiple ways, and left the house in disarray. The amount of damage exceeded the security deposit, and you are liable for additional charges, beyond the initial booking fee and security deposit.

Location

The property is definitely close enough to the beach to walk. Just a few short blocks. We could also walk to a beautiful new park with a fountain that the kids loved playing in. The canal would be great for a boat owner (we are not). The house set up is great for families with kids. We had 4 under 5 years old with us. The property manager and owners answered questions quickly. This was a very last minute rental and the house was ready for us on short notice. We asked about a crockpot and the the property manager got one for us. We very much enjoyed our staymon OIB.

Nice place to stay!

We had an excellent time! Very roomy and open. The dock brought great enjoyment and the outside seating under the house was a great place for our 19-year-old boys to hang out. There was plenty of room for everyone to sleep and then some. The air conditioning was a little hard to keep at temperature but that was not a big deal. The property manager was very helpful too! Overall I'd say it's a nice place to stay.

Perfect OIB stay!

Scallywags was a great home. The outdoor space was wonderful. Lots of furniture and the canal view was gorgeous. The public beach access at the end of the road was very convenient. The home is lovely and perfect for a group or family. Would definitely recommend staying!
