There were no dirty clothes left anywhere. There were two coffee cups left in the dishwasher. There were clean extra sheets and towels folded in the laundry room with extra pillows. They did block access to the bedroom’s second doorway, which is not used. As far as the grounds, yes, there are old flower pots to be reused, stacked neatly; there are ladders against the house stacked neatly. They are also paddle boards and paddles stacked neatly by the side of the house for vacationers’ use. There are three good bikes in a bike rack covered by a tarp available for vacationers. There are two garbage cans (one for garbage one for recycling) on the side of the yard tucked behind a tree for easy access to take down to the road. There is no broken furniture. One year from a major hurricane meant that the interior garden fountain had not been replaced so the “pond” did have dirty water. It’s the base of a fountain (2x3) not a pond. Like the images that people saw of homes in Wilbur by the sea, the side of our 89 feet of yard became a cliff a year ago. We spent $60,000 rebuilding it and there is a very accessible path down to the beach. One does not have to be athletic to manage the path. If someone is handicapped, they can absolutely access the beach 100 yards to the south via handicap ramp that goes down to the beach. My husband personally drained the hot tub, scrubbed it and sanitize it 48 hours before vacationers’ arrival. It’s important that hot tubs are clean. We left chlorine tablets next to the hot tub. 50 feet from the ocean, it’s possible that sand gets in the hot tub. We paid to have the windows professionally washed 24 hours before arrival so that there would be amazing views of the ocean from every room and bedroom. The cleaning lady and I spent four Fridays in a row doing deep cleaning so that the house would be pristine. We started with the ceiling, cleaned all the vents and fans; we cleaned the tops of all picture frames blinds, TV, fire place, cabinets. We cleaned all cabinets inside and out; we cleaned all windowsills. We Sanitized all doorhandles and light switches, cleaned picture frames and scrubbed the furniture bases. We cleaned all baseboards; we moved all of the furniture and cleaned behind every item and every rug; we cleaned under all three beds. The refrigerator was pristine. It is important to note that in conversations, we let them know this is our primary home, which meant there would be pictures on the walls and condiments in the refrigerator. I cannot imagine any dirty area of the house as I spent hundreds of dollars and worked with the cleaning lady to ensure that it was perfect. We did forget the coffee grounds and I apologize for that. I observed the cleaning lady mob the floor the day of vacationers’ arrival, so it is impossible that the floor was dirty. Overall we spent about $600 in cleaning which is a fraction of the cleaning fee. I did not complain when Fritos and Sand were all over the floor as I understand that vacationers do not have a responsibility to clean my house upon their exit. The substance that was spilled (and not cleaned up) was diatomaceous earth. It’s the best possible pest control as it is non-toxic to animals and humans. I suppose what is most disappointing about this review is that I reached out several times both before and during the visit to see if there was absolutely anything that the vacationers needed. “Please let us know if there is anything you need as we’re staying a few blocks down the road at another property.” We would have happily come to change the timer on the sprinkler system. The sprinkler system like, all of them up and down the coast, is well water. It’s from the Earth. I received a beautiful, handwritten thank you note with a drawing of the ocean from two other family members who presumably enjoyed their stay.
